  1. Yeah, tried that already, no luck. Thanks, Mitch
  2. Yea, I tried out all PCIE slots and nothing. I have connected the monitor to the gpu and still nothing. Thanks, Mitch
  3. Yeah, I am most likely going to do that as soon as possible. I was just curious if the CPU's PCIE controller or whatever could actually cause a problem like this, or if it is a common problem with other people. Thanks, Mitch
  4. Yes, I did press the power button. It can display everything on a monitor if I use the onboard graphics, the GPU doesn't show up in device manager. I have uninstalled drivers, disabled the iGPU in BIOS, made the PCIE Slots detect video first before the iGPU. Thanks for your response, Mitch
  5. Hello everyone, I have been having issues with my computer not detecting my GPU. I have tried everything under the sun, and was just wondering if a faulty CPU could cause the PCIE lanes to not recognize any graphics cards. I have an Intel i5 6600K, with an MSI Z170 Krait 3X mobo, and have tested a GTX 560 and 970. I have used two different PSUs, one is 650 watts and the other 1000 watts. I have even sent back the mobo a few times thinking it was a faulty mobo, but I am starting to believe the CPU is at fault, due to it being the only component that I haven't changed out. The GPUs are not being recognized in the BIOS under the Hardware monitoring tab in the BIOS. This is a brand new build, and I made sure that I used the 6+2 cables provided by both power supplys running on the 12 volt rails, so I am certain it isn't a power related issue because the fans on both GPUs spin.
  6. Yes, I tried the GPU's in different computers. I disabled the onboard and tried all 3 lanes to no avail. Thanks, Mitch
  7. Idunno, I used 2 different PSUs one is 1000 watts and the other is 650 watts. Also used 2 different sets of PCIe 6 pin cables. The gtx 560's fans spin the entire time the machine is powered on, but the 970 doesn't even do its initial spin when I turn the machine on. Thanks, Mitch
  8. Yes I have tried every pcie slots, cleaned the connectors, reinstalled windows and flashed the bios prior to posting. Thanks for the reply, Mitch. Yeah I have the 2 6 pin PCIE cables the card requires. Thanks for the reply, Mitch I figured it might be that, but this also happened on the last board I returned to amazon. I initially thought it was a dead PCIE lane, but when the new board came in, the same problem persisted which led me to believe it MIGHT be a GPU issue but just wanted to come here to verify that it is INDEED a GPU problem. Thanks for the reply, Mitch
  9. Oh yeah, I also downloaded and installed all the necessary device drivers and whatnot. Thanks for your support, Mitch
  10. Hello everyone, here is my situation.... I recently got a new motherboard and cpu, installed everything and then the monitor doesn't detect a signal from my GTX 970 or GTX 560. Previous to this, I had ordered an MSI Gaming Z170 M3 mobo, sent that one back to Amazon because both cards wouldnt give a signal, so i figured it might be the motherboard. Bought a Gigabyte Z170 instead and the same problem has occurred. I tried using multiple connections (HDMI and DVI) and nothing. The onboard graphics works well, but both the graphics cards are not detected in both the BIOS and Device manager. I tried installing the nVidia drivers but the drivers don't install because it doesn't detect any of my cards. I have even tried disabling the onboard graphics, as that is what everyone on other forums say to do, but that doesn't do anything as well. I used two different PSUs and nothing. Are both the cards dead or is there something that I am missing? Specs: Intel i5 6600k Gigabyte Gaming 3 Z170 GTX 970/GTX560 Corsair CXS 650 PSU Kingston HyperX Fury 2133
  11. Hello, I had the 970 from a previous build but wanted to update my CPU/MOBO, which was running the x58 chipset and a i7920. Yeah I am aware of this, just was at the last straw grasping for anything to see what could be the problem. I want to return this board back to Amazon, but want to double check to see if this is the right course of action. Thanks, Mitch
  12. Hello everybody, Recently I purchased an ASUS Z170-A from Amazon, and I installed all the other components and when it was time to turn the thing on, nothing happened. The other parts that I bought were an i5 6600k, 16gb hyperx fury, 2 SSDs and 2 HDDs, a corsair 650 psu, a EVGA GTX 970, and the cooler that I am using is a hyper 212. So here is what I did so far to troubleshoot... Tested to see if it would boot without gpu, nothing. Tested to see if it would boot without RAM sticks, nothing. Tested without the frickin CPU in, nothing. The only thing that I can visually see from this is that the little green LED that indicates pwr is constantly blinking no matter which component is. Ontop of that, the PSU fans dont spin, the CPU coolers fans dont spin, and the PSU works perfectly fine in my other build, and I tested the MOBO with a different PSU, so i ruled out it being a power supply related issue. What do you think? Any advice is welcome.
  13. Oh ok, I'll try do that later on today. Thanks for the heads up!
