  1. This was the page I used on the Xfinity website . I put in a zip code for where they provide internet and one of the list supported modems is the one I linked. https://mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com/ You can try looking at the documents for your router/modem and see if can log into it and disable the router side of it. So its dumb and just passes the data in one side and out the other. But not all combo units can or make it easy to do that. I had one of those before and was able to hook my own router up to it after making the combo dumb.
  2. I looked up the device online and the ports on it are only 10/100Mbps Ethernet Ports. So that might be part of the issue. The more expensive models are gigabit Ethernet.
  3. You did not list what client devices you got but if its android then something like one of these should help. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.seah0rse.swififree&hl=en https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pintacdesign.bestwifi This really should be baked that into android by default. If you go more then one ap that you got the key for it should try to connect to the best one when signal strength drops to low on the current. And I just had a similar issue, went with two separate ssid on my router/extender 5ghz bands for clients connecting, and using the 2.4ghz signal for backhaul between the router(running a third ssid) and extender(just a client to the third), I hid the 2.4ghz ssid. This gave me the best throughput on my client devices. It you got legacy device you can still use the hidden 2.4ghz ssid on the router but try to not over loaded it. Its main job is to move data back and forth between the router/extender.
  4. Been trying to get my family to cut the cable tv but hard with my father. He knows enough about a cellphone/computer to be dangerous lol. And on tv he likes to flip back n forth between shows, yes I know streaming on hulu/netflix would not need to do that because of ad breaks. Some people just can not adapt to new tech. I wish all the online streams would get off their asses and have usable api's that programs/websites could use to make a good central place to find things and have one watchlist. There are a few but they are all janky as hell from what I tried. As you my want to try your local library a lot have tv/show dvds you can checkout.
  5. Sense you did not give a budget,I would recommend this , which I use and have had no issues with for a router. https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Archer-C7-Wireless-Gigabit/dp/B00BUSDVBQ/ I put in a Illinois zip on the xfinity website and they support this one. Might be ok to get one of this older slower models depending on your internet speed. But if you need the mid tier one anyway you might as well get the best one for $10 more. Should last you longer as they upgrade internet in your area in the future, har har. https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-TC7650-E-1029Mbps-download-Certified/dp/B06Y4TG6KN
  6. If you get something like this you should be able to reach max speed on your internet. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MY7PL10 You just wont reach near the max rated speed on a good ac dongle for like lan traffic thru usb2 port tho.
  7. So, as long as device are connecting to things on the same side of the line in picture it should not have to crossover even if dhcp is running off the router on the right side. Just dont want something like this to happen. computer -> switch -> extender -> router -> extender > tablet Would blow the speed and latency all to hell. Two hours later after internet comes back on.... Did some messing around with my router and extender. I got the best speeds with both extender/router broadcasting the 5ghz signal only for clients and keeping the 2.4ghz hidden for backhaul between the router/extender. Like double faster then all the other combinations I tried. I also put the two 5ghz as two different ssid to better control which I was being put to. Even just swaping the clients to 2.4ghz and backhaul on 5ghz almost knocked off 1/3 the speed. Enabling the 2.4ghz/5ghz on both with same ssid for the speed just cratered the speed. Found a lan tester that works easy enough. It sends a 50MB file both ways. WiFi Speed Test on my tablet https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pzolee.android.localwifispeedtester&hl=en And smallftpd on my computer http://smallftpd.sourceforge.net/ And im getting more then double the download speed connected to my extender ssid vs the router ssid going from the tablet to desktop. So you were right about it staying on the right side of the line.
  8. I am going to be setting up my desktop to stream games to my tablet using nvidia gamestream on the desktop and moonlight on the android tablet. Question is on my network setup is the traffic going to have go back and forth to my router all the time. Or will it just go from computer -> switch -> extender -> tablet and back. I posted a diagram of my network below. The big lines connecting things is the route I would think it should take for best speed. Yellow=cable red=wifi Does anyone know of tools to see the traffic routing path between my computer and tablet. Bonus Points: if I hook up a nas to my network switch. Would traffic only go as far as the switch if connecting with my computer.
  9. http://www.microcenter.com/product/470342/Codex_X-032US_Desktop_Computer Is the specs on this good for the price. From what I cam see the price of the cpu, vga,mb and ram buying the cheapest version of each is more then the $1205 to buy it prebuilt. Might have missed something.

    Nvidia 525m

I use to have a laptop with a 540m and it could not play a game like Wildstar even at 1366×768 at lowish settings. and a 525m is even worse performance wise.
  11. Been needed to replace my almost 10 year old tv at some point. This looks like a good option
  12. There are two thing on this page you might want to check out. http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Age_of_Mythology#Issues_fixed
  13. When I first read this thread there was no image being loaded by the forum and there was no info else where in the thread stating that the card was ramping up correctly or not from you.
  14. ePSXe v1.9.25 is the latest windows version so you are using a extremely old version for some reason, from like 2008. http://www.epsxe.com/download.php
  15. Download MSI Afterburner and check to see if your card is ramping up its core and memory clock from it's idle speeds, when playing GW2.
