  1. Oh yeah, sorry about that I haven't used the forums in a while Damn, that sucks. Ah well, thanks for the help!
  2. Wait Are you kidding me Why didn't I realize it was ECC I just saw "Desktop RAM" and I assumed it was non-ECC Soooooooo, another question... I haven't installed the Xeon yet, but I do know that Xeons do support ECC do you think it will work with the Xeon?
  3. Hey all, So, I've been trying to upgrade my sister's computer. It's a Dell Inspiron 518 with a Core 2 Duo E7500 and 2Gb of DDR2 I recently learned of the little 771 Xeon trick that makes them compatable with Socket T, and so I bought some more memory and an x5460 to throw in. The problem is, the motherboard HATES this memory. Everytime I try to put a stick in, it beeps at me and doesn't post. The memory I'm trying to use is this: http://txmicro.com/Kingston-KC6844-ELG37-1GB-DDR2-PC2-4200-p-5034.html Somebody please help
  4. Yeah, I've been looking around for something like that, but I haven't found anything.
  5. Damn, so there's nothing I can do with software?
  6. Hey guys, I can't seem to find anything that's applicable to my case so... I recently bought a new fan to replace the stock one on my Cryorig H7 (TT Riing 120mm) The problem is, it's incredibly loud on stock speeds. And, it's not PWM. Normally that wouldn't be an issue, as I could just adjust the voltage, but... My mobo is a Gigabyte B85M-DS3H-A It's a cheapy $50 mobo, but for a modest budget build it works fine. However, the UEFI is absolute crap, and doesn't have a way to adjust voltage on the CPU header. I've tried SpeedFan as well, but with no luck. Is there any way I can control the speed of this fan? It's so loud I can hear it through my headphones, and it's driving me insane...
  7. Oh also, I should clear up that I play all of my games in 1080p, and I'm hoping to hit at least 60 fps in the games I play. (Overwatch, BF1, ect.)
  8. Just straight DDR3. What I read is that DDR3 runs at 1.5v, while DDR4 runs at 1.2v. Since the Skylake CPUs are made for DDR4, DDR3 can overload and actually fry the CPU over time. Here's the link to the original article I read this on: http://wccftech.com/skylake-does-not-support-ddr3-damage-ddr3l-only/
  9. Yeah, but I heard that at the voltage DDR3 runs at, it can actually physically harm the CPU. Is that true? I really don't want to have to replace a fried processor a year down the line.
  10. Hey guys, been an LTT lurker for a little over a year now, and decided to post on the forums cause I need a little help with my rig. I'm currently stuck on what to upgrade next on my rig, as my fps numbers in games aren't quite what what I want them to be. My specs are: Gigabyte GA-F2A68HM-H Motherboard AMD Athlon II X4 860k APU EVGA GTX 950 SC 8Gb HyperX Fury DDR3 RAM; 1600 mHz Cryorig H7 CPU cooler EVGA 430watt 80+ PSU I can't overclock my CPU very high, as my MOSFETS tend to throttle whenever I even slightly increase the voltage. I'm currently running a 4.2 gHz on the CPU at stock voltage. My GPU is also a stubborn overclocker, and doesnt want to push above +75mHz base clock.I thought about upgrading my CPU to an i3 Skylake platform, but then I'd have to buy DDR4 RAM, which would put me over budget for my upgrade. I considered getting a 1050 Ti or an RX 480, but I'm afraid my CPU would hold it back in most games. Some advice would be helpful, thanks!
  11. would love the razer blade stealth, nice little laptop to replace my school chromebook. plus it would be great to take on vacations and a great backup for lan parties.
