Harlan reacted to GOTSpectrum in BOINC Pentathlon 2023 - Obstacle Run (yoyo@home)
So the forst project for the Pent is YoYo@home, in this case you must run ECM or ECM P2 Work Units. This mean the first think you need to do is set your preferences on the site.

log into your account here, https://www.rechenkraft.net/yoyo/home.php or create an account with the project here on the boinc manager then log in.. Make sure to set your team to LTT.

Next you want to Edit preferences here.

You want to make sure you have these two ticked.

    Finally, run the project.

To bunker, simply set your client to turn off networking after it has downloaded WUs. I suggest using the Advanced view, it makes it easier.

    My Compute preferences

Go to the network settings tab and set it like this to enable to download WUs

Finally, when you have a good number of WUs in the list downloaded make sure to disable all networking in the activity menu.

Plex needs to be connected to the internet to authenticate.
I'm not guaranteeing its the problem, but imo its the most likely issue especially across multiple installs if its the 192.169.0.0/23 network has been the single constant.
Plex doesnt care about your hardware for authentication, and I doubt its software since you said you've tried multiple OS's (which means multiple versions of packages).

The entire 192.169.0.0/23 subnet is a public network.

As the poster above me said, if this is what your internal network is set up as, your going to have issues… you can’t have a public IP as your private LAN subnet of you want anything to work right. Don’t obfuscate the first 2 numbers, because if you really are using 192.169.x.x, we likely found your issue. You can change the third number to whatever you want, 192.168.x.x is a valid private IP as shown below. Anything outside of these ranges, and your going to have a bad time.

I see you tried to obfuscate this URL, theres no need to do that with a private (internal) IP address, but from the hyperlink i see its 192.169.1.69. This IP subnet is public.

You should change it to something in the private range.
Plex needs to reach out to the plex authentication service and return back, and its probably getting mixed up by the public IP address.

You should be using one of these ranges:
    Class A: 10.0. 0.0 to 10.255. 255.255.
    Class B: 172.16. 0.0 to 172.31. 255.255.
    Class C: 192.168. 0.0 to 192.168. 255.255.

    e.g 192.168.1.69

Typically for home use, Class A or Class C are used for routing your network, and Class B is used for containers (inter-container traffic).

you can go for a western digital one. Those are quite durable. I have a western digital HDD bought it 3rd hand and it still works as new.

If you're playing a lot of modern AAA titles and such, don't bother with MicroSD. If you've a lot of smaller indie titles however, such as Stardew Valley, Don't Starve, etc, then you can certainly throw them on a MicroSD card with minimal hits to loading.

The most you can do without root is 'disable'
Tap and hold the icon for the app
    Drag it to 'App Info'
Tap 'Uninstall updates'     (this will usually decrease the amount of space taken by the app)
Tap 'Disable' to keep the phone from ever running
Then I'd clear data just to get a few more MB back

I've noticed that even after all of this the apps still can ask for updates, which would enable them. I'd just try to ignore them.

I think you can just hide them but if you want to get rid of them to save on space then I think you have to root.

I'm pretty sure you need to root your phone to uninstall factory apps. Look on the Google Play Store for any apps that may be able to do that w/o root. Doubt there is though.

    Hey guys,

I rarely post so this a special occasion. I needed to share this book because I knew someone from the LTT community would appreciate this as much as I did.

The book is called Game Programming Patterns by Robert Nystrom. I barely started reading it and I really like it so far, it basically shows a different way to look at patterns in programming.

    Here's his website:
    http://gameprogrammingpatterns.com/

He even posted the whole thing online for free simply because he wants to share it. Here's the link to that:

The iPhone 5se has not even been confirmed, nor has there been a date set for the presentation of the phone. Most likely if Apple stays true to their past it will cost more than it is worth. If you can afford an iPhone 6s or 6s Plus I would get that. Even though I'm a die hard Android fan the 6s gets me all excited. Otherwise you can get the iPhone 6 or wait for the unconfirmed device to come sometime and when it is released you will be told to wait for the iPhone 7
