  1. Not surprised, I've been reluctant to be active on this forum for reason you pointed out. one of my first posts was welcomed by a second F**K you from members in the gaming section. This forum have grown so big moderators simply cannot manage, also with the different timezone some of the posts are made, the mods cannot cope with the amount of posts. It would help if memebrs help police the forums too. simple method used irl for example abuse/crime in a community, the police can't do everything we all have to help where we can instead of being ignorant about things "we should take serious because it does not effect you" but it effects others.. Good Luck on your journey wherever you go
  2. He's not being idolized, you who is also a nobody in my eyes the same as this "progamer" who is also a nobody in my eyes would grief if your team-mate and close friend was in his shoes. Not to mention a post saying R.I.P would have been fine, no need for snarking comments, its not like you go out and help people on the street, or do any good in your society or community for that matter. You mind your own business and go about your day doing the same. I was being thoughtful to post on LinustechTips, but the more I post the more its users act all fucked up and makes any new member unwelcome to even be a part of this community. I received a completely different response on a local forum, not that they are going to donate any money whatsoever which is also fine because the family have received far beyond what they need. But acting like cunts over something that has nothing to do with you doesn't really help your view over any situation. If for gawd unknown reason someone guns down your whole family for some stupid 100 bucks. What would you do? And yes the reality is many people die on a daily bases, he is nothing special from the rest of the "statistics". As I have no idea who he is, i have zero cares for gears of war and MLG for that matter but that does not mean slapping people in the face with my ePenis is helping anyone but your own ego and insignificance. I will steer clear of this area in the forums in the future clearly its filled with assholes, not all though.
  3. As I understand it was a couple "mother" 16 years old, and "father" 20 years old, who did this and the baby was present too. They were arrested at the hospital where Phobos was being treated for his chest wound.
  4. Hi Guys I'm not sure if this has been posted. I myself do not know this gamer, I do not follow MLG as USA timezone does not allow me to stay up that late. But Back to topic, one of the first MLG pros for Gear of War simply know as Danny Reitz or "Phobos" in the gaming world was shot and killed while trying to sell his unwanted PS4 to a couple who showed interest on Craiglist. a Gofundme account has been setup to help his family. I'd like to ask the LinusTechTips Army to help out and show everyone despite our, platforms, differences, debates, country, continent planet or universe we live in, united we stand support each other we do. I'm a gamer from South Africa, even if this pro gamer did not effect me directly or indirectly, no one deserves what happened to him. Here is a Youtube video posted by one of this fellow teamate, and friend
  5. I would like to thank everyone for your warm welcome!! I'm quite excited to start playing 1 year from now because well can't really do anything at the moment.. Also i bought this ship because i have no f**king clue what I'm doing. I will eventually have to get a different ship for racing. Though I see I have 2 ships in my hanger. Seems like variants of the same ship. Also I tried to sign up to the organisation but "i have no auth" to do so. Someone help out?
  6. I'm rocking a 3mbdown, 0.3mb up for 100 dollars a month - South Africa FTW (cry me a river) http://www.speedtest.net/result/3712618949.png
  7. Just bought it, not sure what I want to do yet, in the mean time, i have a HORNET F7C-R TRACKER, though i do not think I will be much involved in military activity, I'm leaning more towards racing and FPS. :-) My nick is Tile
  8. I wantz it because i'm poorer than the average joe, also <3 Linus Tech
  9. I believe every region/country has its own qualifiers, and then this is the world championships as this is an annual event.
  10. South Africa has won the International Student Cluster (ISC) competition, a supercomputing contest held in Leipzig, Germany, for the second year in a row. Last year (2013) team SA scored a major upset at ISC by being the only team to use graphics processing units, and one of only two teams to have completed every task. A team selection policy that also sets South Africa apart is that it has not sent the same students to Leipzig two years in a row. The CSIR’s Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC) holds a national competition, where university students may enter to show their supercomputing mettle. Based on their performance at this competition, students are selected for the CHPC team which is entered into the High Performance Computing Advisory Council ISC. The Team During 2013 a team of students from the University of the Western Cape (UWC) won the CHPC competition. They make up the bulk of the CHPC team: Eugene de Beste; Nicole Thomas; Saeed Natha; and Warren Jacobus. Other members of the team area: Pieter Malan, Stellenbosch University, was part of the team that achieved the best HPL score during the CSIR’s competition; and Ellen Nxala, University of Fort Hare, was part of the team that received the CSIR’s prize for perseverance. As reserves, the CHPC fielded the following students: Kevin Beyers, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, was part of the team that received the CHPC’s prize for best high throughput design; and Hardus Bodenstein, North-West University, was part of the team that received the CHPC prize for best theoretical design. These students then had the opportunity to visit Dell’s headquarters and the Texas Advanced Computing Centre at the University of Texas in Austin. There the team received a tour of the facilities and access to experts who could answer their questions about various aspects of supercomputing. The Competition To win ISC, students have to build a computer cluster, or supercomputer, that stays within a certain cash and power budget. Within those constraints they must achieve the highest aggregate score across a suite of benchmarks, and perform well in an interview with ISC judges. Congratulations to the CHPC’s team on their performance at ISC 2014. You’ve done South Africa proud. Source: http://goo.gl/IQRjp7
  11. LOL i found it long ago... scroll up... hahahaha
  12. For those that think this is a bit irrelevant I think its quite relevant as its the Square Kilometre Array Telescope was used to identify this. A team of South African astronomers have discovered a triple super-massive black hole system, the Square Kilometre Array SA said on Wednesday. “The discovery demonstrates that South Africa has the scientific and technical expertise to be a world leader in radio astronomy,” project director Bernie Fanaroff said in a statement. The research team funded by SKA SA was led by Cape Town astronomer Roger Deane. The team represented the universities of Cape Town and the Western Cape, Rhodes University and SKA SA. Multiple super-massive black hole systems were thought to have a significant impact on the way galaxies evolved. “When these black holes get very close to one another they are expected to emit gravitational waves.” He said the discovery was predicted a century ago and SKA had been designed to detect them. “Although they were predicted theoretically, these exotic black hole systems have remained elusive for decades.” Many more black holes were expected to be discovered through the telescopes being built in the country and continent. My Local broadband news site, I apologize for some of the comments on that site, there are a lot of negative privileged people in south africa Source: http://goo.gl/gSngLA
