I'll also weigh-in here and say that it's not going to be much fun to have a BYOC ticket without a computer..

This is not a "DreamHack event" like they put on in other cities. It's a "LAN Party powered by DreamHack".

With no PC you'll just be standing there watching others game at night.

As long as you know what you're getting yourself into, then it's up to you, though.

yeah, my mistake, I definitely could have worded that response better, to reword it, its not JUST about wasting the money, if you want to go to ltx, great, just going to say that the dreamhack byoc probably won't be that much fun if you don't bring a computer, since it quite literally is a 500 seat gaming area for people to bring their computers to, and I still stand by my statement that its unfair towards people who actually want to bring a computer to the dreamhack. Nobody is saying you are disrepectful for not bringing a computer to ltx, in fact with Linus saying on wan show that there is a maximun of about 8000 (I think) tickets and only 500 byoc tickets, majority of people will not be bringing a computer to the show.

sorry for your question being ignored before, and for my reply or anyone elses on this forum having offended you, it was not the intention.

Perky1977 reacted to k.m.p in BYOC ticket question
The reason its seen as disrispectful is because there is a limit to 500 seats at the byoc, its not about wasting the money but the fact that if you buy a ticket and not use the byoc, somebody else that would have wanted to bring a computer to the byoc and actually used it missed out.

If your going to buy a byoc, only do so if you actually intend to use it, otherwise its a waste of your money and denying somebody who could have actually bought a computer to the byoc a chance to do so

Make friends and use your neighbors to help keep an eye on things. You could always setup something like a live cam stream monitoring your stuff while you walk away, but you're not alone with this concern. I installed a door sensor on my panel in case someone attempts to open and grab some hardware...

I'm coming from Scotland myself. I arrive in Vancouver on the 25th, travelling alone so would be great to meet up with more UK folks at the con. Feel free to hit me up with your plans,

@Perky1977 I was going to do the same thing maybe I can setup a Google doc. Was going to rent a car and drive people back and forth from the convention center to LTT office. Maybe charge a couple dollars to pay for a rental for the day and gas.

Haha, shoulda fed him more peanuts as a small child
Haha, well it's Vancouver; if Asian is your thing, you're in the right city. Especially if you venture into Richmond; it's basically China.
Anyway, here's 6 of my favorite Asian food spots:
    Ro Sushi
Small spot, good prices, good rolls Mega Sushi
Big sushi rolls, lots of variety, but a little heavy on the sauce Sawasdee
Amazing Thai food, usually smart to book a table in advance Royal Seoul House Restaurant
Korean food. Only Korean place I can recall being to, so take that for what it's worth Banana Leaf
Great food, a little on the pricey side The Eatery
A wide menu of various awesome foods...though I was dating the owner's niece so I might have gotten better service If you head into Richmond, there's tons and tons of options. I can't recall any of the good ones, I just went where the girl I was dating at the time suggested.
If you haven't had hotpot, it'd be a great thing to try with a bunch of people.
There's so many good poutine places in Vancouver, that serve poutine and poutine only.
La Belle Patate, Mean Poutine, Frenchie's, and Belgian Fries top my list.
Haha, yes. Well, not super super cold, but not warm. Also don't expect nice sand, it's very much really small pebbles.
Don't you live in Seattle? We're not that much farther north. Our beaches will be similar to yours.

I do, My kid has a severe nut/peanut allergy so I would feel bad eating ice cream in front of him. I may sneak though.

@PrincessHeinz57 If you like ice cream, a place to definitely go check out is La Casa Gelato. They have something like 260 flavors on offer at once, and a catalog of over 500. It's pretty packed in the summer, but they offer small spoon samples of any flavor before you buy. It's a must stop place IMO.
