  1. @RocketBunny42 I used one for a short time, but I didn't keep it going for long. I'll try that and "stress" it a bit and see what happens. Gonna remove the NVMe drive completely and see what happens.
  2. TL:DR and updated components listed at bottom. Some backstory first. On Wednesday evening I was playing Satisfactory and decided to play a movie on my second screen. I had been playing for several hours and I hadn’t realized my front panel was off, so I replaced it. About a half hour or less later I got my first BSOD of the evening. After that I couldn’t post on my first 1-2 restarts. I then unplugged my hdds and unnecessary USBs. Got into windows to have it BSOD again. It struggled to post and I gave up for the evening as I’d been drinking. The next day (Yesterday) I reseated the memory and the gpu. With no success. I reinstalled Windows to have it BSOD during the installation process. I tried reinstalling again to have it BSOD as I finished installing Windows Updates. I booted into a second ssd with windows installed and it worked without issues (I didn’t stay loaded on that drive for long) Tried a CMOS reset. Didn’t help. Tried reinstalling Windows again. Was stable for the remainder of the evening. Used CrystalDiskMark to confirm the drive was good and got a 100%. I did not take note of the numbers besides that the drive was good. I ran a MemTest and got 0 errors. (I did not take note of whether it detected 1 or 2 modules) Today I installed spotify, discord, epic games launcher. No issues. After that I wanted to retrieve my save games from another drive, so I powered down, installed the drive. Powered on and my bios had been reset again and my ssd is no longer a bootable option. And I noticed that one of my RAM sticks was no longer detected. So I reseat the Ram. Doesn’t help. Switch the modules around and several attempts of not posting the stick that was detected before is still detected and the second stick is not. I tried a third location for the “bad” stick and it failed to post. So I’ve since removed the module. I was also getting an error of Memory PMU training error at Socket 0 Channel 1 DIMM 1. After removing the module the error has gone away. I also moved the sdd to the second M.2 slot with no change. Since my boot drive wasn’t working, but was being detected. I have since reinstalled Windows for the (5th?) time after removing all partitions on the drive in the Windows installer. I’m at a loss for what is causing the error since nothing I did prompted the issues. Most the parts are new-ish (1 month old) , and had no issues prior. New Components Ryzen 3 3800X 32GB (2x16GB) Corsair Vengence RGB Pro DDR4 3200Mhz (XMP has never been enabled) Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite (Bios F11) Samsung 970 Evo 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD Old Components Sapphire R9 290X Seasonic Platinum 550/650W PSU ( I honestly can’t remember and my case won’t let me look) TL:DR - Was playing a game, BSOD happens, hasn’t worked since no matter what I try. I’m at a loss as to what might be causing the issues. Every time I boot up, I question whether it will work again or not. What am I missing or what might not be working correctly? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. (Formatting might suck since I’m posting from my phone)
  3. @KING OF THE DIRTY DANS Alright, so $400-450 for the 2060 Super and a better monitor at around the $500-700 mark? Which would likely make the most immediate impact?
  4. @KING OF THE DIRTY DANS @MrIceCremeLollipop So then what tier of GPU should I be looking at? 2060/2070/Super versions/5700XT?
  5. Several years ago I built a reasonably specced out rig with a Sapphire Vapor-X 290X, i7-4770k, 16GB of 1600Mhz DDR3, 1TB 850 Evo SATA3 SSD, and 2 24" 1080p 60Hz monitors, but the hardware is beginning to show it's age and I'm trying to figure out what upgrade options would most improve the quality of my PC. I'm of the opinion that upgrading my 2 monitors to a single 1440p Ultrawide would probably enhance my experience immensely, but I'm not sure if my current hardware can handle it. I don't do any content creation or play many AAA titles, but my recent obsessions have been Civ 6 and Satisfactory, with occasional dips back into modded Skyrim and modded Fallout 4. I watch a lot of movies and shows on my computer as well. I have up to $600 USD as a budget. Feel free to ask any other questions for more information.
  6. @IgorM This is an apartment patio. I cannot wire outlets.
  7. The basic premise is that my new apartment patio does not have plugs outside to use for string lights or to charge a laptop/phone without an extension cord inside. What I want to do is make a "box" that contains a large battery, a power inverter, and a "standard" wall outlet along with usb connections to use outside whenever I want. I'm assuming these are sold somewhere, but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. If they are more expensive than $100ish USD, I'm not exactly familiar enough with electrical components to DIY something without assistance. If someone could send me in the direction of what I'm looking for, or would be able to help me determine all the components I need to build such a device.
  8. I just found realized that both the sites she wants to stream are run through the Vimeo platform. Is it possible to watch those videos through the Vimeo app? Or is that limited to their respective websites?
  9. I do not own a Chromecast. That button doesn't show up for me.
  10. Is the wmcextender easy to use and setup for a non-tech savvy person? Cause if not, it's an absolute no-go. She has an Iphone 6s, what's the best cast app for the Fire TV? If nothing else, is there an option for Windows 10 to automatically change it's audio output when it detects an hdmi source? Like if I plug in an HDMI cable to my tv, will it automatically change the default output to the HDMI TV. If it doesn't detect the HDMI, it will continue to output via the speakers, cause that would be a glorious solution as well
  11. Honestly the biggest thing is being able to stream her yoga videos to the TV. I have some of them on the computer, but most would be through her yoga streaming sites. Specifically Udaya.com and theyogacollective.com Absolutely requires the ability to have the sound working as well. That's been a sticking issue as well
  12. I'm working on setting up an in-home tv set up for myself and my girlfriend. I've been unable to figure out a solution that consistently works for her (non-tech savvy) I've got some knowledge myself, but I've apparently just ghetto rigged everything to work, and she can't figure out how to get it to work. I have a pc running windows 10, my own wifi, a vizio e-series tv running smartcast, a fire tv, a raspberry pi 2 model B. Is there a solution that I can get running that will allow her to stream from my pc to the tv wirelessly? if you need anymore information, I'm perfectly willing to supply more information.
  13. @Electronics Wizardy @itachi737 @Curufinwe_wins Unfortunately at least one of the streams I expect to run from media server will be to a TV. If possible it will be possible to have that connected to one of my computers, but if not, I'll have to use the software on the TV. But if I want to watch a movie from a phone or tablet around the house, the media server would have to transcode the files before they make it to the end-user I'd prefer to build my own NAS, specifically because I'm curious as to how they run, but also because I want to have nearly 'unlimited' expandability and upgradablility in the future. Plus I want to build both of these into a future desk or future entertainment center build that I am planning.
  14. I have no experience trying to set-up a server or a NAS. I will start by stating what I hope each system can do in terms of performance and then ask a few questions. Hopefully someone in this wonderful community will be able to assist in my endeavor towards not being an idiot. Media Server 2-3 concurrent users at most 1080p highest resolution Not to be used as a gaming server Local network only Media Server Questions What is the difference between streaming and transcoding? What OS is best for a local media server? PleX, Kodi, etc? If I’m using mainly mp4 video files, do I need a beefy CPU to stream? Or could I get away with a Raspberry Pi 3 connected to a NAS? NAS 2-3 concurrent users 12-16+ TB Local Network only NAS Questions What NAS software should I use? FreeNAS, etc? If any, what RAID should I be running? If so, would it be better to invest in a hardware RAID card or should the CPU be able to handle my needs? Does a NAS require a beefy CPU (Xeon, etc) or more like an i3/G3258?
  15. Budget: Flexible (sub-500) Location: USA Goal: I want this as a HTPC for Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. I also want it to stream my mkv movie library from a separate machine, but I don't know how powerful a CPU I require to watch the movies without any issues. It will just be running a single 1080p 120Hz TV. No storage will be required as the movies are stored and transcoded on a separate machine. If I can get by with a Raspberry Pi, that would be awesome. But if all I need is a H81 mobo with a G3258 and 2-4GB of RAM, this will be easy. If not, let me know what I need to do to make this work.
