  1. School issue laptop unfortunately. I would have just removed the malware or reinstalled but there are several barriers in place to prevent me from doing that. Trojans from my knowledge can't "spread" but yeah since there's other adware probs best not to. The Trojan in question is something like "generic.trojan.x32" or similar and a quick Google showed that the particular antivirus I'm using can pick it up, so all im wondering is whether the file being in quarantine poses any threat to my personal data.
  2. This is more just clarification than anything since I haven't been able to find a solid answer anywhere. yes I know it was a dumb thing to do. I downloaded a piece of software (for music production). Turns out a Trojan was attached to the said software. I'm using kaspersky's antivirus software, and I can see that the file has been put in quarantine, along with an adware file and some other unknown file. According to various places, there is a possibility this unknown file is a keylogger. my question is, since the Trojan and (possible) keylogger are being prevented from interacting with any other files supposedly, is it ok to use my computer as I normally would? I can't delete the files either because i am not an administrator for the system.
  3. I'll cut right to the chase, biding a computer with a MSI B150M bazooka motherboard, trying to install it into a thermaltake versa h24 case, motherboard doesn't fit the I/o shield if the standoff screws are in. If I was to screw the motherboard into the case directly on the little raised "nubs" it would fit fine
  4. That's only for the note 7 and not the standard galaxy s7 and s7 edge. Also, they have stopped selling/distributing note 7s as of a few days ago because of the battery issue.
  5. You can't really go wrong with either, maybe just choose the one whose features stand out to you as the most useful
  6. Thanks for the recommendation, its just cheaper postage to get it from the same place but if the store doesn't have what I need I'll expand my options
  7. The xfx one was what I was originally going to get. All it needs to do is run a sub-400 watt system and not explode and preferably last for more than say, 4 years.
  8. just wondering if the CX-500 V3 is a goodie or a baddie since the store i'm buying my PC from ran out of the power supply i was considering, and i'm too impatient for them to come back in stock. if it isn't a good one, what are some other options for about the same price?
  9. If you wanna game, you wouldn't look at getting a GPU so youre not running off integrated graphics? Either the i5 or i7 is fine, someone more qualified than me will be able to tell you the difference and what would be better for what you want it to do. Probs gonna need 16GB ram, 8GB is stretching it if you do some serious production work.
  10. Have you tried putting the parts into pcpartpicker.com?
  11. Sorry for not actually addressing the question, but is that monitor a good one? I've been looking for a monitor but can't find any reviews/opinions on it so far. Is the colour reproduction good?
  12. Yeah I've seen something floating around about using the trial version of windows 10, I'm not sure if there's any issues doing it like that though. Swapping the mobo for the suggested MSI bazooka, and will decide on the case later on. I've probably got caught up in the latest and greatest parts and not considering the other ones available that will work for what I need. I've got no intention of playing at 4k or 1440p, I'd just like a (mostly) stable 1080p at 60fps to be able to play some of the games I had on my Xbox before it died. The RX 480 is looking a bit overkill for my needs, and maybe the 470 is enough. Regarding the image/video editing, hell, I can get by with doing that on the crappy dell laptop I'm using right now so it's hardly intensive production. The 6400 paired with 8GB RAM should be more than enough for that shouldn't it?
