Techstorm970 reacted to Roswell in Kickstarter bans AI-generated art enthusiast group "Unstable Diffusion" and refuses to deliver their successfully raised $56k funds
You're jumping into a bunch of logical fallacies to support your argument, not really interested in engaging with that nonsense. Not to mention some weird assumptions that have no grounding in reality.
Regardless, the results these services spit out would not exist without stolen artwork. If you were in the space (which you're not according to prior discussion), your opinion on how artists should feel, however flawed, would at least be valid. But it's not.

Has absolutely nothing to do with NSFW vs SFW...
The image set that these AI models are trained on (LAION) is filled with billions of copyrighted images/artworks. The technology is built on the backs of people who never gave consent to steal their work for profit.
Your freedom of software doesn't include freedom to steal other people's work. These AI models steal from millions upon millions of people.

We did it bois, launchers are now on iOS. 2 apps for 1! This is surely a much better user experience than before.

Techstorm970 reacted to Needfuldoer in Student arrested after sending private joke over snapchat before boarding a plane, message was viewed by security as he was connected to public Wi-Fi
Airport security isn't going to assume it is "just a teenager making jokes" if there's even the remote chance they could be wrong. There's too much at stake.
Don't joke about performing terrorist acts.

They should absolutely be charged. They don't know it's a joke, they acted, which cost the fees it did.
Only an idiot "jokes" about that in an airport.
Simple case of fuck around and find out.

I thought we all knew, by now, 2 things not to do.
1. Joke about blowing stuff up in and around airports and government buildings
2. Use public Wi-Fi
This muppet failed on both.

Odd how an airport wifi would be scanning for messages about blowing up planes. Really makes no sense when you think about it. /s
No such thing as privacy, and if you want to rail against it be my guest. This isn't a movie where we can enact change after an 1.5 hours of running around, getting Angelina Jolie or Keanu Reeves to hack us free.
We're all being watched cuz some people do bad shit. Be upset with those that blow up planes, not those trying to make sure planes don't get blown up. Sure, they can be too much, like the TSA is basically the mafia, but for the most part the real issue is PEOPLE. We fucking suck.
Like when you get pissed that the clerk fumbles at taking that ink tag off your new shirt when you're in a hurry, wonder why it's on there?
Btw, regardless of how it was discovered or reported, what fucking idiot sends that AT THE AIRPORT!?! In this day and age, no less. Sure in 1985 it was a giggle, but in 2024? Utterly fucking stupid.

oops... FAFO. It's the same reason you don't go around yelling bomb in an airport. I think the major takeaway is nothing is private on somebody else's wifi.

Are we still surprised about the global surveillance operations? My guess, a person at the other side reported the message. This dude fucked around and found it imo.

Encryption doesn't matter when you hand the keys to the authorities.

Techstorm970 reacted to callyozzie in Student arrested after sending private joke over snapchat before boarding a plane, message was viewed by security as he was connected to public Wi-Fi
Summary
A student sent a private message over Snapchat before boarding a plane, joking about blowing up the plane. Security picked up the message because he was connected to public Wi-Fi in the airport.
Quotes
My thoughts
How did they read the message if it was end-to-end encrypted? Should be be made to pay for the £19k fees as it was a private message and a joke to his friends? I'm interested to see how it plays out in the next couple of days.

Techstorm970 reacted to TetraSky in Apple confirms 256GB of storage will be on their Vision Pro
You won't be running GTA5 on the headset anyway. Beside, it's Apple. They aren't known for putting a lot of storage on their devices. Otherwise, how would they sell you their cloud services.

Techstorm970 reacted to Zando_ in Apple confirms 256GB of storage will be on their Vision Pro
... It is an AR headset, not a VR headset. Much more focused on overlaying stuff onto the real world, than rendering an entirely new one. See also Microsoft's Hololens that's been out for a while, similar headset and advertised for similar uses (though MS's has leaned more towards enterprise stuff than home use). The storage is likely fine for what the headset is meant to do.

Techstorm970 reacted to manikyath in China announces rules to limit spending on video games
china: doing the right thing for the wrong reasons.
laws against promoting addictive behavior in video games are very necessary, but their focus on online gaming as the source of the problems their youth are facing is probably at least slightly too shallow.

it's actually a good idea by the worst people imaginable.
spending huge amounts of money on digital gambling scams that are modern games pretty much SHOULD be limited.
the chinese government is more interested in stopping the devilish influences of the free world than gambling addiction , so not the best example of it being implemented but at least it's one example.

Techstorm970 got a reaction from JobinJames in Intel's slapped a 16GB dual-channel minimum entry requirement on Core Ultra laptops
Nah that's too much. Very few common programs, including games, are asking for anything more than 16GB. They're making 16GB dual-channel the requirement that even laptops well below $1000 need to meet, which is a big deal.
In terms of pure performance, the dual-channel minimum is the bigger deal here.

Honestly, I'm pleasantly surprised they kept Win 7 support alive for 3 years after the OS was killed off. The GPU companies already dropped 7 support a couple months ago at this point, sad to see but at the same time, glad to see Steam hung on for a while.

Except your post is snarky whereas mine is based on genuine use-cases given they are talking about faster iGPUs which means faster RAM is needed and more of it to make good use.
Let's not forget, even the Steam Deck has 16GB and some niche cases could benefit from 32GB.
Any brand-new laptop with less RAM than a Steam Deck seems a rip-off to me, doubly-so if its soldered.
