Not sure when they added this, but they added treasure maps and buried treasure chests to Minecraft.

The treasure chests are actually cool, too!  You can get ingots and coal and--wait...

    While there is a lot of cool stuff in the newer versions, the zoomer in me insists that 1.8.9 was peak.

    If memory serves that was added in the 1.13 update which overhauled the ocean adding the new swimming mechanics and new ocean biomes like coral reefs.
