  1. Its a good thing we aren't trying to mod these cards on CRT monitors. Can you imagine how many people would get injured or die from imploding tubes when opening the monitors shells? ....
  2. I just spoke with Benq tech support regarding their current line of monitors and the possibilities for and upgrade kit similar to that of the ASUS monitor. The representative said that there will not be an upgrade kit. They informed me that the new 2014 lineup of Benq monitors will have the Gsync technology in them and that the first available monitor will be the model XL2720Z. Sad day , I was going to purchase the XL2420TE this week but now I will just a cheaper monitor until the good stuff comes out. Hope this helps
  3. I just nabbed this case for an mATX build during a black friday sale because bitfenix's adaption for their mATX cases from the mITX ones is just retarded. If i were making a mITX build i would go bitfenix in a heartbeat however.
  4. Ok great, thanks for the help. I think that this case forces me to be stuck with the 200mm fan in the front. I cant be 100% sure until i get in on thursday, but i think i remember seeing a review where they marked off for not having the option for other fans in the front due to lack of mounting holes. I guess you could always make your own. Alright, so I'm about to buy the water cooling needed for the CPU, just double checking here. I should buy a 240mm rad and place it on the top instead of the 140mm rad for the back of the case? Also are corsair water cooling rads still reliable or is there a better performing rad?
  5. Hello everyone, With black friday behind us, I have found myself in the middle of building a new PC. The case i have chosen for this build is the Aerocool DS (Dead Silent). I chose this because it had a layout similar to that of the Bit Fenix Prodigy MITX case internally, but is able to stay classy and mature on the outside like the phenom. My questions is in regards to an ideal Positive pressure airflow inside the rig. This, to my understanding, is best for eliminating dust and managing the internal heat buildup (Please correct me if I'm wrong). Below are two schematics for airflow that i'm arguing between to achieve the best cooling. and I will have the CPU hooked up to a water cooler. Size depends on set up. Any thoughts on these setups would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
  6. Yeah, the case I was looking at was the Aerocool DS (Dead Silent). It seems to be pretty nice for a mATX set up. The BitFenix mATX rigs interior look like the engineers just threw shit every which way and didn't care about optimal air flow. So in regards to the "Open Box Mobo" from new egg, is that something not reliable?
  7. Hell everyone, I have a question for the gaming rig that I am building currently. I want to keep my rig small (mATX board) and am in the process of finalizing the components I will be getting (Budget around $1,000). Should I save money and spring on the cheaper i5 3570k CPU and Motherboard combos or is that foolish since it is "dead"? Newegg has a nice deal right now that is very attractive for the price, but it would knock me out of my mATX case I want to get. There are a few nice mATX Z87 Mobo's that new egg has up for sale that are open box and would compensate for the higher prices of the Haswell hardware, but I have never dealt with open box purchases from new egg before. Are they fairly safe? This would be my first Intel Rig, both gaming rigs in the past for me have been AMD's. Thank you for the feedback.
  8. Thank you all for the suggestions. After reviewing my build I may switch to an mITX mono and case. I am worried however about me limiting myself with graphis down the road. I plan on getting a R9 280X or something of the equivalent. Does anyone have any insight on performance decreases between mATX AND mITX?
  9. Thank for the replies, So you don't think that there will be an issue with playing on gaming sessions with a mATX style gaming rig either?
  10. Hello everyone, First time poster and visitor of linustechtips, I have built 2 gaming PC's in the past and am gearing up for my third build. I am struggling however because I would like to give a shot at a mATX gaming rig. After the past two weeks I am torn with the question of whether or not I am setting my self up for doom down the road. I chose mATX because occasionally I will LAN at my friends houses and would like something more easily transportable but don't want to sacrifice performance. My fist question is about the case, I need something with great airflow and have been looking at: -Bitfenix Prodigy M -Bitfenix Phenom mATX -Corsair 350d -Aercool DS (Dead Silent) I want to ensure that during my sometimes marathon LAN gaming sessions with will not cause my PC to overheat to quickly as I have had a problem with that in the past. Also I have a question about wether an I5 Haswell 4760k build is good enough or should I just upgrade to an I7. I know many games don't use hyperthreading right now. I mainly play WoW, SC2, DOTA, and some FPS's THank You
