Oh, I was on the phone with support about it for a while. They need to verify my location through my credit card, and that always gets stuck. I'm just going to pay four times as much to get it. I know the artist, and am happy to support them.

spexiono reacted to PlayStation 2 in What is everyone using to play there lossless?
"anything better" is purely subjective in this case. If you didn't even care much you could use Windows Media Player (on Windows 10, at least) to play FLAC and Apple Lossless files.

In this case, if Winamp works for you, then you can stick with it, but foobar2000 is really good.

    Kodi is a possible option.

Of course depending on the specs you may be interested in SteamOS (Possibly for game streaming). If you know a little Linux you can even install Kodi as a "non-steam game" on top of it.

    Unless the problem is solved and you're happy with the board you have;
Unicomp. Made from the same designs as the IBM Model M but can be bought new with a USB cable.

What's the IT setup at the company? you may need to get Windows 10 Pro, (Home doesn't have Bitlocker and can't join a domain.) Or there may be some business license agreement (Volume Licensing) in place in which case you might not need to buy a key at all.
Same questions for office, Are you using 365? or have you already got a key etc.

Edit: Are the other machines on Windows 10? If not it may be better to stick to what ever version they are on until you are ready to move the entire company over.

Am I the only one thinking that the "server" could be moved into another room and have cables to where it is now? See Linus' Home PC video for details:

The WASD code is a really solidly built keyboard. White backlighting, nice weight, and not too flashy. Most people get it for the clears (actually a bit harder to come by than greens sometimes), but there is a green version available that comes with pre-installed o-rings. The tenkeyless version is available on Massdrop right now (shipping outside the US is pretty expensive, though), and there's also a Full-sized version

It's what I'm currently using as my primary board, and I really like it. WASD also has the V2, which from my understanding is mostly the same as the Code, but without backlighting and with custom keycaps.

spexiono reacted to AshleyAshes in Where to get HD audio
I'm sorry, you've actually been given a crappy answer.  'FLAC Files' is not the right answer.  FLAC is just a lossless audio codec bit it's quality depends on the input format, most FLAC files you find will be rips of CDs, they will be no better than CDs because they are CD rips.  Not that FLAC can't also handle high definition audio, but since it's JUST an encoding format, it isn't inherently high definition.  It'd be like saying the source for high resolution images is 'JPEG files'.  a JPEG could be 150x150 pixels and tiny or it could be 10000 x 10000 pixels and look amazing.  'JPEG' doesn't determine if it's high definition or not.

For a quality SOURCE of there are some online services including the store for the Pono but there's also SACDs or 'Super Audio CDs' which was the physical format for high definition audio home sales.

I'm guessing the answer will involve the Modmic and some pair of headphones. But the modmic will probably eat at least half of your budget.

Perhaps getting one of the previously mentioned headsets would do fine for the time being and you could upgrade to an external mic (Such as the modmic) later on.

For the note taking part use OneNote, so that solves the "viewable on desktop" problem. The only recomendations i know of would be either a Microsoft Surface or a Samsung Tablet. most other stuff doesn't support a proper stylus. Unfortunately they are quite expensive.

If you're happy to type you could get something like the Asus t100 or look at getting a chromebook. And remember to look on the used market. no doubt there will be loads of "old" devices that have been replaced.
