No wonder my EVGA card averaged 8-10c higher than any of my other 1080 gtx cards. My ASUS Strix card is 10c lower than the evga card!
EVGA failed with their new acx 3.0 cooling.

vrms can typically handle 125+ C so 100 isnt much of a worry, especially if you arent doing extreme oc and pulling insane amounts of amps through the vrms

Whats not to love?    Many many many companies don't do anywhere near as much.

If you are a normal user just playing games and doing content creation don't get the pads.

If you're obsessed with running furmark or coin mining or f@h gpu all day every day, then get the pads.

Well the ti will certainly be abit lower then the titan xp and even the xp cant run 4k max settings in all games 80+.

It's not going to matter because at that point, you'll be wanting 8K max settings.

It should be very easy to go into the motherboard settings and either set a custom fan curve or set them to a quiet or silent preset to lower noise.

First and foremost, I'd like to thank everyone here on the LTT forums for all the help, advice and assistance I have received over the past couple weeks. There's no way I would have picked out the right parts without all your help!

In particular, I'd like to thank:
airdeano - For helping me determine the exact PCI-E slot spacing length on the Maximus VIII Formula.
STRMfrmXMN - For recommending a quality PSU and helping me estimate what wattage I needed.
herman mcpootis - For giving good advice about storage devices.
MaxBunny - For posting the Shia Labeouf "Just do it" meme when I asked for opinions on GTX 1080 SLI
This PC was built primarily as a gaming PC for BF1 (and many other SLI supported games) because my 6 year old PC had massive issues running the beta. I had planned on waiting for the Acer Predator X34p to be released in Q4 2016, but since it was delayed, I am now planning on playing the monitor lotto with the X34.

    Anyways, without further adieu...

You really have nothing to worry about unless the metal bends where it's mounted to the case, and removing the whole cooler would be a pain just to move a little ways. The biggest thing to worry about is flex from your graphics card, everything else should be solid if mounted properly.

HungryHamster reacted to Beeeyeee in Precautions when moving PC?
I would say an air cooler would be scarier since all the weight wobbling on your CPU can be dangerous. but with a small block you'll be fine. and with all those screws holding up the rad you won't have to worry.
I mean theres a slight chance it could leak. especially if its left in the cold and starts to freeze and expand. but trust me, the water will be fine. if it does leak water on your components, take everything apart as much as you can (GPU cooler and everything) and leave it in a highly ventelated, dry room for at least a week. make sure theres NO water left over whatsoever and trust me, once its all dried off you should be fine. the only way water kills electronics is if power is running through it.

I wouldn't worry if proper precautions are taken.

dont drop it , dont toss it , make shure you have all your stuff screwed down (wobbly harddrive is a dead harddrive)
and make your your gpu does not sag like a watercooled 1080 , removing it might be a good idea

Place the case so that the motherboard is flat with the GPU up. That way any pressure or jolting won't damage the PCIe slot.

Or... Buy a baby seat and buckle your ATX full tower in it.

You can install Windows on it to use it as a boot drive and store programs on it at the same time, yes. It's just a drive storing data, and you can put whatever you want on it. The OS doesn't lock you out of it if you're running Windows, Linux, etc.

HungryHamster reacted to Glenwing in Are Curved Displays A Fad?
My prediction is yes, and that it will go out of style in a few years. It is a somewhat situational feature, and depending on where the display is located and what it's used for, curvature may not be desirable. Since it is a "niche" feature by its nature, it will be very difficult for it to become the norm, companies will get tired of having to choose to alienate some customers every time (by choosing to make a display curved or not, and alienating the opposite market), or else double their product lineup by making a curved and non-curved version of everything, and it will start to die down as companies tend towards favoring the more versatile design.

Not many people have experience with curved displays. Although you'll see lots of people saying how great it is (because it is a fad, and so everyone thinks it's the greatest thing ever), a lot of people have never used one extensively and are just using their imaginations to predict whether they think it will be great or not, which means you will hear lots of "logical arguments" like things about it being natural for humans, being equidistant from the eyes, or whatever... But as always, theorycrafting is no replacement for experience. I would point out that the aspect ratio of human vision is roughly 4:3, but I don't hear the same people arguing for the return of square displays, despite them being "more natural". Turns out that doesn't mean it's better. Just the opposite in fact, wider displays seem to be better for a lot of uses.

If you want some anti-theorycrafting-theorycrafting, with a wide field of view (see triple monitors for extreme examples) the image begins to stretch at the sides. This is because games assume monitors are flat, and at wide angles they will stretch the image to compensate for lack of curvature. If you have an actual curved display, the games don't know this and will still curve the image to compensate. Thus it will just end up overcompensating and look unnatural and weird. See? I can do it too  you can theorycraft any direction you want.

HungryHamster reacted to RollinLower in Trust Linus? Front radiator setup in 760t
there is air coming in through the radiator. the only thing is that when your CPU gets hot, the air moving into your case will be slightly warmer too. this is why top mounted rads are recommended, so they can directly exhaust the heat.
this really shouldn;t affect performance too much though. maybe if you quad crossfire stock cooled 290X's you might get some heat problems, but anythin less extreme should be fine!
