Nvidia overlay for and AMD has something similar, both part of their respective software packages. Universal and will work in all games.

If you use Nvidia gpu, give their performance overlay a try. I believe you can modify what you see but I may be mistaken. The key bind for it is alt+r. No need to download extra software if you already have it installed.

HungryHamster reacted to Dukesilver27- in Which CPU core should I look at for temperature?
CPU package, idk what is the name in corsair's software, but on HWINFO it's usually CPU package. Basically it is the overall temperature of the CPU across all cores.

HungryHamster reacted to RONOTHAN## in Can Asus Z790 Hero have 2 PCIe 4.0 SSDs?
If you don't use the M.2 expansion card, no bandwidth will ever be taken from the GPU. If you do use the M.2 expansion card, you can have bandwidth reduced from the GPU if you populate the 2nd PCIe slot, but if you use the bottom PCIe slot no bandwidth will be taken from the GPU.

The only way you can have bandwidth taken away from the GPU is if the 2nd PCIe slot is used as well, otherwise the GPU will have its full 16 lanes (there are no switches on that board that move PCIe lanes to an SSD like there are on the Z790-E Strix, Z690 PG Velocita, Z690/Z790 Extreme, etc.).

That board has 3 M.2 slots on the board itself, so you can have 3 Gen 4 SSDs easily.

You should be able to yes. Usually you can actually have 4 and it just disables SATA ports and such. You wont notice it any difference.

From what I was reading on z790 u can use up to 4 m.2 without effecting pcie slot speed

That's not a bug, it's a feature called HDMI ARC. I believe you can turn it off in the PS5 options and/or the monitor options. Usually TV-s have that option, never tried/had it on a monitor.

Generally you can check for dead pixels by looking at a white image with max brightness. You can check for brightness uniformity by looking at a black image with max brightness in a dark room, it is normal for there to do some variation. Windows has a built in color calibration tool that requires you to use your eyes and adjust manually.

HungryHamster reacted to dilpickle in One burning question on my mind aboud LG C2 42" being OLED
The way OLED works is the most used pixels will wear out first. This is what causes "burn-in" and that's not even the right term. Its more accurate to call it "burn-out" and the best way to prevent it is to try to use all pixels equally.

Of course this is impossible but the best thing you can do to make it last longer is avoid static objects.

First off all the built in features like logo luminance and pixel shift are completely useless. I have them all off. Shifting the screen by a couple of pixels will make no difference at all for something like the taskbar.

Your wallpaper should be on slideshow mode. But to avoid over use you should have lots of varying images not just a couple of them. Personally I keep a black screen as my wallpaper.

You absolutely should not have any desktop icons. If you insist then you should move them around at least once a day.

The taskbar should be on auto hide.

You absolutely should not be showing a lock screen. Instead have your screen saver on a short timeout and it can open on the lock screen on resume.

I do all this and I keep my OLED on full brightness. These are the best practices if you plan to keep the display for a long time. If you plan to replace it in 2 or 3 years then you probably don't have to worry about any of this.

HungryHamster reacted to Eigenvektor in Memory requires SPD WRITE DISABLE to be FALSE. What does this mean?
It's telling you to disable write protection for the RAM's Serial Presence Detect. I assume that technically this could mess up the RAM if the wrong stuff gets written into it?

HungryHamster reacted to Senzelian in Confession: I didn't clean my radiator for 6+ years
If you had a purely pull configuration it would make cleaning the radiator really easy, as long as the open side isn't in front of a grill.

There is a really old LTT video that explains this:

You're probably right about this. I guess my point is just that with the push/pull configuration that one side still gets some cooling from the fans even though the other side is pretty much completely clogged with dust. I would theorize that my temps would be way worse with fans on just one side and potentially even catastrophically so.

HungryHamster got a reaction from NF-A12x25 in Confession: I didn't clean my radiator for 6+ years
I don't say this with pride, but I didn't clean the radiator on my Corsair H110i for 6+ years. My friend installed it for me and I just always worried about it leaking or breaking if I tried to take it out to clean it.

I'm making this post as a testament to the quality of Corsair AIOs and to the advantage of using a push/pull configuration. I credit the push/pull configuration for keeping at least one side of my radiator completely free of dust. I definitely think this extended the life of my AIO and continues to keep my CPU cool to this day (30C idle and always under 70C at full load) even though one side is completely covered in dust. That said, I highly recommend the push/pull configuration.

I should also mention that for about the last year my AIO has occasionally been making weird bubbling noises and yet it still hasn't leaked or stopped working. I'm very glad my Corsair radiator has lasted this long running almost 24/7. I'm certainly going with Corsair for my next radiator.

HungryHamster reacted to SimplyChunk in Confession: I didn't clean my radiator for 6+ years
the bubbling sound probably just means it needs topping up.  AIO (and open loops for that matter) do loose an bit of water over time due to ingress through the tubes.  there may be a fill port on the corsair.  you can top it up with a mix of distilled water and a little PG

Good game. I definitely recommend it. I used the flamethrower a bunch and it literally melted my GPU. 😄

Hopefully it gets people hyped for Warhammer 40k Darktide which comes out at the end of the month. I saw some people playing the beta for that game with a RTX 4090 and only getting around 60FPS (in 4k).

I'm a sucker for aggressive LEDs so I've always had a thing for the Sapphire Nitro + SEs, whether that's the 5700 XT, 6800 XT, or 6900 XT. Tripple ARGB fans, side strip, and logo + Great for its class cooling? Yeah... gimme that.

The pics don't do it justice, because IRL the fan lights are way brighter.

For me it's either the 780 Ti K|NGP|N or 980 Ti K|NGP|N. I'm a sucker for the copper heatsink of the 980 Ti and love the clear housing of the 780 Ti, plus they're the best GPUs of their respective silicon (at least top 3, the Matrix, Lightning, and HOF cards did still exist then and they were really good as well) and I'm a bit of an XOC fan. I'd probably lean more 980 Ti, but I'd want to get both of these (do already own the 980 Ti)

    980 Ti:

    780 Ti:

There are runner up cards like the 10 series Founders GPUs (IMO the best looking Nvidia reference cooler, though definitely not a good cooler), 980 Ti/R9 390 Strix (they're the same heatsink), and basically all the Galax HOF cards, though if I had to pick one it would be one of those two K|NGP|N GPUs. Not a huge fan of the other K|NGP|N cards, the 1080 Ti K|NGP|N isn't terrible, though not a huge fan of that chain link or whatever you'd call it heat sink shroud, and I'm just not a big fan of the hybrid GPUs the K|NGP|N lineup became for the 20/30 series versions.

Extensions are typically bought as a cheaper way to get a set of sleeved cables, as well as being able to move them to other PSUs, while replacement kits are specific to certain modesl of PSU.
