  1. Hi, My current homeserver is ok, but if something brakes everything stops. I don't like that anymore, too much hassle. I use unraid and with that Linux+Windows and Home Assistant VM's. Also I have several docker containers: redis, vaultwarden, emby, nextcloud, mariadb, navidrome, searcxng, collabora-code, gotify, code, homepage, jellyserr, ripper, beets, handbrake + severall privateering software. Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X Memory: 4x16GB 3200MHz Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO V2 GPU (emby/transcoding): NVIDIA Quadro M2000 GPU (Linux/Windows): GeForce RTX 3060 Ti LAN: 4-port Gigabit Network Adapter (Intel 82580) Cache: Samsung SSD 970 EVO 1TB Parity: 16TB HDD HDD: 1x16TB + 2x4TB (24TB total) Nextcloud HDD: Crucial MX500 1TB (via USB3.1) OS: Unraid I have to add more HDD space, but I don't have any free SATA-port. I have 4TB HDD that I can't use because of this problem. I also have RX 560 Gaming OC 4G that I would like to use with Linux VM, but there is no free slot in my motherboard. It's time to upgrade my setup. I want two computers, one for Linux/Windows VM's and second for everything else. This is where I need help. I have read many good thinks about Intel Quick Sync, maybe it is time to buy intel again? With intel CPU I don't need quadro M2000 anymore. I need 1-5 simultaneous transcoding. Maybe Intel Core i5-12400F or even something cheaper would work with my usage? I don't know anything about motherboard's for intel. I don't need WIFI or anything extra. Price and power usage is top priority with everything. Also I need more HDD, maybe it's time for expand card (SATA). Any recommendations? I would like to add my current 4TB HDD and buy one more 16TB HDD. Something like 3x16TB HDD + 3x4TB HDD. That should be enough for next 1-2 year. And when 4TB HDD brakes, I change them to 16TB or bigger. Or maybe it would be cheaper to buy "gaming" cpu/motherboard for Linux/Windows' VM? If I remove GTX 3060 Ti from my current server I get one slot for SATA expand card. But quadro M2000 use about 40-60W. If I buy new cpu/motherboard for the server I don't need Quadro M2000 anymore. For start, I split memory between two computers. Samsung SSD 970 EVO 1TB and Crucial MX500 1TB for Linux/Windows VM's. RTX 3060 TI for windows and RX 560 Gaming OC 4G for linux. Unraid works ok for VM's, maybe keep it for Linux/Windows VM's. Both VM's autostart. But I don't have to keep system power all the time anymore. But what about the server, maybe proxmox? TrueNAS does not support docker, if I remember correctly? Also, all my HDD is not the same brand or size, that is problem with ZFS (proxmox/truenas)? I don't mind buying used hardware, but I don't want anything "latest hardware". Something cheap and low power usage. Thanks for reading. Any recommendations?
  2. I have a wierd problem, my new HDMI 2.1 cable does not work with windows. I don't get any picture to my display. If I boot to linux, there is no problem. I have tried with to different GPU, with AMD GPU there is flickering picture first at windows login. After that the screen goes green. With RTX 3060 TI there is no picture at all. Both GPU works with linux. I have latest drivers in windows.
  3. Thank you for the tip about the headscale. I don't wan't allow communication between LAN and SERVER without VPN. I try to make everything easy, there is app for tailscale/wireguard for linux/android/windows. I keep VPN-connection active 24/7 so I can access SERVER all the time regardless of my connection (mobile, wifi or lan).
  4. Maybe I don't even need use VLAN, my pfSense has 4 port. I can use them? PORT 1 - WAN PORT 2 - LAN PORT 3 - IOT PORT 4 - SERVER
  5. Hi, I use unraid with my homeserver. I'm tired to constantly update and manage traefik, authentik and all other services related to security so I can access my server via internet. I have domain and use several subdomains (git.domain.com etc). I would like to change several things and make this easier to manage 1. I don't want to use domain 2. I don't want to use traefik/authentik/etc. I have never used VLAN's or WireGuard, but they are easier to manage than my current setup? I created diagram about my idea. I use VLAN's with my switch: home-lan, iot-lan and server-lan. They don't have direct access between them. With WireGuard I can access server-lan from home-lan or internet. With this setup I can stop using domain. All the services that run from the server gets static IP and hostname. After this I can connect to emby by just typing emby to browser, right? Any advice, is this correct? Can I make things even more easier? Thank you.
  6. I don't have sponsors like Linus, but still interestet to use my computer from the other side of my house. Is there any cheap way to complete this? I have ryzen prosessor and rtx 3060. Display 4k 60hz. I know there is hdmi cables, but what about usb..
  7. I'm moving from unraid to proxmox, but need advice with the storage. 2 x 4TB HDD 1 x 1TB NVME 1 x 256GB NVME 1 x 128GB SSD I would like to use proxmox for VM (Windows 10 for gaming), docker containers and network storage. For VM & docker I need speed. There is mixed information about ZFS cache. There is also talk about ZFS & LVM cache. I would like to use 128 GB SSD for proxmox. 2 x 4TB HDD as mirror? But what about those two NVME-drives? What is the "best way" to use those so I have everthing backed up, but also run VM & docker from NVME, not from HDD. Thank you for any advice.
  8. Hi, My current GPU is GTX 660 Ti OC, no joke. I have used it to test GPU passhtrough and everything seems to work. I have Windows 10 VM, 6 threads and 8 GB memory. CoredCAD works fine, but Civilization VI does not. Parsec uses about 10-20% of the GPU so almost every game I would like play does not work. I know, the GPU is old. So very old. I don't game that often, but maybe 1-3 times per month. For that I need GPU that works fullhd/60fps. That is the best that my laptop or my projector can handle. I don't need ray tracing, +100fps or even good 2K performance. Just good value for fullhd/60fps. Used GPU is ok option, is the value/performance is ok. I was thinking RTX 3060 Ti, but that cost here +500$. And I think it is "too much" power for my use. I pay resources that I can't use. Any suggestions? Thank you.
  9. I have almost same parts and same problem. My parts: AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200 C16 (32GB) ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING Memory speed 2133 MHz works fine, but if I use Ai Overlock Tuner and D.O.C.P. (regonize my ram) the system does not boot. Upgraded to the latest bios. Any ideas how to proceed with the problem?
  10. Thank you for the info. Little update. I also would like to run 1-2 VM, OSX and Windows (for AutoCAD). But is 6 cores enough? Ryzen 5 3600 is my current selection, but with those two VM's is it enough? With two GPU. Used xeon are quite expensive here (Europe). VM's does not need to run 24h. Only when I need them.
  11. Hi, I need help with the hardware for my homeserver project. I have 200/200 Mbps connection at home and I wan't do something cool with it. Software for my server: Unraid Active users ~10. Services to run via docker: - Nextcloud with photos, calendar, mail, collabora, on some other 'plugins' - Airsonic for streaming music, I don't like spotify - WireGuard for 10 device: Remote tunneled access (routing all traffic through the VPN and out Unraid's Internet connection) - Minecraft Server for 10 players - Pi-hole for blocking all ads from the internet Ryzen 5 1600 with 32gb memory?
  12. My choice is the NEW Razer Blade Stealth, why? Because I don't have time to sit front of my computer anymore. I need laptop, good laptop. I don't game that much anymore, but I think that NEW Razer Blade Stealth would be killer laptop for Arch Linux, CAD and stuff like that.
