so my GPU has three fans and one of the fans is constantly spinning no matter what. I've tried adjusting the fan curve on msi afterburner and using DDU uninstaller and reinstalling the latest drivers but nothing. After a while the fan will stop spinning for a few minutes maybe but then it starts spinning up again. Temperatures are fine and this is while the PC is idle. Msi afterburner also says my fans are at 0rpm when it clearly isn't. Specs if it helps: AMD Ryzen 7800x3d Asus TUF Gaming RTX 3080 12gb 32gb DDR5 6000mhz ram

So I've just sold my old PSU and need to ship it. But i no longer have the original box it came in or anything so was wondering how do i go about shipping it? Can i just put it in any old box i have or do i need like an anti static bag or something?

So i just ordered parts for my new PC build last night. Ive chosen the intel Core i7 12700k as my CPU and i currently plan to use my existing Noctua NH U14s alongside it since ive never had any issues with it. Although im statrting to second guess and was wondering if anyone thinks it should be fine. For the moment i'll probably keep my CPU stock and may do a small overclock later down the line but nothing to crazy. Or do you think i'd be better off with the Noctua NH D15s or D15 instead?

Personally i'll continue to use seeprate drives. Ive never done it for performance reasons but mainly because its just easier incase windows gets messed up for whatever reason and i need to reinstall it or whatever. That way all the games on my second drive is still there and i dont need to go and reinstall it.

I have bought used HDDs in the past and generally its served me well but in all those cases i didnt have any real important data on it so i wasnt afraid if it died so personally i wouldnt recommend it. Have you checked how much you can get a new hdd on like ebay or something since you might get sellers selling some "older" hdds that arent actually in stock anymore. Have a look since maybe you can get a new one for not too much more. But since your financial situation is limited if you can't afford a new one i'd say yh buy a used HDD. I mean it should be fine since you wont be accessing it all that much so hopefully it wont fail quickly but when you can afford to get another used or new HDD as another backup drive later down the line. That way if your backup drive also fails you at least have another backup. I also always recommend having at least 2 backup drives just incase especially if your sotring large amounts of data which i presume is important.

So the SSD in my other desktop just died so i figured this is a perfect opportunity to upgrade the sata ssd in my gaming desktop to an NVME and transfer the old sata ssd to my other desktop. I plan to just clone the drive using macrium reflect free since im obviously not changing any hardware other than the actual boot drive. I've used it before but not for cloning a boot drive so this is the first time. I'm assuming it will be a simple case of cloning the drive and then just transferring the drives and booting from the new NVME then right? But i was wondering since the boot drive letter is C the NVME will be assigned some other random lettter while i'm cloning it. Is this going to be an issue or will windows automatically reassign the letter C to it once i actually boot from the NVME? Also while im here does anyone have any recommendations for a 500gb or more NVME drive?

Some examples of some the games i play Forza Horizon 5, GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, the crew 2. I think those would probably be the most demanding games i play tbh. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): So my current PC build is a Intel core i7 6700k with a Noctua NH U14S cooler, 32gb ddr4 ram, Nvidia GTX 1080, 1 2tb SSD and 1 480gb ssd, Corsair 750W PSU and coolermaster H500M case. Looking at gaming at ultra settings1440p 60fps. Not too fussed at 4k gaming tbh since i imagine that may push me over my budget. I'm going to be keeping my SSD drives, PSU if i can but prepared to buy a new one if need to, case fans and PC case. Havent really kept up with the news of DDR 5 ram so not sure if i can just keep my existing ram or if i need to upgrade to DDR 5 if its worth it for futureproofing or performance. Also no clue if i'll need to get a new CPU cooler so if you can also advise me a decent cooler if need to upgrade it preferably Noctua since ive found them easy to install in the past. Not interested in water cooling

In my current build i have two ssd drives. One is just a boot drive so only holds windows/programs etc. The second ssd drive is where all my games are stored. In a few months I'm looking at building a new PC. I know I'll have to reinstall windows but i was wondering would it be ok if i simply moved the 2nd ssd that holds all my games to my new PC? Would that be fine given it'll be all new hardware?

My pc currently an SSD and HDD with the SSD being the boot drive with windows and the odd few games and a HDD holding the rest of my games. Decided to finally upgrade my HDD but wondering how do i go about transferring the games from my HDD to my SSD bearing in mind i still plan to keep windows on the existing SSD so im not planning on transferring windows or anything purely games. Can i just copy and paste the games on the HDD or clone the HDD onto the SSD or do i need to actually reinstall the games? Edit: just steam games

So i have 2 hard drives lying around so im looking at setting up a NAS for the first time? Im not really interested in any special features just something simple to access my files from multiple computers. So i have a couple of questions. Is it best to go for a used NAS system or a new one? I found a used Netgear ready NAS Duo V1 would this be ok if all im interested in is just streaming media files etc from it. Or am i better going with new like a Synology DS220j 2 Bay Desktop NAS Enclosure? Also does it matter what router i have? Asking because my router is an ASUS RT-AC86U and apparently it only supports upto 4tb hard drives maximum although im assuming this limitation only applies if plugging the hard drives directly into the router and not if using a NAS?

I need to copy roughly 1tb worth of data over to a new hard drive. It's just movies, tv shows, pictures etc. No OS or any programs on it. Is it best to just do the old copy and paste via Windows or cloning the hdd?

so i finally decided to overclock my core i7 6700k. currently ive overclocked it to 4.5ghz at 1.3v. ive been running aida64 for around an hour now i was wondering how long more should i keep running aida64 before considering it stable. also would you recommend any other stress tests applications before considering it stable other than aida64?

take out the cpu and have look on the cpu socket on the motherboard for any bent pins or anything. i reckon it could be some bent pins thats causing it not to boot or a simple reseating of the cpu could the answer. before you changed the cpu was the pc booting up as normal? it could be the cpu has gone bad but i highly doubt it

i built the PC recently back in august and bought everything brand new at the time. ive tried my old gtx 970 in the system and everything seems to be fine.

hi so ive been having some problems with my gaming PC. i have a nvidia geforce gtx 1070 and lately all my games are crashing. sometimes if i start up GTA 5 or any other game it simply crashes within 5 minutes but then sometimes it loads up fine and works no problem. ive checked my temperatures to check if maybe its overheating but the max my GPU temperature goes to is between 50-55 degrees. ive tried reinstalling my drivers and updating it to see if that solves it but still the same problem. i then tried to run heaven benchmark but it simply crashed within a few minutes. so does this mean my GPU is faulty?

depends. i mean personally its pretty unlikely that the zen will peform better than skylake i mean at best maybe on par with skylake and thats a big if. we just have no idea. not to mention its a while till it releases and even then you would ant to wait till people have tested in and posted reviews until getting one so it could a be alot longer than your willing to wait. right now 4 cores is more than enough and i don see that changing any time soon. remember its not just cores its also individual core speed. thats why intel performs generally better than AMD despite many AMD processors having more than 4 cores. so a 6600k would be great for gaming right now and should be able to last for a good 2-3 years unless something drastically changes not to mention if you get a decent motherboard you can overclock it. or you could get the 6700k which has hyperthreading if your that worried

so i just built a new system with a intel core i7 6700k running at stock speeds with a noctua nh-u14s as my CPU cooler and decided to use Aida64 to stress test my system. i ran it with stress CPU checked for 4 hours and my max temperatures went to around 46-50 degrees on the individual cores and 49 degrees for the cpu reading. i then ran it again for another 4 hours this time with stress FPU checked and my temps went higher with 63-70 degrees for the individual cores and around 67 degrees for the cpu reading. im wondering is it normal for "stress FPU" to produce higher temperatures than "stress CPU"
