One thing I've learned since moving to the US is that there's pretty much always a sale from every retailer around every public holiday. That's definitely not the case everywhere though and certainly not in the UK.

Can't answer for Malaysia, only you can. Depends on what you're happy with.

    In the UK:
You can return any purchase for any reason within 28 days, no questions asked. After that you have to demonstrate it's faulty. Warrenty periods also apply from purchase date. Sales usually only occur post-Christmas. That's changed a bit but it's far from how it is in the US where pretty much everyone does a sale around a public holiday Basically you're asking us to predict the future. That's obviously impossible. If you can test it, I'd buy it now with the intention of testing it when you get it, but by the looks of it you only have a laptop so that may not be possible. So it comes down to if $50 really makes a big difference to you and the budget. If it doesn't, wait. If it does, I'd consider buying today.

FYI, I have a Z690 mobo I bought in Feb that's still in the box... for a computer that's at least a few months away before it gets built.

Should not be basing your purchases off a damn tierlist that has like 1% of available psu models tested

But 65$ for a 650w gold and its new is not that bad of a price atleast in terms of new psus, id still advocate for used though cause 40-50$ gets you an 850w gold or here in neighbouring indonesia 50$ gets you
    this
So maybe your countries used market has some decent deals available

Btw 6700xt go for really cheap here in indo
Like 200$ for a card that annihilates the 6600 so maybe you can find some good deals on used 6700xt

You sure you cant get cheaper rams? Ram and ssd branding are completely irrelevant because all the components (dram, flash, controller, etc.) Are made by the same few manufacturers

    I mean 32gb is only 62$ new

Or you can pair some bare pcb oem sticks like

    This
And simply overclock to 3800/4000, so essentially you get a faster kit for cheaper (this is 47$ for 2 sticks), although you will have to do some manual tuning and prefer samsung or hynix cause you can request specific ram ics by just requesting the code (ex hma82gu6djr8n for dual rank hynix djr), technically they can go well past 4600 but thats mostly a cezzane only thing (5500/5600g/5700g)

Seems like a decent case though id double check gpu length and cpu cooler height compatibility, i bought a cyclops case with 3 incl rgb fans (23$) and the thing is too slim to fit a 120mm tower but i think i went abit too cheap, usually 30-40$ is the sweetspot for good cheap cases thanks to local brands and china

Also consider a ryzen 5500 or maybe you can find a tray version of the 5600/5500, here in indonesia pricing for 5600 is also ~130$ (2jt) and ryzen 5500 pricing is at 100$ (1.5jt)

Seems like a decent choice of mobo but you may wanna consider looking at the used market for a cheaper b3/450 mobo and sticking a 10$ wifi card on it, in indonesia i can find alot of used b350 tomahawks for 60$ and b450 tomahawks for 80$

If you have any local eshop app that allows you to check used deals like tokopedia or bukalapak then you can just send a link to the website and i can check prices and parts for you

The maximum turbo power for the 12400 is 117 W.
And the TDP of both of them is 65Ws.

My friend has an overclocked 5600 which runs under 75C under stress with the AMD Wraith cooler.

Oh yeah, you should go AMD then. Intel is rubbish, I forgot it does not have an unlocked multiplier.
Overclock some cores, or all of them, just a tad bit up and that should crush intel, as it was a 10% (at most) difference to begin with.

@Dez, you can't use AMD's FreeSync. However, the Maxwell and Pascal GPUs offer Fast Sync, which doesn't need a specific monitor to be used, which means you can use it anywhere. Fast Sync can be enabled in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Wouldn't recommend an MX150 at all, save up for something with a GTX 1050, or just build like a cheap R3 2200G desktop.

Also there's 2 versions of the MX 150, one is way worse than the other.

Ideapad 320 has mediocre overall quality. Aspire 5 is better. Also consider Ideapad 320s 14 (920MX D5) and Swift 3 (SF314-54/54G)

Not likely. If you're worried, then you could get your brother a 90 W adapter for less than RM50 online to replace his current one. All you have to make sure is:
    1. They have the same connector to the laptop
    2. They have the same OUTPUT voltage (view the sticker on the adapter)
    3. They have the same polarity (see below; also found on sticker on the adapter)

    Polarity:

Also, the only difference between the new and old adapter is their output amperage, which determines the wattage since the voltage is fixed (Rule 2 stated above).

That's done with artificial stress tests however on both the CPU and GPU your system will never see something like that under real world conditions.

@ZM Fong There's a review of another Acer Aspire 5 from notebookcheck.net, but with an i7-8550U instead, which I think has the same power consumption as the i5-8250U. Still, Acer is using the same 65 W adapter and the laptop consumes and average of 64 W under full load, reaching 66.4 W at most.

It's the best budget laptop in Malaysia. Go for it if you have budget constraint. Though you may want to upgrade RAM (must) and SSD (optional)

    18" 768p monitor.... *salute

I'd get the one with 1080p monitor then. As long as you dont do CPU heavy work (server-based games and paperwork for example) it wont be noticeably slower than that with 8th gen CPU.

Now I am aware the 8 GB model of the OnePlus 5 doesn't make much of a difference in performance compared to the 6 GB model. However, the thing I want to know is battery life. I've heard that having more RAM on your system sips a little more juice than if you had less. Is this true? Which model has better battery life or are they equal? Thanks!

Of course it is slower than the Ryzen 3 1200 since it costs half as much. The reason why I suggest this is the GT 1030. This card performs similarly to the old 750Ti, which barely holds 1080p at 60fps in new non-demanding games.

If you are willing to buy used graphics card then forget the Athlons. Cards like the gtx 760, 950, R9 260x/265, 270 can all beat the 1030 while costing about the same.

So much feels in this topic. I feel ya mate. Around 90% of tech enthusiasts like you and me all started out as poor bastards who couldn't really afford the best of the best when we were young and ended up with the cheap stuff. I bet the majority of those who get into tech literally started by Googling "How to improve FPS/performance in games" or something like that, since we didn't have such high-end tech to play around with. Good times...
