  1. I'm down to these 2 laptops and here are their main differences: Acer Aspire E5-575G-52H9 Pros: - Has USB 3.1 Type-C - 1 year warranty more than the Pavilion 15 - Has 802.11ac WiFi to support 5 GHz connections - Its 940MX runs on faster, GDDR5 VRAM Cons: - Has a slightly slower, i5-6200U - Has 2, slower USB 3.0 Type-A ports HP Pavilion 15-au102TX Pros: - Has a slightly faster, i5-7200U - Has 2, faster USB 3.1 Type-A ports Cons: - Has just 802.11b/g/n which doesn't support 5 GHz connections - Its 940MX runs on slower, DDR3 VRAM - Doesn't have a USB Type-C port - 1 year warranty less than the E5-575G (but doesn't really matter if you take good care of your computer) Based on the number of pros and cons, it is quite obvious the E5-575G takes the cake. However, does the faster i5-7200U CPU on the Pavilion 15 worth enough to ignore its cons? They are both of the same price. So, which laptop should I get? Thanks! (You can click on their names to go to the site I'm purchasing them from)
  2. Yes, in fact, I did. Its not from Acer, though, but I'm all for specs. Its the HP Pavilion 15-au102TX and it costs the same as the E5-575G.
  3. @ZM Fong @matzeesch @TheDankKoosh here they are: E5-475G E5-575G
  4. I've narrowed down my search for a budget gaming laptop and I've settled on these 2 models. Here are their main differences: E5-475G - i5-7200U, faster by 0.2-0.3 GHz - Smaller, 14" 768p display - Cheaper by about 100 MYR (~25 USD) E5-575G - i5-6200U, slower by 0.2-0.3 GHz - Larger, 15.6" 1080p display - More expensive by about 100 MYR (~25 USD) I'll be gaming, which the faster CPU on the E5-475G and lower screen resolution will give a slight framerate boost but I don't really wanna miss out the larger 1080p display. So, which one has a better value and which one should I get? Thanks!
  5. My smartphone is the OnePlus 3 (non-T) and I was able to set a custom notification tone of my choice before I factory reset my phone yesterday. I reset it because I found out that my phone would reformat its storage automatically to the faster f2fs from ext4. Although miniscule, I did notice a decrease in loading times especially in games like Asphalt 8. Previously before the reset, I set my custom tone by cutting and pasting the mp3 file into the Notifications folder in the File Manager and it'll just pop up when I went into the settings. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Thanks!
  6. All I need to know is which one is water-based (won't dry up after not used for some time). Thanks!
  7. Urgent help needed. Does anyone know how to solve question 5 in the image below?
  8. Finally got my first smartphone ever, the OnePlus 3. When typing messages, (i.e. WhatsApp and Messenger) autocorrect works perfectly while on Chrome, autocorrect seems to be disabled. Is there a workaround this? I've sent through all settings and I can't seem to find a setting for browsers. Here's an example of the problem:

  10. @SamStrecker You can test em' here.
  11. I don't know which one to choose. What are their differences and how do I choose? I'm settings up my phone right now and already I'm faced with such a dilemma!
  12. @Dogsparky Not too sure, but AFAIK, my 3-year-old 18.5" Acer S191HQL TN panel has no backlight bleed, dead pixels or whatsoever. Very satisfied 768p user. ???
  13. That PSU is somewhat on the below average level of reliability but it is still way better than OEM PSUs. The true maximum wattage for this PSU is roughly 588W, so you should be good running the power-efficient GTX 1070 in there.
  14. @Ashutosh Shahane Going used is not necessarily safe for all components. For CPUs, locked ones (like the i5-2400 you want to get) are usually safe to go used since they can't and never will be able to be overclocked. Motherboards, however, are more delicate especially components like the CPU socket. I suggest you get the used i5-2400 and a brand new LGA1155 motherboard.
  15. @Grays0n Welcome to the Linus Tech Tips forum! It depends. What is your PSU? Wattage doesn't say everything you need to know.
  16. @Afiq Azamuddin Welcome to the Linus Tech Tips forum! I suggest updating your graphics card to the latest drivers. The latest one for your card can be found and downloaded HERE.
  17. I'm not too sure about how it works exactly but AFAIK, I'm confident that the IMC in the CPU will wear out over time when exposed to higher voltages than specified. By the way, @drkknghtavngr what's your CPU?
  18. I agree, desktop DDR3L is quite rare in my country as well. If you can find a reliable and cheap adapter, then go for it.
  19. @drkknghtavngr You should get a replacement soon. What's actually happening is you're wearing out your CPU's IMC (Integrated Memory Controller) with those high voltages. After some time, you'll damage it completely and your CPU'll be one expensive paperweight.
