  1. Same thing happens for my 1600 MHz RAM, it is initially 1333 in the bios, but I have to set the XMP Profile and set the clock speed to 1600MHz. I haven't had any issues with my RAM in the 3 years I have had it.
  2. Hello all, I have been programming with cuda this summer with my computer science professor and I have been using cuda 7.0 and now cuda 7.5 with Visual Studio 2013. I have Visual Studio 2015 on my desktop and it doesn't seem like cuda is compatable with it yet since it is so new. I know Visual Studio 2015 doesn't have any features that I need really, but I was wondering if NVidia was working on compatability with Visual Studio 2015. Like I said it's not that important but I'm just curious. Thanks
  3. I don't know too much about mining, but from what I have heard ASIC miners may cost more, but they are built for mining and will likely pay off faster and they are probably better suited for 24/7 operation.
  4. Lol it doesnt even have a graphics card. For that much I got a laptop that I use for school and has a gtx 860m which I use for gaming and cuda programming. I've always thought alienware and macs were overpriced though.
  5. In gaming performance, this will be faster than your laptop I would think since a gtx 970 is faster than a gtx 970m and the cpu is probably as good if not better as well especially since you can overclock it. The cpu isnt as important in games and the i5 is still a great choice for gaming.
  6. Ok, I was screwing around with all kinds of settings and now it works in hibernate mode.
  7. For gaming, an i5 will do fine, but if you are going to be rendering videos and streaming and i7 would get you more speed. So if you are going to do more than gaming I would go with the i7.
  8. Yeah I think there is an eco feature. I'm installing ASUS AISuite now to see if that can fix it.
  9. I should have mentioned that I enabled the setting in the BIOS that allows my computer to start from PCI or ethernet. Thanks though
  10. I am moving back into college tomorrow morning and I decided to set up wake on lan and teamviewer on my desktop here so I could have access to it from my laptop while I'm at school. I was initially having trouble with it, and I ended up blowing dust out of my computer and I removed the power supply cable before doing this. After I put the cable back in, I could start my computer from my laptop. It turns out that when I shut my computer down from windows, the onboard ethernet loses power unless turn the power supply off and on again (I can tell by the light that that lights up the ethernet port). Is there any setting in the BIOS or OS that I missed? I have an ASUS Z87-A motherboard in my desktop. Thanks.
  11. I have had this issue, as many others have, for a long time and it happens whenever I enter a fullscreen game or boot up my computer and the monitor looks all washed out. I used to have windows 7 and I found a fix on a forum that I can no longer find. The fix was simple; I only had to modify 2 or 3 files with regedit. I installed windows 10 today and the problem is back. Does anyone know of this registry fix or any other fix?
  12. I upgraded earlier today and it didn't delete the files on my hard drive as I wanted, so burned the .iso onto a dvd and did a reset. The reset eventually failed and corrupted the partition, so I reinstalled the OS from the dvd and my old key didn't work. Now the OS is working fine, but it keeps telling me to activate windows. What can I do since there I have no valid key? Edit: I fixed it by finding the key with key finder program
