Hey guys. So. My friend is looking to upgrade his 6 year old system for music creation. He has a max budget of $1000 for a cpu, ram, and mobo. Im purely a gamer so I have no idea on the productivity side of things. He uses Sonar Platinum and Protools 12. Bette to go with a 2700x or an 8700k? He is also looking to get 64gb of ram as well.

Hey guys So I downsized to an ITX build and going to be putting my 8700k into an SFF PC just because it seems fun to do. (LOUQE Ghost S1) Thats a tiny case so I want to prep to make it as cool as possible whatever the step is. I hear about delidding all the time and I dont have any conductonaut or a delidding tool. Which is why Siliconlottery.com delidding and reseating for $60 is tempting. Is it worth delidding then? What are your guys' experience for delidding. Was it worth it in the end? I will be using a low profile cooler so I wanted to delid to try and help make cooling more efficient. (Thermalright AXP-100RH)

Hey guys So I have the Corsair SF600 and the fan is quite noisy as many have stated. i have a noctua 92mm i wanted to replace the original with. I hear that opening the PSU can be a bad idea as you can shock yourself. I dont consider myself an absolute novice tinkering on PCs but definitely no seasoned veteran. I would love to replace it with a smaller fan but should i not risk it?

Hey guys So I purchased a Cooler Master elite 130 for the meanwhile to prep my system for the Ghost S1 since both systems allow similar GPU sizes and CPU cooler heights. I currently have an i5 8600k and a GTX 1080 Ti FTW 3 in the cooler master case. The 1080 Ti takes in air from the outside vent on the side but exhausts it into the case as it is an open faced card (non blower). The CPU cooler is a Thermalright AXP-100RH w/ a noctua NF-F12 on it exhausting up instead of blowing air down on the heatsink. It is Exhausting up towards the top exhaust vent (meant for PSU intake) but there are some PSU cables blocking a direct path to the vent. I have 2 intake fans, one NF-F12 blowing air in from the front an and 80mm fan blowing air directly into the cpu heatsink from the side. The PSU is a Corsair SF600 with a 90 or 92mm fan. Basically the system will have a heat mixture of the cpu blowing air up and whatever 80mm fan is cooling on the motherboard along with the GPU exhuast. The only active Exhaust in my case is the PSU and passive exhaust is just the top vent. Should I be concerned at all? GPU is able to maintain its 0 RPM mode and when testing with TimeSpy, it goes up to ~75C. CPU gaming under load has bumped hit about ~60 probably from the hot air from the GPU. Idle cpu temp is also sitting at ~40. No OC (yet)

Hey guys So I decided to test me and my gf's builds out in Cinebench. I have an 8700k OC'd to 5Ghz @ 1.35v and she also has the same CPU + OC. I have mine in a Maximus X Hero and she has hers in a STRIX Z370 itx. We both have 16GB of 3200Mhz trident Z ram. Mine is CL16 and hers is CL14. I am averaging about 1560 in Cinebench CPU test but she is sitting at roughly 200-300 less points around 1216. I have ran this test 5 times now and it all comes out the same. Her's is being cooled by a Dark Rock TF w/ fresh air as intake and I have a Noctua U14s cooling mine. Hers is rated for 220W TDP and mine is rated for 160. both of our temps get hammered but it seems mine always performs better. Is it because its an ITX board vs my Maximus board? I can't really find a difference in why it performs so differently when they're both OC'd the same w/ same speed ram. Edit. I know it's not a big deal. Just curious on what's causing the difference Edit 2: 1.35v. not 1.5v

Hey guys so I'm redoing my and gf's rigs and im going to sell one of these and keep one. She's going down to a 1070 because her case doesnt allow it (itx). and I'm going to keep a 1080 Ti. Its going to stay under air cooling. Fancy LED's vs EVGA customer service. I'm just wondering which do you think I should sell and which to keep. Edit: Old post was added by mistake. -
