If you did go with that motherboard and cooler that means you could save some money as you wouldn't need to get the 6700k
True true very true

why do you need more room in the case? I think the difference might be like 3 inches.
The difference would be me having to get a shorter gpu(might be wrong on that though) and less room to manage cables
1 minute ago, TheRandomness said:Well, you'd have to use a 120mm AiO, but that shouldn't really be a problem. If it is, it comes with a cooler.
A very very loud cooler

32GB of ram for about 170$ saving another 50$
I have the money I'm sticking with the dominator platinums but thank you!

The most you really need for RAM, is 2133 or 2400. LTT tested it, and you actually see a decrease in performance after those. So you can save yourself around 100$ on the RAM if you go to 2400 or 2133. Also, I went with a EVGA +Gold PSU for like 80$ USD. You can save another 40$ right there.
I got the cheapest dominator platinum and I want a sfx psu so I can have more room in the case
1 minute ago, TheRandomness said:.... No it doesn't. It just uses narrow ILM cooler mounting mechanism (the socket is the same) and as Linus has shown most 120mm watercoolers fit with that.
so I could still fit a standard 2011-v3 mount on it?

Thank you for the recommendation

Why don't you just get the mITX Asrock X99 board?
Because it uses a 2011-v3 server socket which isn't the normal x99 socket
1 minute ago, Fourmi Kill3r said:I would go for the 980ti from Gigabyte (Xtreme gaming). There is a watercooled version if you want
I'm an EVGA fan boy and I like the looks of the hybrid a lot more. I would get the g1 gaming but it wouldn't fit in the case

No it's not Steam. I got the ISO file from a friend. I'm already logged in as an Administrator - is it necessary to run specific applications as admin?
You can be logged in as admin but that doesn't mean programs will run as admin. Usually (with me anyway) if I have an issue with steam or a game in steam I run steam as admin and it fixes the issues I am having. And since it is an ISO try and google your problem im sure other have had the same issue as you before
-
If it is through steam, Run steam as administrator If that doesnt work let me kow

For my house (based on my electricity cost of $0.13341/kWh) it would cost me about $32.14 a month for each 2950 not including the added cost of cooling. This is based off a calculator that converted 3 amps at 110v to 330 watts (330 watts @ 730 hours = 240.9kWh). In comparison, an R610 uses roughly 1 amp of power so it would only cost a third of that ($10.71 a month). It's not insanely expensive but for $32 a month I can rent a much better server with a much better network and it's 100% silent and won't turn your closet/office/garage into a boiler room. And compared to my DS115j NAS that does everything I need it to at only $13.83 a year.
See I want a physical machine but I dont want to pay $32 extra a month haha damn now im in a pickle
-
See they will be used in a home environment by me myself and I and whoever I give my plex info to. How much would 1 tack on to a electric bill?
-
Haha are they really that bad??

Personally, I'm glad to finally be getting rid of those power hungry monsters, they are so much more expensive to run compared to R610 it's depressing especially with a fraction of the performance (an extra $360 a year per server and they only support SATA II with SSDs and quad core CPUs).
I'm gonna be running one as a file server/plex server and run some linux VM's to screw around with. And the other will be an off site back up of the first one

WOW! Thank you so much for this link, I can make so much money off that website because I've been selling Dell 2950s without hard drives all day long for $300 each on Craigslist and have a handful of buyers who want me to call them when I have more for sale. Those R610s are expensive as hell though.
They are a local company and I try to get them some business when I can
I'm buying two 2950 III later this month from em for "stuff" haha
