  1. Hi guys, trying to update the BIOS on a Z87-WS so that it will work with a 4790. But with old or the latest BIOS I can't get it to post with a 4790 (works perfectly with a 4770). Suggestion is that I need to update the firmware as well, and that EZ Flash doesn't do this. BIOS flashback isn't working for some reason so my only option is the BIOS updater utility, but I can't find it anywhere. There was an application that came with a BIOS download called BUPDATER, but on windows 7 it says it's not compatible with this version of windows and on win10 it says the app can't run on my PC. Anyone got a link? Cheers
  2. Hi guys, Just got a cheap second system with a 680 which I've been playing around with and overclocking. Played a game at 1440p and afterwards saw HW monitor's maximum memory usage at 99% whilst the frame buffer peaked at 60%. Is this the card's 2GB running out? What is the difference between the two numbers? Thanks for your help
  3. I have an Asus UX305 with an m3 6y30, and have recently started using a 1080p monitor with the laptop, extending the display. When using 2 displays the CPU gets very hot and there is often stuttering and dropped frames whilst doing simple tasks such as chrome with 5 tabs on one display and spotify open on the other. I understand that because my laptop display is 3K then the GPU has to push a lot of pixels and this might be demanding, but shouldn't a modern mid-range laptop be able to run 2 displays with no problem? Should I look into extra cooling or is there a software solution I am missing? Thanks in advance for any help
  4. Thanks, exactly what I was looking for, but is there anything that is in the UK, ships to the UK, or is on ebay? Thanks again for the rapid reply
  5. Hi, I have an ITX build in a Prodigy, with an SSD, 2 hard drives and an optical drive. However I recently added a third hard drive, and this has used up all of my 4 SATA ports on my mobo. So I have disconnected my optical drive as I only use it occasionally, but in the future I know that I will need it and so I was wondering if there existed a cable which would allow me to plug the SATA interface directly into an internal USB 2.0 header? I know of cables that allow you to plug the drive into a regular external USB plug but I like my builds neat and tidy and don't consider this to be a very elegant solution. Does this product exist? Thanks in advance
  6. I thought that we could do a thread where we post our WoT screenshots where we played really well. I've just completed a fantastic game: This was achieved with a Matilda using a 3in Howitzer. I'm sure that some people have beaten my, but my previous highest kills per game was consistently 2, so I'm proud of myself. Post your screenshots!
  7. Anyone found one recently? I think they're gone. http://www.thebannervault.com/
  8. Cheers.Yeah I give up, I'm getting that adapter. And I do 'vaguely' know what I'm doing, but it looks messy because I hadn't tidied it up as it wasn't working yet. Wall adapter here we come. Thanks for your help.
  9. I've taken apart two old DVRs which have actually never been used. They came with 25W power supplies. My plan was to convert them to 12v DC power supplies, for use to charge batteries for my micro RC cars. I have seen this done before with these exact same battery chargers, and it is known to work, but only with the wall adapters which only have a positive and negative output, rather than these more complex power supplies. The chargers accept 12v or 8 AAs. I am powering the chargers through a 4 pin molex for the IDE drives which was used in the DVR. And I have checked that the power supply is working fully, and it is, the molex powers up the IDE drive. I am also sure that the power supplies are in fact powerful enough for the chargers. Does the power supply have some safety mechanism which turns the PSU off when there is no motherboard connected? Because the charging light turns on the chargers for a fraction of a second when the power supply is powered on. It wasn’t working, so I shorted the PG (Power Good) and a Ground Wire, and it made no difference to either PSU. Any ideas? Or should I ditch this idea and get a 12v wall wart or convert something like this:http://www.amazon.co.uk/Power-Supply...747629&sr=1-15 (I'm in the UK) Cheers
  10. These are all great ideas. I would also like to see how the product stacks up against its competition (i.e. which is best, and in which areas).
  11. I'm still running Vista on my laptop from 2008. It was a little shaky at first, with 2 or 3 blue screens of death, but I haven't had a problem for at least 3 years now, and I prefer the layout to the Windows 7 layout. I think that people hate on Vista as it was a poor product when launched, and got a poor reputation. Microsoft fixed the issues, but most people had already written off Vista, and then jumped to Windows 7, never looking back and still thinking that Windows Vista was a horrible OS. Just my £0.02
