  1. When I had this issue on cable it was because one of the coax cables was bad off of the splitter. I had a tech come and he found the issue when testing the lines.
  2. the user should be added to the Remote Desktop Users group, yes?
  3. do you live in a congested area? try switching channels on the 2.4 band
  4. naw, that is my father in law's PC. it barely boots.
  5. I run Plex on a Intel core 2 quad with Ubuntu server with zero issues. You can rip discs on another PC and drop them in the server via a share. You don't need 3/4 of that stuff IMO
  6. Outside home network related --- What speed is your ISP giving you? Internal stream related (home only) -- Are both your router and switch labeled as 'Gigabit'? If either say 'Fast Ethernet' you're bottle-necking.
  7. you won't find three quality cameras for that price. you haven't budgeted for the software either. this stuff that comes with the camera is usually shit.
  8. I run Plex on Ubuntu server and have had zero issues. You can map drives easily for drag and drop options I run a separate machine for storage and surveillance
  9. you can just use old hardware if you want and have it laying around. if you need to build something it may be harder to find 'older' stuff online. also, if you want to try a cool project you could put the TS server on a Raspberry Pi. I did that w/ Mumble.
  10. I run machines on the cheap. If I had more recent hardware I would run VMs so.... I run Plex on ubuntu server and have zero complaints (Intel Dual core quad) I seed torrents and put my surveillance on Windows Server 2008 using Sighthound (Intel Dual core duo) I host a Mumble server on a Raspberry Pi
  11. I have two access points and they are not identical and they do not seamlessly hand off. The device will eventually take the stronger signal though.... IIRC you would need something close to enterprise level to do this like Aruba networks. Ubiquity has something called zero hand off and they are used by consumers pretty regularly https://help.ubnt.com/hc/en-us/articles/205144590-UniFi-What-is-Zero-Handoff-
  12. I have been running a Mumble server on the B for year and it's incredibly stable.
