  4. hey, So yesterday i came back from a long trip and i go to turn on my pc, my motherboard usually has a red led that is on when it is getting power, but it wasn't so i started freaking out. i look at what the weather had been when i was a way and i found one day where my house had a power surge. i have a surge protector on my pc but i was still pretty scared that my pc was destroyed. i thought that maybe if i did the green and black start it would work, but when i did it all that worked was the hard drives. i do some research and found out that my mother board has a glitch where the bios may corrupt if it isn't turned on in a long time. so i take out the bios battery and wait about 10 mins i put back in the 24 pin connector, it works i flash the bios then go back into it to set it up. this is when it starts to detected only 8gbs of ram, i do some trial and error and find that on of my 8gbs sticks isn't working. so i try to boot of that stick and my motherboard decimal screen says "20" then turns its self off. i couldn't get it to post off the ram or any thing. i cant launch a warranty request until the 9th, i there another way to make sure it is dead. the memory has worked for about 8 months. why would it die now? cheers beefmaster
  5. the on start up is about 45% when i start oepnign up my applications it gets to about 100% for about 2 seconds then drops back down and till it settles around 3-13%
  6. its wierd somtimes i start it and i get like 40-50 and sometimes i get like 60-90 i would atleast think that the intel stock cooler would at least keep it stable on the windows home screen
  7. hey, i have recently built a computer and have 4790k and a gtx 980. i have installed windows and have been using my heavily for the past 3 weeks or so, i noticed aftr the first day or so i noticed that sometimes my computer would be running slower get only 2 fps on ugine valley and the audio would be distorted i found disabling the driver restarting once or twice would fix the problem. the boot time is also alot slower like just getting to the post screen takes longer and the windows 7 anamtion were the balls of light has screen tearing in it. but over the past couple of days it has been getting very bad and my normal technique of restarting doesn't work i checked the temperatures of the cpu and the cpu is getting very hot when i am just on the windows home screen. why is it getting so hot?? i live in a cold area where it is about 14c and doesn't get much hotter then that so i have no idea why the hellmy cpu is getting such high temps once it even got up to 96c. i went into the bios and change the fans to full speed i cant hear any audible difference and i manually turned up the cpu fan up to 1.5(i am using the stock cooler and thermal paste). why is it suddenly getting so hot??? Is this the reason its lagging out so much that the audio is getting distorted or is the gpu not doing it fair share of work?? please help i have been trying to get it to work for the past 5 hours. thanks in advance.
  8. no i have not plug anything into the rear ports and i have been using the front ports because i didn't put the io shield on my pc because it looked ugly.
  9. hey, I have just built a pc and have been loving the experience. The build was quiet straight forward and all the components look to absolutely fine and i highly doubt they have been damaged. i have installed what windows says are the latest drivers and nvidia has almost installed there custom audio driver. What i am experiencing is some times when i turn it on like 1/2 the time, the audio is awful its cracking distorted and just unusable. i have found just restarting the computer until the problem goes away is the only way i can use my computer. Even after doing this after about 4-6 hours it starts to pop. This is sending me crazy, the head phones i am using are not at fault i have tried alot of different headphones and still experience the same problem. i am running a DPC latency test and have found that my us are over 8000 is this bad or is it normal, and this occurs when i am experiencing the issue. i do not know the us when i am not experiencing the issue. i do not have any kind of external dac or sound card i am running my motherboards default realtech on board sound card. i am greatly disappointed with gigabyte if this is there out of box functionality, i feel myself lucky that i have an internet connection and can attempt to fix this. if any one has experienced this issue please help. thanks in advance.
  10. i would do that but i am on like 6mb adsl so i spent most of my bandwidth and most of last night downloading this stuff and working out the driver issues that i am having so i would prefer not to restart
  11. hey, i built my computer yesterday and installed windows on it. when i was installing windows it didnt show my ssd but the bios did so i just installed on to the hdd. i have now got the ssd working and would like to move windows on to it. i have very little on hdd so it can fit on to my ssd if i need to copy the whole drive i can. the ssd is a Samsung evo, i installed this migrate thing from the driver disk so i am hoping that is a one click solution to this. i have looked at some guides on line and they are saying i need to reinstall windows or put it on a external hard drive. i am kind of broke after buying my pc so i cant really buy an external hard drive. thanks sorry if this questions been asked like a billion times.
