JZStudios got a reaction from Entropy. in 10k speaker system- ideas? (Yes, USD!)
I mean that a lot of producers use that exact model of Yamaha studio monitors, and a relatively inexpensive calibrated mic will get the response done pretty accurately. i.e. the same way a music producers setup is done.

There's a lot that goes into proper room treatment other than just buying panels and placing them around. For $10k I recommend you find out if there's actual experts to get the job done, and it won't be cheap. They have to measure the room and surface types, speaker placements, and reflection locations, then if they're any good, make custom panels. The material isn't cheap, and neither is the labor. If you're not willing to do that, tossing curtains over the windows and some random foam panels isn't enough for that kind of system. Also, just typically speaking, the more expensive speakers are for load sensitivity and pressure level output. Which in a room that small is unnecessary, unless you want to blow out your ears. And for that matter, actual heavy blackout theater style curtains are ~$100. And Walmart stuff won't cut it.
Spare room/den, whatever. Doesn't really matter. $10k on a stereo setup is ludicrous when proper room treatment and a $2500 setup will get you the same result as the mixing engineer. The thing about a properly balanced mixing system is if you input a 1k sine wave, the speaker should produce a 1k sine wave. This holds true for every speaker. THD and all that is effectively complete nonsense as long as it's below like .1%, which even dogshit speakers are. The primary point is, if you buy any decent set of speakers, it should be calibrated, and then it will sound pretty much the same as any other set. The timbre might vary slightly, but I'm honestly doubtful. If you calibrate your speakers in a treated room, you can get them to sound like pretty much any other speaker with a parametric EQ. Which, considering your playing from your PC, is freely available in EqualizerAPO.

Those Japanese dudes are spending fortunes on their kit and gear in rooms that clearly aren't designed for it. It's literally wasting money. That's also assuming all the snake oil they're buying is actually true. Which it isn't.

No, every calibrated test I've seen of SVS subs had a very flat response across the frequency range from like 20hz to 200hz or something. They're ridiculous. Why you think that makes them bad for music is beyond me. There's no logic behind that. The most important thing for a sub is placement. You're not getting a big sub, or even a small sub, that's hitting 20hz without causing shit to rattle. Again, 50hz is 50hz. If it's too loud, turn it down. The SVS subs should even have the phase on a pot, so placement can be even looser.

The placement, again, I'd ask actual local professionals if you can. If the price of lumber weren't so astronomically high I'd actually rather suggest you build a dedicated listening room.

My only viewpoint is I've taken a disliking to audiophiles because they, for lack of a better term, snort their own farts. They don't actually care about the music, they buy into expensive bullshit, they look down on people with lesser systems, and when presented with actual facts they just cry. And they do shit like buy their own power poles and $100k speakers for their 250sq/ft apartment.
If you want to spend $10k, I can't stop you. All I'm trying to tell you is it would be better to get your room professionally treated, and if you aren't, then $10k on a simple stereo setup is pointless. Actual musicians, mixers, audiologists, electrical engineers, and recording engineers really don't like audiophiles.

JZStudios got a reaction from jones177 in CD Project Red expects Cyberpunk2077 will eventually be a "very good game"
Witcher 3 improved rather than fixed. The initial release of Witcher 3 was fine, and far more stable than anything Bethesda has done. The post release stuff of Witcher 3 was some UI and QOL changes with minor bugfixes.

2077 is straight broken, it's been a year since launch (HOLY SHIT!) and it's still not much better. Keeping in mind that they started developing 2077, paused, made the entirety of the Witcher 3, then went back to work on 2077 after W3 was supposed to have solved some issues like open world. How they went from their prior game releases to 2077 is astounding.

It starts getting into what else in your room can rattle. Any windows and doors can start to rattle. Going off his current room and anything like lamps, wall art, etc. can start rattling. It doesn't matter what sub. Everything has it's fundamental frequency and it will start vibrating. Just in my bedroom, my closet door starts rattling pretty hard at 40-45hz. I'd have to remove the door to get rid of the rattle. Doesn't matter what sub you use, it's going to start rattling at 40hz.
This feeds back into an untreated room.
He said he's only doing music, and while I experiment with surround and ambisonic, it's not near prevalent enough to matter nor recommend. Though the albums that do it right are pretty awesome. I'd say the same for movies. For 90% of movies it's not really worth it as a lot of directors don't care much about audio, or they're heavily dialogue based.

Auralex. But whatever you do isn't going to be cheap, and it's best if possible to rip the walls off and put more isolation and padding in the walls to begin with.
Also, why he get a heart for saying the same thing I've been saying since the beginning with no argument?

*Update, after years of court dates and multiple trials/courts, the Canadian Supreme Court has ruled in favor of Mike Ward, the comedian with a 5-4 vote and charges are dropped.

It's here, ladies and gentlemen, freedom of speech and expression officially gone in Canada. A Canadian comedian has been taken to court and fined a rather large sum over a joke.
    This leads to a monumental moment of absolutely insane stupidity and hypocrisy of the "freedom" of Canadians;
Which is just... fantastic. MWAH. Beautiful.

Originally he was also supposed to pay $7,000 to the mother of the "victim," which the courts denied, since she wasn't directly influenced or mentioned by the joke. At the very least if you make a joke the audiences family members aren't entitled to emotional compensation.

Somehow making a joke is now actually impeding on peoples equality.

He intends on not paying it and preferring prison time instead, and plans on taking the case to the Canadian Supreme Court.

Meanwhile various news articles and Nazi Pug Man have reported on this moment of inclusiveness and expressive freedom.
    https://pjmedia.com/trending/canadian-comedian-ordered-to-pay-35000-over-a-joke/

As a personal note, I remember getting into an argument not too long ago about how dangerous this kind of thing was where you can be fined or jailed for calling someone a name or saying a joke they don't like, and I was lambasted as people swore this would never happen, like it did to Nazi Pug Man, who was both arrested and fined, and now any job he manages to get the media sniffs out and promptly ensures he gets fired, so he's basically unemployed and unemployable now.

No, they'll use modified real guns. They'll remove the firing pin so they can't shoot or otherwise mod them so they can only shoot smaller blanks, which still have a wad. If they're pistol whipping someone it can be a foam or rubber all painted up.

    But yeah.
Blanks provide the recoil, and the wads aren't dangerous past a couple feet. I forget who, but back in the day some dumb actor or musician thought it would be cool to shoot himself with a blank at a party. Pretty sure that ended the party right quick. It's very uncommon to have real live guns on set, much less actors shooting them. John Wick and similar will have actors train on firing ranges for how to use it, but not in the filming. Guess Baldwin skipped that bit.

Blanks shoot small paper or plastic wads, if they aren't just crimped charges. It was definitely a live round, it went through one person and lodged in another. A blank can't do that. Though I am curious what distance before blanks become non-lethal.

Rule #1 of ANY firearm. It's ALWAYS loaded and it WILL kill anything you point it at. You're making conjecture to argue for no reason. Children with Nerf and Airsoft understand this rule. The only people that don't, know nothing about guns. Also, 99.9% of people that are anti-gun, have never been around one, much less shot one, and even less been trained on one.
And yes, I 100% would come down on him for using a real bottle. You clearly didn't watch the video I posted. These prop makers take exceptional care with their equipment to make sure no one gets hurt. The prop guy isn't handing him a real bottle and telling him it's fake. He also shouldn't pick up random things and assume they're fake. That's toddler behavior.

It's pretty ironic though, you gotta admit. He was pretty consistent about giving people shit for shootings, thus we need gun regulation, so I hope you don't defend that behavior.

Not really. The cars aren't known for reliability, the customer service is very known for being terrible at best and non-existent at worst, none of his release plans for any vehicle or production has been met to date, overstatements is an understatement, even things like the Tesla Semi if they lived up to their marketing would still be pointless, he knowingly showcases and sells false products that don't even exist, and he's an egotistical asshat. They're even upcharging people $400 to access their own heated seats.

Tesla is a complete joke, and the only reason people buy them is because they were the first big push into government subsidized EVs. Now Ford, Porsche, VW, and others are entering the EV and hybrid market and they're all much better than Tesla. The only reason Elon runs Tesla is to fund SpaceX.

Check out the cybertruck, his claims of ramping up production, the roadster, the Semi, solar titles, opening factories, self driving cars by 2020, etc. and literally none of them have worked or happened yet.
