  1. I have a Minisforum UM480XT at my office with Windows 11. I often have connectivity issues. RDP is timing out/reconnecting. Or trying to access network shares hosted by this PC sometimes is just unavailable briefly. I'm connected over ethernet and wifi is disabled. I've never had RDP issues with other pcs on my network. Is there something specific I can watch for in Event Viewer to see what might be going wrong? Or maybe some other utility I can use to see what might be happening. The problem is very intermittent. Sometimes the connection issues are back to back within minutes making it feel unusable, and other times it seems to go quite a while without any problem. Incidentally, as I'm writing this, I've been RDP'd into this system for quite some time and haven't noticed anything. Also, I'm connected to another RDP session that I use every day on my PC and I don't see this same warning while I'm getting it on the problematic pc. Reminder, this is all within my local LAN, no outside access.
  2. I already suspected as much about the cable length, but figured I'd ask. It's an LG from 2019 or so. I did notice "instant game response" in additional settings but it was already enabled that didn't help. Apparently there was a special picture mode called gaming and it does feel better. Thanks!
  3. I've been interested in playing pc games through my tv so I can relax a bit more. But the lag between button press to when it renders on the tv is really bad. About half a second delay, which is not enjoyable for pretty much any game. Is this an HDMI cable length issue or just a TV not great for gaming issue? I feel like when I connect my old wii through hdmi it plays just fine so that's why I was thinkin maybe cable length issue. Using an amazon basic 9.8 foot cable. Thanks
  4. Just installed crackdown 3 and tried to play for the first time. But I literally cannot reasonably play this game. The moment I try to use my mouse to move the camera, performance completely tanks. Generally, I haven't been playing much on this pc in a while, csgo and dota 2. I currently don't have any issues in those games. But crackdown is literally unplayable even with everything turned down to the absolute lowest. See this capture https://youtu.be/isWJOtGi7cs Ryzen 7 1700x oc 3.8ghz 16 GB Ram 3200mhz Radeon R9 390 8GB SSD Storage I'm feeling like maybe my cpu is defective. What are your thoughts?
  5. I don't have the box, I bought this almost 2 years ago.
  6. I think I need to fill out a warranty for my ryzen 1700x but before I can submit the form, they are asking for a serial number... and well, I'm wondering if there's a way to get the serial number without removing the heat sink etc.
  7. Naturally I disabled it when I came to the realization that was what caused it. But I'm not convinced it's a widespread issue. Do you have AMD or Intel, AMD or Nvidia?
  8. How about adding to the conversation instead of bashing windows 10. This doesn't happen on other pc's.
  9. For a long while I've been suffering from a really frustrating, keyboard smashing inducing, performance problem. Basically on regular intervals things would be fine and then gpu usage would plummet and in game and even desktop performance would freeze or just be extremely slow to respond until a few seconds later. And as you can see, this would just ruin many competitive game situations. I even reformatted and installed windows fresh just in case but it continued even after that. Finally after many months of living with this. I came to the realization that the problem ONLY happens when my wall paper changes in windows 10. But the heavy question... what do you think is the defective part. CPU Ryzen 7 1700x or (Was oc'd to 3.8 but even after disabling OC problem persists) GPU: Radeon R9 390
  10. Priced dropped another $50 USD today. That's insane. $240 with prime. https://amzn.to/2M2q61J Anyone formerly with Ryzen 5 1600x budget might seriously consider stretching
  11. Linus plays badminton. Don't get so offended, it's a joke. p.s your SJW side is showing
  12. Seems like something Linus would be interested in. https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/02/isis-builds-quadcopter-bomber-with-dji-drone-and-badminton-supplies/
  13. Anyone here use google plus? There appears to have been a change of some kind within the past day or two and now I'm getting notifications/emails like crazy from a community that I'm part of. Does anyone know how to edit or turn off notifications and emails? I only want a notification or email if I'm directly replied to if possible.
  14. You can pay 10 bucks a month from any value shared host that will let you host dozens of static info sites. I think it's a hard value proposition for you to rent servers because of how cheap collocation can be, as low as 50 bucks a month for gigabit link and 10TB transfer, in addition to cheap virtual private servers. More importantly, you probably don't have a network uptime SLA. You'll need the network infrastructure in place to segregate their servers from your lan and prevent these servers from saturating the network and preventing you from doing your own work. Then you have liability concerns if they turn out to be crazy people running some child porn network.
  15. Is office 365 out of the question? For what you need. Sounds like it would be a perfect fit for your email and cloud backup. General web hosting is cheap. Unless you need more oompf for a shopping cart like magento. For what you are describing, you could build a modest pc with regular consumer parts to virtualize a few servers and handle this. But if you don't know how to configure the servers, maybe not worth the cost of equipment to do this in house. For accounting purposes you are choosing between an asset that will depreciate vs a standard expense. You'll need 3 basic servers unless Some apache/nginx for websites Zimbra for email owncloud for backup
