Ulincsys got a reaction from Agonizel in LTX in picures
For Context, I'm a St. Louisan who had never left the state of Missouri. For my first ever out-of-state trip, I decided to take a weekend in Vancouver (to attend LTX). Here's my account of the expo.
And the most memorable picture of all
I was super psyched about getting to meet Barnacules, and I'm a big Taran fan as well

Ulincsys got a reaction from GoodBytes in Canadian phone plans
I got lucky, there's one right next to my hotel! I tried the bacon chicken sandwich, it was pretty good.
I gave up on phone plans completely, I'll just use the hotel WiFi when I need to call or use the internet. Aside from that, I took a walking tour of downtown Vancouver, and it was wonderful. Also, I am thoroughly excited for tomorrow! The skytrain runs almost all the way from where I am to the Oval.

Ulincsys got a reaction from jakeeberhart in Can I use a usb flash drive as a main hard drive?
Yes, when using Linux you have two options with a USB drive. You can either install the OS in live mode (depending on the distro you choose) which will allow you to boot fresh each time and even save a couple settings, or you can do a full install to the USB drive, which would allow you to use it as though it were a traditional HDD.
Either way, you must consider a few things:
- Is the flash drive capable of read/write speeds fast enough to accommodate the operations of the OS and all of your requirements?
- Are you willing to give up a USB port for the entire duration of your computer's on-time while using the USB drive as your main drive?
- Are you willing to risk losing data in the event that the flash drive fails (unlikely, but still possible)?
