  1. So I am overclocking my ryzen 5 1600 which is in a msi b350m mortar arctic mobo with the latest bios. It's stable under prime 95 up to and including 3.7Ghz on stock (1.255v) voltage, and 3.8Ghz at 1.275v. However whenever i put in 3.9Ghz or higher no matter the voltage it justs downcloack to 1.5Ghz and stays there even under load. I've no idea why and i cannot find any setting in the bios that seems to point to this behaviour. Thermals are in check peaking at 62 celcius on the package with a hyper 212 evo under prime95 blend (at 3.8Ghz, 1.275v). Does anyone know how to stop this mysterious downclocking at anything 3.9+Ghz? Thanks in advance
  2. Whenever i load either cpu-z or hwmonitor my mouse will regularly freeze momentarily and then jerk forward again. This only happens with these two programs and is not a performance issue since i can have prime95 or cinebench running in the background and the mouse cursor will be fine. Specs are ryzen 5 1600, msi b350m mortar arctic, rx 460. Has this happened to anyone and does anyone know hot to fix it. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling programs to no avail. Thanks in advance
  3. I remember my USB ports stopped working once due to an unstable overclock if that helps
  4. so i am overclocking my ryzen 1600 and i usually disable the power saving feature in the bios but i cannot find it in the msi b350m mortar arctic's bios. Does anyone know what it is called/where it is in there? Thanks in advance
  5. @Damascus why would there be any paste on the IHS?
  6. @rrubberr annoyingly, I am still waiting out for a good deal on some ddr4 so cannot check at this time
  7. I just bought a brand new ryzen 5 1600 from amazon. The IHS on the cpu was slightly dirty with some small brown streaks being the best way to describe them. A quick clean with some isopropyl alcohol left it looking pristine however. The box was sealed etc. and so the dirty top was my only cause for concern. Is this normal or could it be a rebox? is it worth demanding an exchange? Thanks in advance
  8. What is the maximum stable frequency of a 2 x 8gb ddr4 set in a msi b350m mortar arctic with a 1600? Thanks in advance
  9. As the title states a discussion on Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum vs Razer Naga Hex v2 moba. Please disregard price and anything to do with ambidextrousness (right handed). Also if you know what would you expect to pay second hand for each of them in the uk Thanks in advance
  10. Can you get to the BIOS or is it not even posting
  11. Looks like its just fluctuating with GPU usage so not the GPUs fault? if you were gaming I'd say maybe vsync is on. You could try a benchmark or something to see if the frequencies are stable when usage is pinned at 100℅ but I don't know just guessing
  12. If you mean that one of the sticks is faulty just take it back and get a replacement shouldn't be a big deal for you or the seller DOA ram is more common than you'd think one of my first sticks of ram were dead too
  13. So i'm keeping an eye out for a second hand 1600 but I was thinking that maybe most of the 1600s for sale would be on sale because they don't oc well? Why else would someone sell their cpu so soon after launch? What is your opinion on this, is it a valid assumption or... Thanks in advance
  14. @ZM Fong Is the difference in components going to be noticeable in terms of oc potential? I was leaning towards the MSI until you said that!
  15. Purely in terms of oc potential only, which is the superior board out of the Asrock AB350M Pro 4 and the MSI B350M Mortar arctic? The Asrock has 6 power phases vs the MSI's 4 but the msi seems to have a beefier heatsink so does anyone know which would oc better?
