Yeah, I've been getting this problem with a couple of my games recently, namely Metro: 2033 Redux and Mirror's Edge. I haven't seen it happen on anything else though (yet). I'm on Windows 8.1 as well, and my driver version is 344.60, haven't tried it out on 347.09 yet (though this seems to just be an optimisation patch for MGS:GZ and E:D so I doubt it'll fix it). I'd put your driver version in the OP, might make it easier for people to help you out

I did remove it, I just waited until it was in the case so I didn't get it all fingerprinty. Maybe this was a mistake, but hey-ho. Hindsight is 20/20 and all that

I'm liking this case too. It was super easy to build in, and I don't think I could possibly fault it, especially considering the price.

Would hate to say i can do it for "X" amount and it ends up costing "X" amount + 100.

I feel you, man. I've been finding it kinda tricky to keep my friends' build lists in budget, especially since they're not certain exactly how much they'll have when the time comes.

Thank you too It does feel great, I've always wanted to build my own PC - I was quickly convinced against using boutique builders like Chillblast. This build list has been through so many iterations, it started out with a £750 budget and has evolved and grown as I got jobs and such. Good old PCPartPicker!

I really do, I find it so exciting. Luckily, my friends have all saved up for their own computers over the summer too, and they want me to build their machines for them

Right. I've been waiting a long, long time to do this build (and this build log). I've been saving up for it for almost the entirety of this summer - I started working the day after my last exam and finished working the Friday before I was due back to school. Prior to this build, I've been playing games on my dad's PS3, and a mid-2007 iMac (which plays CS:GO at 15fps on minimum settings). Anyway, enough pre-amble. On with the build log! (I would like to apologise in advance for potentially shoddy picture quality, I suck at taking photos )

Specs

Motherboard, CPU and RAM are in. This is looking pretty good so far

This is the cable management pretty much finalised. I know I should trim off that cable tie, but I haven't gotten around to it yet

Everything's set up on my desk, time to install Windows! I'll be using a pen drive with the ISO on that a friend lent me, plus a code from G2A (because screw paying £80 when I can pay £8 )

*sigh* And it's done... I finally have a (pretty badass, if I say so myself) gaming PC. I hope y'all didn't hate this thread as much as my last one

I think people tolerate IE now, because in terms of HTML5 support (and therefore website compatibility), it is pretty much on par with FF and Chrome. However, if you want addons then IE is completely useless.

It should be noted that if you remove IE, it will break quite a lot of programs that use a web frame to show content (they use IE 99% of the time). All you're doing is stopping it from showing up, which serves no purpose. Occasionally, it may turn out to be necessary to use Internet Exploder to access the web.

Stopping it from showing up does serve a purpose - it won't show up. Yeah ok this is a pretty fucking stupid thread.

So, are people really telling me they actually like IE now? I thought everyone just used Chrome, or sometimes Firefox

 

My point this, this guide is completely pointless. I don't see why anyone would want to follow this guide.

I was clicking around on my new PC earlier (this being the first time I've ever used Windows 8.1), and I discovered a way to almost entirely disable Internet Explorer. I'm not sure how many of you know how to do this, but I've never heard of it before and I spend a fair bit of time on the internet.

STEP 1:

Open up Control Panel. Make sure it's showing All Control Panel Items (it should either be on Large Icons or Small Icons - change this in the top-right hand corner). Go to Default Programs.

If you have StartIsBack (which is great btw), you can open the Default Programs window right from the Start Menu:

STEP 2: Click on "Set program access and computer defaults"

STEP 3: Click on the "Custom" drop-down menu, and uncheck the "Enable access to this program" box next to Internet Explorer. Click OK.

That's it! Just to prove to myself that IE was hidden away, never to be used again, I ran a quick search in the Start Menu:

Yep, it's gone.

Just to clarify, it's not uninstalled - I'm not sure if you can even uninstall IE - but it is basically gone forever. It won't open again at any point unless you go back and check the box (as detailed above) again. Hey, out of sight, out of mind, right?

Oldest thing inside my computer: probably my Corsair AX760i (I built it this week cut me some slack)

Oldest thing outside my computer: this GNR F173 17" 4:3 1280x1024 VGA monitor (absolute PoS, picked up for about a fiver), being used to dump chat windows, MSI Afterburner, etc.

Oldest computery thing in my house: some eMachines thing, Intel Celeron D (Prescott, 2.0 GHz, skt 478), 256MB DDR RAM, 80GB IDE HDD. Upgraded to Pentium D (Prescott, 2.3 GHz), 512MB DDR RAM.

I'd honestly rather have the plain text emoticons. I'm really not a fan of having yellow blobs all over the page.

Some people need to stick to playing games on consoles. They don't deserve PCs.

If your motherboard only has one fan header, you can purchase some fan header splitters, which are pretty cheap, or a fan hub/fan controller, the latter of which will allow you to manually adjust the speed of your fans. These shouldn't be too expensive either. Both 3-pin and 4-pin fan connectors should work with most fan hubs/fan controllers, but check first, as some may not support 4-pin fans.

I wouldn't buy this DAC purely on the basis of the company sounding like a bunch of morons (for lack of a better PG13 word). From the shots of their website shown in the video, it's clear that they're going for a "cool" and "pally" attitude towards their public relations, which is something I absolutely detest. I'm not their mate, it just makes them sound like a bunch of hipster idiots.

No! I've never even met these people, so what makes them think they can talk to me in such an uncouth and informal manner? This is supposedly a business deal, but language like this turns the whole thing into an absolute farce. Perhaps a more appropriate way of saying this would be:

 

Windows users will require a driver, since Windows is not fully compliant with devices that support asynchronous USB Class 2.

Making up words is also something this company's PR department is guilty of. WTF does "awesomification" mean? In all honesty, it makes them sound like a bunch of five year olds who haven't learned how to use English properly yet. Also, "awesomifier". Makes them sound like complete and utter idiots.

Also, the product doesn't look very good.
