xaviersykora got a reaction from Ryujin2003 in $2000 for a new School/Gaming/Workstation Laptop/Setup
After searching the web a lot, and it seems that from what I've seen that ASUS has really stepped up their game in the past year when it comes to customer service and general QC. I could be wrong, but that really seems to be the case. Notebookcheck gave the last iteration of the 15.6" ASUS model very good reviews on most fronts, including cooling. If ASUS really is that bad then I will go with a Clevo model (probably from SAGER, then flash premo) or possibly an MSI once I do some more research.

Not sure yet. I have a bit of time to make the decision, and I'm still mulling it all over.

I have made a V2 in sketchup
I changed where the HDDs are and where the GPU is.

xaviersykora got a reaction from Chiko in Briefcase Computer!
Hello! I have decided I am going to go all out and build a Suitcase Computer! I went to GoodWill today(A thrift shop) and got an old briefcase that looked good.
Here are the parts that I am going to put into the build.
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/23B0e
Intel Core i5-4430 3GHz Quad Core
ASRock H81M-ITX
Crucial Ballistix 8GB
ASUS GeForce GTX 670 2GB
Corsair Builder Series CX430
So here is the suitcase when I first bought it.
Then I took out all of the fabric on the inside.
After that, I did some finishing touches to the case itself.
Then I made some to scale 'models' and put them in a config that I was comfortable with.
KEY
Kosher Salt=PSU
White Paper=MOBO
Cereal=GPU
HDD/Brown paper=2x 3.5" HDDs
I was thinking I would mount the GPU above the MOBO using a PCIe Extension cable.
Then I went into paint and made some horrible labels.
One thing I am worried about, is if the GPU and the CPU cooler wouldn't have enough space for each other, My briefcase has a 4" of clearance when closed.
Also I wont be putting any parts in this case until January, but I will be posting updates about the case itself.
Hope you are as excited as I am!

This is just going to be a chassy, I won't be putting them on the inside as I wouldn't have any space -

Yeah but the Direct CU mini is VERY small, and like you said has more CUDA cores which I will use since I do lots of GPU acceleration.

xaviersykora reacted to Bluejay0 in Is there any Xeon that outperforms the 4670 around the same price?
ITX and mATX will be tricky for AMD but there are boards. Just not ITX to my knowledge.

OK I am going to powdercoat the case either white or black, let me know what you think I should go for.
So have been thinking I would do some small upgrades to my rig to make it a bit more future proof. Went to my local PC shop and ended spending a lot more than expected. I came away with:
ASUS Maximus 6 Formula
2 x ASUS R9 280 Matrix in crossfire
4770K
32GB G-Skill Trident ddr3 2400 ram
256 Samsung 840 pro SSD
2 x 2TB WD black Hdd
Corsair H100i AIO cooler
Corsair As1200i PSU
The install is a bit of a mess at the mo, but the idea is to rip it all out and water cool it all properly anyway. Then it's time to sleve the cables and expand the military theme a bit further.

I'm leaning towards the 8320 and an OC board. -
