  1. You can always slap little VRM heatsinks on them if the heat ever becomes an issue, which would deliver a better perfomance improvement than a backplate. Backplates look nice though
  2. Alright, I'm going for the B550 Tomahawk! Just seen that it comes with a 25€ postmates coupon too lol Thanks a lot for all the help and advice, really appreciate it! Stay safe in these weird ass times.
  3. So it seems for my use cases B550 will be more than enough? My only actual concern was the USB thing. I'm grabbing a 3600/3700 soon than maybe upgrading to a 5600x in the future. The PCI stuff doesn't really seem like it'd be a problem for me in the near future. It just the annoying back I/O the B550 Tomahawk has that's gotten me all confused. It has 2 LAN ports which I'd never need and I don't like paying for stuff I wouldn't ever need lol seems to be the case with PCI-E 4 lanes on the X570 board as well though. Which one would you go for if you were me? Thanks for the help so far, really appreciate it!
  4. Yeah that seems doable. The headset uses a traditional USB 3.0 port but even then it's doable. Would you happen to know if I could simply connect a hub to one of those USB2 ports to power all of KBM, mic and the BT adapter? I tested it on my current system just now and it works. Also an extra question if you don't mind. Should I fork over the extra 40€ for the x570 or would the B550 simply suffice if I'm not planning to use more than a single M2 drive and a single GPU.
  5. Well it's another 40€ I'd rather save if I can get away with the ports on the B550, so that's why I asked the original question.
  6. I'll probably be connecting 2 of the sensors to the front USB3 ports of the case. It has two USB3 and two USB2 out front.
  7. So you think I can get all those devices to work if I say used the front panel USB3 ports for 2 of the sensors? My case has two USB 3 and two USB 2 ports out front. I'd rather fork out the extra 40€ for the x570 Tomahawk since that one has two more USB3.2s on the back, instead of having to get an expansion controller, but thanks for the recommendation! Also do you think the x570 tomahawk would be worth it for the extra 40€?
  8. Backplates are almost always an aesthetic thing, not really worth it if you're looking for performance improvements.
  9. Hi! Considering getting this board as I can get it for 137€ incl. AC Valhalla atm. Am also considering X570 Tomahawk but that one's 179€, still includes AC Valhalla though. The number of USB ports are a cause for concern for me however. I'll be VR gaming on this PC as well so I need all the USB ports I can get. Will be connecting about 10 devices or so: 2 for KB-Mouse 1 Mic 1 for BT Adapter for XBox controller 1 for the VR Headset and 3 for sensors which all require at least USB 3.0 1 for my USB DAC/Amp so that's about 9 ports I'll need to get the job done. Can I get away with using a Hub which I already have to connect the devices that don't need USB 3, and then using the available ports on the front and back for the other devices? I'm basically afraid of getting a USB controller error on Windows, with that many devices connected. Thanks.
  10. Alright, thanks very much! I'll need a tad bit more consideration deciding between x570 and b550 tomahawk, but will probably go for the b550 variant.
  11. Thanks for the help! Another simple question if you don't mind. Would you go for the Aorus Elite for 176€ or the X570 Tomahawk for 179€ including AC Valhalla? Or skip them altogether and go for the B550 Tomahawk? Considering my use cases. Would really appreciate your input on this one.
  12. Nvm was just reading about it and seems it has some VRM issues according to a HardwareUnboxed video.
  13. Should I also consider the Gaming Edge WiFi for 150€? That one has 7 USB ports on the back as well which is convenient.
  14. Thanks for the reply! Should I consider the Gaming Edge WiFi for 150€? That one seems to have 7 USB ports on the back as well.
  15. Hi, I'm considering getting one of these. The B550 costs atm with cashback 137€ whereas the X570 costs 179€ including cashback. The only difference that actually is important to me is the amount of usb ports on the rear. I already have a passive usb 3 hub for that though so that probably won't be an issue? Would it be better to have more built in rear USB ports as I'm using this PC for VR gaming as well? Or would a USB hub be enough to circumvent the issue? I've read about PCI lane sharing or something to that effect. Would that ever be a problem for me if I'm not planning on running more than a single GPU and a single M2 drive? Would I be missing out on anything major by not going with the X570 board? Smart Access Memory would still be available with the B550 board if I ever decide to get a Zen 3 CPU right? I did some research myself but mobo features are really confusing... Would you guys recommend the X570 for 40 extra Euros considering my use cases? Any form of advice would be greatly appreciated. EDIT: Wi-Fi & BT aren't important to me at all. Also I'm only considering these two as there is both a cashback and free AC Valhalla deal going on atm which is really hard to beat. The Gaming Edge X570 costs around 150€ with cashback so maybe that one's also worth considering.
  16. I guess I can take the liquid cooled Vega as a reference point since that and the Nitro perform almost the same. Seems like it's faster than the 2070 so I'm thinking I'll keep my order and also get to enjoy freesync in the future.
  17. Alright, I'll take a look at that. I'll be getting a freesync monitor so kinda leaning towards Vega atm. Thanks for the help!
  18. They indeed are. Although I'd undervolt the Vega if I'd go that route. Any ideas on how much faster the 2070 Armor would be compared to an undervolted OCed 64 Nitro?
  19. Hi everyone! I ordered a Vega 64 Nitro for 499€ a couple days ago which also comes with AMDs raise the game bundle (Worth around 60€.). The 2070s came out today and it occurred to me that I can also get the MSI Armor 2070 for 519€ in Germany. I'm planning to get a freesync monitor in the future, not feeling like paying the gsync tax. Should I cancel the Vega order and get a 2070? Appreciate the help, thanks!
  20. I tried them in a Hi-Fi audio store. Don't really know what type of amp was used or if they were being amped at all. I believe there are several versions of 990s. If you don't have an amp get the 80 ohms version. You won't be unleashing their full potential without an amp if you go higher than that. IMO an amp still makes a difference even on the 598s which are very efficient cans. Like I said you can't go wrong with either of these.
  21. @anothertom The stuff arrived today. The noise is gone it's absolutely crystal clear now! Thanks a lot for your help.
  22. I've tried both. 990s are definitely more 'fun' and bassier so lows are more pronounced on these. 598 has the better soundstage, one of the best even among mid-fi cans, more neutral and also the instrument separation is better on these. Vocals also feel livelier-more in your face with 598s. 990s were a bit clampy to me but they probably get better in time. You can't go wrong with either of them. Sorry for the usage of audiophile terms but that's the best way I can describe how they sound.
  23. Alright then. I'll get the Palmer and those cables. Thank you very much for all your help.
  24. Oh I thought those were mic cables and wouldn't work with the speakers, for some reason they are on different categories in the thomann site. I'd buy from Amazon but just wanted to get it all from thomann, they also ship pretty quick and offer great customer service. So it's decided then, I'll get the Palmer. Would those cables work with the lsr305s though? I was looking at these under speaker cables category but they're triple the price for some reason: https://m.thomann.de/gb/cordial_ctl_3_fm.htm?o=17&search=1498755792 There is also a warning there to not use these with active speakers. Which cable would be the right one? Thanks for your response. I realize I've been asking lots of questions so thanks again for being so helpful.
