Just because it's not for you, doesn't make it a bad product.
There are tons of people that use notebooks like these. I use notebooks, however I prefer to just get the $1 ones from the dollar store since they're not notes I'd keep. This is not the same for everyone. Some people like to keep journals, in which case these make perfect sense.

There are probably more people that would want something not made of real leather, than those that would want real leather. Especially in the LTT audience.

Not really you just have to press the little latch and then yank it out, try to grab onto the plastic, do not pull on the cable. That's about it. (you can swear a lot if it's not coming off, that usually helps me)

Jtalk4456 reacted to tristanchap in Data representation suggestion
    Hi there all,

Just had a few suggestions on how data should be represented in videos. Of course, I understand not everyone cares for the rigor and accuracy of scientific media, but I think a discussion would be useful!

One of the things I have noticed across many channels that provide data and comparisons on computer components, systems and general benchmarks is that they all lack some standards and important information in the figures produced. I am an Oxford Biology student and have been given a lot of classes and resources that are to help improve our data representation and ensure our data is unbiased and fair. This is obviously not what we should expect from free sources like LTT videos but there are some lessons that could be applied. For example:

Use of colour differences between individual variables (New colour for each processor for example with different measures in a different but related shade) Clarity over the data used in the title. Titles are often very bare and don't tell us exactly what measure is being used. Is it the mean? is it the lowest value? Are we looking at a measure of central tendency. This sort of thing is important to know whether the examples we are being shown were cherry-picked or not! Some variety in the graphs used might sometimes represent the data better. If something has been tested 50 times each, you have a great sample size! So you should show that off with a boxplot that lets us know the mean, quartile ranges and outliers! This helps us to understand how variable the data is. We dont want to go a buy something because it looked super different if that is actually a rare result! Please, please. please! Ensure figure legends or side comments are of a reasonable size! we only see the figures for a short time and it just helps to read it. The empty space around the figure is fine to be filled with a good legend or even a little figure caption if needed! Sometimes its not always feasible to test something loads and loads of times, and thats okay! But that should be clear, Of course people might not understand what N = 3 means but they do understand if you give a little warning that they were only tested 3 times! we want to know how reliable your conclusions are! Overall, the data behind the figures always sounds quite robust, and the process very well controlled! But it feels like a shame that a lot of the data is not being used as effectively as it could be. While there is a balance between how far you go, I feel there is a level to which it could be improved. A good figure can make the difference between someone buying something they truly are suited to or making a mistake due to an incorrect assumption. As an influencer, there is room to suggest that LTT has a responsibility to not mislead. Now I do feel the data could be construed to be misleading in some cases, and questions can be asked. My personal opinion is that if those questions were answered, they LTT would be providing information that no other influencer on this topic is providing, putting them ahead of the competition. There is truth in the fact that this will benefit more serious tech lovers and professionals than the average casual viewer, but that is where LTT would have to consciously decided how rigorous the figures truly are!

Now, I decided to post this here to see what other people think, do you agree? Do you think there are other things that they could do to improve their reliability? Do you think this is unnecesary and overly complicated and simply just a waste of time? Please, do let me know, I am interested to see what others think!

Thanks for getting this far if you read all that!

Jtalk4456 reacted to Kisai in Minecraft’s upcoming Player Chat Reporting feature meets an outpouring of rage from fans fearing its misuse
It does seem like this is missing the context.

I'd assume that privately run Java servers, including heavily modded ones and so forth would not have a report feature, or the report feature only goes to the server administrator. There's not exactly a way to block people from connecting except them not knowing where the server is. I no doubt there are private ERP minecraft servers.

That said, it's probably intended for Minecraft (bedrock), such as the console/Windows version where you're more likely to have children present in a controlled setting. To which, so what?

If you are opening a minecraft server, streaming it, and letting anyone and their dog connect to it, it's going to be abused. This is where I can accurately predict the abuse, from people wanting to troll the streamer, to the streamer wanting to troll the people playing on THEIR server.

So the fairest way to implement this to in fact have servers mark themselves with how they want the reporting mechanic to work
    - Reporting ignored
    - Reporting goes to (private) server operator
    - Reporting goes to Microsoft (Microsoft controlled realms/servers)
    - Reporting harassment goes to server operator, all others ignored.

This is one of those situations where I would also point out that microsoft's linking of your microsoft and xbox accounts was a mistake and ripe for abuse. Let's say you linked your 2002 hotmail account and 2007 skype account, and 2009 Xbox account to your Windows 11 microsoft account, and some crybaby in minecraft reports you for ... oh I don't know, telling them to GTFO. Microsoft suspends the "microsoft" account for profanity, subsequently kicking the player out of their Windows computers, Xbox consoles, Skype accounts and emails.

At any rate, I don't necessarily think it's a bad idea to have the reporting mechanic if the server operators have the option to opt out of it.

I would totally get this for Mojang owned or controlled servers and somewhat for public realms, but it is just a horrible decision that this also applies to private servers and realms. The kind of moderation I want on my private server should be up to me entirely and if I want previous abusers to be able to join my server then that should be possible. also kinda weird to have the word pornography in the game itself. whats the chance some children will be like: what does that word mean, lets put it in google.

I think that's mostly down to preference, the snagless ones I've got from monoprice are a pita to push down on, they're very stiff after a bit making removing cables a pain. The flexboot though are nice.

Anything Cat6 or Cat6a is fine. Both can do 10Gbps up to 55m but 6a can do 10Gbps up to 100m which is the limit for copper ethernet cables anyway.
UTP for most applications is fine unless running next to high voltage power lines (like a space heater, microwave, mains into the home, etc. basically anything with a ton of EMI that's not well shielded itself) then FTP or STP would be the recommendation based on the needs. Any gauge is fine the important thing to make sure it's not CCA/Copper Clad Aluminium and you'll be good. If you're running the cable in walls the get solid core. Stranded is for patch cables.

First, figure out what you're running.

If you're running 1gb ethernet?  Anything past CAT6 is a waste.  Cat7 and up are for 10gb (and in general use, you don't need 10gb going to workstations.)

Honestly?  My first stop for ethernet cables is Monoprice.  Good cables and cheap.

Id skip any cable that says cat 7 or 8. There not needed for any current ethernet standards, and cat 7 isn't even really a spec for Ethernet. Id go cat 6 here, and any cable should be fine, you ont  need much for 1gbe.

An Ethernet surge protector should solve your problems. You would want the protection on the edge of your network, before your router. They look like this and are usually made for outdoor networking equipment (like the Ubiquiti point-to-point wireless Linus and Jake installed for their connections between buildings), but they should work for your use case too. It sounds like the network connection is your biggest issue, but it can't hurt to put all your electronics behind surge protectors.

We can only guess what the root cause of your problems could be, though. Maybe something is shorting to mains voltage somewhere along the line. Maybe someone keeps messing with the network closet in your building and connecting together things they shouldn't.

My Appartment has our ISP's junction box which has Fiber input and the through ethernet cables supplies Internet to various flats. Last month during very light rain, while I was using the laptop connected to my old router(very old, barely gave 100mbps through LAN) via ethernet cable. That laptop blew up in my face(Not like actual blow up into pieces), it was like someone threw a flashbang in my face. The power was out in my flat, the mains tripped. I checked behind the laptop, removed all the cables and noticed the Ethernet cable was stuck, I pulled it hard and what do I see? A melted plug. I then checked my router and what do you know, even that one caught fire and blew up. I removed all the ethernet ports and saw the cable that runs down from the top was fried.

At first, I thought it was my socket that had a surge. But no, all electronics in my house were perfect. Even the other devices connected to that socket were working normally. So it has to be from the ethernet. So I went to the roof and checked the Junction box. Surely enough it turned off and caught fire. All the ports on that thing were fried. I called the ISP and told them to come check. The guy replaced the power adaptop, TURNED IT BACK ON AND LEFT WITHOUT TELLING ME ANYTHING. He called me back and told me to check if my internet is working now. I was like, dude my router blew up! He came to my home removed the melted ethernet plug, added a new plug to the same wire and left lmao. He told me "Just buy a new  router, we will set it up for you for free". Keep in mind, I am from a India. It's not that easy to sue people or companies here because shit sucks.

I emailed their team, raised tech support for weeks but they ghosted me and stopped caring. No replied, nothing. And I can't do anything because I still have their service(which is really good btw) for another 3 months. The technicians that visited blamed it on so many other things, they even were like why are using an ethernet cable to your laptops... Just use wifi.

I got tired and just swallowed the anger. I bought a better Wifi 6 capable router this time so I could free my laptop from ethernet. My laptop's mainboard was just fried, luckily it was still under warranty and they replaced it for free and returned it to me(Although I think the thermal paste was not applied properly because 3080 GPU is at 86 and hostpot reaches 100C). My monitor had all the ports that were connected to my laptop damaged, monitor had warranty too so it was replaced. Even the DP cable had 2 year warranty which I got replaced. I AM SO LUCKY.

Fast forward. Now my second router just blew up the exact same way. This time it took my 4k TV which was turned off completely at the socket too. My TV wifi sucks so I used ethernet. What reason do they have now? Junction box is turned off too which means it got tripped again probably fried too. I am fuming!

Can anyone who's knowledgable give me some insight on how this can happen? No one else seems to face this issue, it's only my router and its the router everytime, its not that the socket is bad and other devices are fried too. Is there anyway to protect my router from the power that comes down through the Ethernet port from the main ISP junction box? Actually it would have been better if the socket itself was bad because that way I can just put a surge protector to the socket and live with it. What do I do about an ethernet cable?

Sorry for the long post and grammar, I'm just really angry at the moment.
