    https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/apple-stock-price-share-trillion-dollar-latest-update-a8474726.html
TL:DR a stupid mistake caused the apple stocks app to show an incorrect value, placing apple above a trillion when they're not quite there yet
So basically, them taking back some stock means they had to push a bit further to get to a trillion. I don't understand stocks and economics but whatever...
    *Facepalms*
So essentially they didn't update their own app. A tech GIANT (like them or not) didn't update their own app and caused everyone to think they were valued higher than they are. This should surprise me more, but stupidity seems to be rampant in this day and age.
I'm sure they'll hit it, but this whole incident will set them back temporarily. not much else to say here
Edit: Added another news article. Most big sites haven't found out or made a article yet

In Ready Player One (The book!) sports are people competing in sim rigs with haptic suits to allow immersion and feeling of the sport. I don't think we could do football or rugby but I think Quidditch as an eSport would be awesome.

To me it's one thing to subscribe to all the sweepstakes just so you can get a prize to turn it around and sell it somewhere than it is to keep it for a while, realize you don't need it or care for it, then sell it. Granted the former isn't a sound strategy, but when you don't need to spend money to enter, it does look like a good proposition for some side money.

But I'll give the seller the benefit of the doubt. They won it but found they don't really need it. At least the seller is offering it at a price you'd normally find the build at without the signatures.

IMO,not worth it unless you really, really know what you're doing. Even then it's just better to spend $40-50 or so on a new PSU instead of risking serious injury.

This is something I hadn't even thought of in terms of privacy. I think a lot of people, myself included, tend to gloss over privacy when we're not working with a large tech company like facebook or google or amazon. Non tech companies, we don't even think about it sometimes. I'm glad they're being proactive about this
Well maybe not entirely proactive, but they messed up and they took action as a group and I'm happy they are being better. Also if catching a guy who committed "at least 12 murders, more than 50 rapes, and over 100 burglaries in California from 1974 to 1986" according to google, is the thing this info was used for, I'm perfectly happy with that...
    Good to hear
This is a GREAT use of data collected by a company. I wish more companies used their resources to help the world

AMD is having quite the umm... not losing streak? With Ryzen gen 1 they rose back from Bulldozer past with a punch. But with there desktop Ryzen gen 2 chips looking like a refresh that we are all to familiar with, (cough) Intel. It doesn't look the same for there higher end counter parts. "Threadripper 2990X flagship processor was recently spotted listed at a Canadian retailer" It is said to be a 32 core 64 thread processor with a price tag of $1,835 which is incomparable to anything Intel has to offer, at least when it comes to core count. The nearest Intel chip is the i9 7980XE with only 18 cores and a price tag of $1,879. The new Threadripper 2 chips are cheaper with almost double the cores. But there is a caveat, your going to need one hell of a cooler to tame this 250W beast.

Jtalk4456 reacted to Volbet in How is a plane safer than a car or whatever ? as in crashing or death
Planes are safer because you're way more likely to die or be injured in a car crash than in a plane crash based on pure statistic.
Way more people die in car crashes each year than in plane crashes. Even when they are equivalated.

Also, if the engines of a plane cuts out mid flight, then the pilot (and even the autopilot) can land the plane in the ocean.

Lastly, you need to check your attitude. That sort of "gotcha" way of acting isn't gonna win you any favors.

Jtalk4456 reacted to PlayStation 2 in How is a plane safer than a car or whatever ? as in crashing or death
Planes are usually considered safer because there's less commercial plane accidents and casualties than there are car accidents and casualties in a year.
Planes absolutely HAVE to be built to, well, actually fly, but also withstand the differences between, say, about an elevation of 1000 feet vs. an elevation of 35000-40000 feet. They're far more intricately designed than cars in many senses.
If you wanted an equivalent of a plane's engines cutting off in the middle of the ocean, say if your car's engine caught on fire or cut off entirely on a fairly busy interstate, but it's not clogged. That's somewhat of an equivalent there.
