Secured for movement?    The keyboard and mouse pad have rubber backing/feet on the bottom of them.  Paired with sitting on an upholstered fabric, they aren't going anywhere. The thing that will go somewhere is the mouse.  Neither addresses that issue... haha.  I suppose I could've inset a magnet to the side of the mouse pad for storage, but it's probably not worth the trouble.  My microphone can also tip if you are clumsy.  haha

A question about yours though.. why the leg pillow on the underside?  Does it not rest high enough to be off your legs?
I would think that would make things quite wobbly.. but idk.

Anywho, nice to see this problem get some attention.  Maybe companies will be more interested in providing a good product in the future.
Thanks for covering the HTPC users needs!

Not to hijack (actually, that is exactly what I intend to do :P).  If only because.. this could be a bit more.. elegant looking.  haha

Follow Linus' steps loosely, and aim for making it look more like this.

I'm pretty sure I even used the same USB 3 hub Linus did.

Having it not resting on my lap in any way, and even having a decent amount of space to move legs would be a must for me

I have a Corsair Lapdog that I bought to try with my K70 and it isn't bad but the lack of a wrist rest makes it a little awkward to use so I would definitely try the Roccat.

Roccat makes a gaming setup like that. It has a nice feeling mechanical keyboard and the area for the mouse is much bigger and makes for a better space. The new Roccat Sova was just released and it looks pretty nice as well. It's not that expensive either. That's what I would recommend.
