  1. Hey all, I am going to be setting up a powerline internet connection. I was just curious, what is best powerline adapter currently available? Many thanks, AS
  2. Are you saying that theoretically speaking, my connection would slow everytime one of these aforementioned appliances would be used? Because as a student house, the tumble dryer is on 24/7... I have usb 3.0 ports, and I think the Asus AC-56 has an external antenna? https://www.asus.com/uk/Networking/USBAC56/ Sorry to ask, but what is a wireless media bridge?
  3. You're entirely right for that assumption! But we have recently upgraded as I am now second year and living in private accommodation. I insisted to my housemates that we had to have a decent provider and speed!
  4. Sweet! Do you get quite good speeds from it?
  5. Ahhh I think that is what I was talking about without knowing the correct term! It carries the network signal via plug, then allows you to run an Ethernet cable from it to your PC?
  6. Have you noticed the tearing in any other games? Perhaps the game is not properly optimised, yet?
  7. I apologise, but what is a powerline adapter? That's something I haven't come across before.
  8. Would you personally argue for netgear over Asus? It seems to be a market that has lots of different choices, and in all honesty, I don't know who to go with. Do you think there is a cut off point for spending too much without receiving extra performance?
  9. Have you searched their website for the drivers? Sometimes certain drivers don't come pre-installed. Perhaps you never installed them? I'm confused as to what the issue is,
  10. Hey all, I want to improve my network speeds, at the moment I am using a basic netgear wi-fi usb adapter, but I am hoping to upgrade. Sadly, I don't have enough space for a pcie wireless card due to the amount of slots on my motherboard and I would be reluctant to upgrade my motherboard as I have a custom water cooling set-up, also, a Ethernet cable isn't viable due to both distance and student accommodation. Which leaves me, to what I believe the only option, a wireless usb adapter. My knowledge of networking isn't particular vast, therefore, being a subject that I am not well versed in, I'm curious as to whether a wi-fi extender with an Ethernet port to allowing me to run a wired connection would Would running an Ethernet cable from a wireless extender give me faster speeds than a usb wireless adapter? My knowledge of networking isn't particular vast and I am curious whether this would be a better arrangement that a standalone usb adapter? I am also aware that there also the option of buying a second router and similarly using that as a wi-fi extender. What is the optimal set-up for high speeds? A wireless usb, or the aforementioned extender + Ethernet cable? ^ If yes, then what would be the best set-up for this, both without a price limit, and the most cost effective way. ^ If no, then what would be the best usb wireless adapter choice? I did some basic research and found that both Asus and Netgear had quite price competitive devices such as the Netgear AC1200 and the Asus AC-53/AC-55 Oh and if you are curious, I am UK based and I am with Virgin for my internet, I have fibre-optic, and theoretically can experience speeds of up to 200mbs down, so there isn't the concern of building a set-up that would be capped by my internet provider. Many thanks, AS
