  1. It's so close to the back inside the case that normal cables don't fit. I'm sure I could order longer angled cables but because of the formfactor it was a pain to get the build how it is. I wont do that again.

    Link to the "bad" mount

I'm well under 10ft and the extender / coupler works fine with the other monitor.

So I don't think an activ amplifier is needed.

I guess it's more of a communication problem with the Acer display but I don't know how to tackle it.

  2. Hey guys,

    any help is deeply appreciated!!

Here is the case: I have a vertical gpu bracket installed and it came with special angled DP cables so I can't change them.

I made an cable management overhaul and one cable isn't long enough afterwards so I got the coupler.

My displays (both driven by a 2080ti) are:

    - Acer X34P (120Hz, 3440x1440, 21:9)

    - Asus VG248 (60Hz, 1080x1920, 16:9)

The coupler only works with the Asus but I need it for the Acer.

I tried using another cable as an extension, set it to Hz 60 and deactivated G-sync but nothing worked sofar.

Simply restarting the pc or using just one Diplay doesn't work either.

I haven't tried truning the resolution down but that wouldn't be a good solution anyway.

Maybe you have some ideas on how to get it to work.

    Thank you very much!

  3. Hey community!

While benchmarking my new gpu I made a discovery:

    - while 3DMark startup the peak temp. rises to 80-95°C (176-203°F) for about one second.

    - while 3DMark Timespy cpu benchmark it sits constantly around 90-95°C with a peak at 97.2°C (194-203°F, ^207°F)

    - while Anno 1800 DX12 benchmark it peaks at 84°C (183°F) but normaly stays at ~76°C (~169°F)

    Should I replace the aio?

It's a top mounted three year old enermax LIQMAX II 240mm with bequiet! silent wings 3 on a i7 7700k 5Ghz.
I'm aware of the fact, that air coolers are raw performance wise a better choice but I rock a small formfactor atx config with a vertical gpu mount so air is not an option.

    Thanks for your help! ^_^

What games are you playing? You'll get 10-30 point gains in a Cinebench R20 run with faster RAM, that's about it. Outside of synthetic benches it depends on the game.

If you have the budget for it I'd just get a 2x8GB or 2x16GB kit of 3200Mhz CL16 or 3000Mhz CL15 stuff and call it a day, that's the sweet spot for performance on most platforms and you won't need to worry about your RAM bottlenecking you in games.

Stuff like GTA5, Borderlands, Dying Light, Battlefield, CoD, Metro..

    All right. Thanks again!!

Right, basically exactly what I said but he used more of those letter things :P

Now, are you SURE they are 2133MHz sticks, or is that what software or Windows is reporting?  They may be faster and you need to put XMP on.

The descriptions says 2133mhz and I tried turning on xmp without an effect. Those are corsair vengeance sticks so maybe there is some oc potential but for sure not up to 3200mhz.

    https://www.alternate.de/Corsair/DIMM-16GB-DDR4-2133-Kit-Arbeitsspeicher/html/product/1216650?

So do you thinks it would make a noticable difference @jstudrawa & @Zando Bob ?

Ryzen's infinity fabric depends (depended? apparently Zen 2 is a bit different) on RAM speeds or something, higher clocked RAM gives the CPU a boost as well.

On Intel the CPU really doesn't care, it's on an app to app. game to game basis. Apparently Fallout 4, 76, and other games that stream stuff from the RAM get a massive boost with faster DIMMs, games that don't really care won't see an improvement.

^^^ Always go for half the DIMM count you can fit. Both to leave room for future upgrades if you need more RAM in future, and to let your RAM clock higher, easier. More DIMMs puts more stress on your IPC, if you decide to manually tweak your RAM you probably won't be able to push 4 DIMMs as far as 2.

On HEDT you'd go for a 4x kit (like I have) because they support quad channel (or triple channel on X58, hexa channel on the newest Intel Xeon based platforms), consumer stuff only runs dual channel. 4 sticks won't be any faster than 2 so there's no reason to put the stress on your IPC unless you need a large amount of RAM. Up to 32GB you can do on 2 DIMMs, above that you need to go to 4x (I know there's 32GB DIMMs but I think they're all server stuff).

Thank you, that makes totally sense!

  7. Hi ltt com!

I recently upgraded from an i5-6700k to an i7-7700k on a z270 mb.

At the moment there is a pair of 2133mhz ddr4 sticks in there and i wonder if that, combined with a gtx1080ti, bottlenecks the system.

I have to mention, I only use it for gaming but an average improvement of 15fps+ would lead me to consider upgrading.

    Thanks for your advice!!

  8. Even if I'm new here, I subscribed to your channel a month ago and I have to say you're doing a very good job !! So much cool stuff that a simple guy like me can only dream off 9_9

The Razer Blade would be like perfect for me, because my 6 years old laptop is slowly dieing and .. you know I don't want to push it to it's limit. AND I would save some sirious money so an Ouroboros would be effordable for me :x

    Best wishes from Germany :D
