rares495 got a reaction from Tomino in CS:GO - Average 270fps on FPS Benchmark w/ 6700k, 16GB and 2070 SUPER.
No, sorry. Quake doesn't even have recoil. There is no comparison between the two games. CS is the superior shooter, is much more complicated and has a much higher skill ceiling. There are many aspects to master whereas in Quake you just bounce around shooting magical no-recoil weapons.

He got lucky, I guess. My card decides that it's ok to downclock to 500mhz during an intense scene in metro exodus.

Ok boomer.
What's next? "You don't need more than a Pentium?"

rares495 got a reaction from weeblord in This is a small thesis I wrote.
Who cares about any of it? I will always buy what's best for the specific amount of $ that I want to spend, regardless of brand. For 10 years, the best was always Intel. Now it's AMD and it will continue to be AMD for the foreseeable future. Am I shedding a tear for Intel? No, I'm not. Just like I didn't cry at all for Bulldozer , Vishera or Opteron. It is "ME" who matters, not some tech company.

rares495 reacted to Grabhanem in Appreciate GPU Recommendation rather than 1660ti
The 1660 Super is a good choice- it's only like 3% behind the 1660Ti and considerably cheaper.

rares495 got a reaction from Crunchy Dragon in Wondering why the performance of my pc didn't go up by much.
That's because your previous CPU wasn't holding you back. Its cores are still fast and it has enough of them to keep up with modern games. Few titles actually use more than 8 threads.
You will notice a difference after you upgrade the 1070. That's what's holding you back right now.

$80 is a very good price.

I'd get the Asus TUF X570-Plus instead of that Gaming X.

Well, the Patriot Viper Steel 4000 mhz kit was rather cheap in my country so that's why I brought it up.

Haswell is a lot older than 3 years. You've built that at least 5 years ago, probably 6 to 7.
You, pretty much, need a completely new platform.

That is bullshit. Having switched from an Intel i5 to Ryzen myself, I can tell you that that's 100% false.
Moral of the story: Don't listen to clueless friends.

rares495 reacted to Cris.py in Would this build be ok?
I want to build a PC mostly for 1080p 144hz gaming that should last about 5 years. This is what I was thinking about:
MB: ASUS TUF B450-PRO GAMING, AM4 ATX
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600, Wraith Stealth
cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports Duo CPU
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z Neo Series, DDR4-3600, CL16 16GB
GPU: GIGABYTE RTX 2070 SUPER WINDFORCE OC 8GB
PSU: BE QUIET! Pure Power 11 CM 500W 80Plus Gold ATX
SSD: CRUCIAL MX500 1TB M.2 80mm 2280 SATA3 3DTLC
Case: PHANTEKS Eclipse P350X RGB (2x140mm front + 1x120mm rear fans)
With local prices, this all comes to about 1350eur which is a bit out of my innitial 1200eur budget, however I can take the hit if the build is ok. Or should I swap something?

You should upgrade to a Ryzen 3600. You will need new CPU + motherboard + RAM.
The GTX 970 will probably be able to run Cyberpunk on low-medium settings but not if it's paired with that i3. And you can upgrade the graphics card later as well, of course.

rares495 got a reaction from WikiForce in SATA Ports and Video Cards
Motherboards that don't come with 90 degree SATA ports are usually cheap boards. You wouldn't plug long graphics cards in them anyway because long cards are usually very expensive.

except that the last house i was in which was in a very large residential area like 5 minutes from the centre of the city, speeds would rarely be above 10mbps down. and this is a city with over 100k population.
$110 AUD a month
10mbps down
LOLmbps up
500GB cap.
and this was the best plan you could get with any provider.

The usual crap when it comes to display stuff: change the cable, try on a different monitor, use your card in a different PC and a different card in your own PC.

rares495 got a reaction from Im Weeb in How do you know when a CPU is bottle necking a GPU?
Because it highlights the performance of each core of your CPU a.k.a. how fast your individual cores are.

rares495 got a reaction from Im Weeb in Upgrading my GPU
The 1080 Ti is close to a 2070 super and can probably be had for around $300. I'd look into that.
Again, avoid AMD cards for now. Not worth the hassle and stress you will have to go through. Trust me.
