  1. Jesus christ there's a ton of entries... oh well, at least I don't have to mandatorily follow or like anything
  2. Kuhler 1250, because the thermal paste on my current cooler is not doing its job anymore.
  3. Hands down the body, the HTC One's build is amazing, but being able to open up the back, change the battery etc. are mind-blowingly useful features that a full Metal design wouldn't allow for. Samsung, take notes (pun intended because the Note 3 looks like utter crap).
  4. Jup, if I'd build it myself I would probably have gone with something like that, but my dad thinks it's a bit too boring So he's going with the army box! The Silverstone FT-03 is my absolute favourite Hackintosh case, haven't seen it in real life yet, but it looks stunning in pictues. Too bad 2011 is way too big for M-ITX builds
  5. It's a prosumer workstation, he's mainly using CPU intensive programs (Autocad etc.) and he's most likely not going to do video editing (if he will that would be his first time), therefore the GPU isn't the main concern. Furthermore, the Quadro cards aren't supported anymore (or at least they're not listed on TonyMac) and are way more expensive. The 770 is fine in terms of performance. But thanks for the tip anyways. I asked my dad if he wanted the H100i or Noctua, and he told me he like the AIO, so that's what I'm going with, purely aesthetics in this case, as they both perform very well
  6. Great! well, in that case I'll ask my dad if he wants the faster (more expensive) card or not Any comments on the noctua/corsair cooler? what would be the better choice?
  7. Thanks! The 770 is good as far as I know, it's the first listed GTX770 2gb here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/416-building-customac-buyer-s-guide-march-2014.html#gfx_cards I was thinking about the GTX780, TonyMac x86 said that the drivers for it are experimental, how is that going for you?
  8. My dad asked me to build him a Hackintosh workstation, I accepted this offer gladly of course. I've got a configuration and I would like to know if there's any avid Hackintosh builders that could assist me. Is this configuration going to work with Mac OS X? is there any better parts to get in the same price bracket? Processor: Intel i7 4930K Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4 GPU: Asus GTX770 2gb DirectCU II OC RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LP PSU: Corsair AX760 Storage: Samsung 840 Evo 1TB Case: Corsair Vengeance C70 Arctic White Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 All costs roughly 1750 euros. The NH-D14 is blocking the first PCI slot, which isn't a huge problem, but I'm considering the Corsair H100i also, would this be a better option (30% price increase)? My dad already has a Dell U2713HM 2560x1440 monitor and a generic mouse/keyboard which he's also going to use for the hackintosh. am I missing something? Or do I have a good config for my dad right here? Thank you so much for your time!
  9. One M8, a friend of mine has it, and it's absolutely gorgeous! Internally it's basically the same as the S5, so yeah, I'd take the aluminium unibody over the plastic S5 any day!
  10. Neither? I'd get an Samsung 840 EVO
  11. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/842978788/ember-equipment-modular-urban-pack?ref=discovery The modular urban pack looks really cool, but it's a Kickstarter and it hasn't finished yet unfortunately
  12. Crucial M4 256Gb WD something 500Gb I took of a MyBook External Drive Maxtor 320Gb I took from my old HP PC WD MyPassport Essential 500gb External drive WD MyPassport 250Gb external Drive At first I was just using the 320Gb I ripped from my old PC, which was all fine and dandy, untill it was full, this happened quite rapidly actually. When I found out my dad had a spare external MyBook I asked him if I could get the HDD out and put it in my PC. After a while my (i5 2500K) PC felt slow compared to my dad's (5 year old!!!) SSD powered MacBook Pro, so I ordered the Crucial 256Gb ssd and set it up as my new bootdrive, at the same time I installed Windows 8 because that was supposedly faster too, I have a tonne of music too, so the 250Gb WD passport is purely a backup drive for all my music, I wouldn't want to lose any of it, so I'm making sure there's frequent backups, lastly the 500Gb external drive is to move around movies and such to other PC's.
