For some Reason some of the older msi have really decent Panels like the MSI GE73 8RF Raider it *only* has a 1070 tho but a 1070 is as fast as a rtx2060 so it could work for u
    Kontrast: 1050:1 (Schwarzwert: 0.26 cd/m²)
    ΔE Color 3.52 | 0.6-29.43 Ø6.1, calibrated: 2.09
    ΔE Greyscale 3.11 | 0.64-98 Ø6.3
    100% sRGB (Argyll 3D) 76% AdobeRGB

one of the few gaming notebooks i know that are not overpriced and have a decent panel with 100% srgb in germany u can get them for like 1300 calibrated its around 2 delta e idk if thats fine for u and they are really protable

Clevo has MSHybrid so you can switch between the dGPU and iGPU on the BIOS everytime you want... Even if the screen has G-sync.

And every Eluktronics/Sager/EVOC/etc... are rebranded Clevos.

Their build quality is good, they just don't feel "premium" but they perform excelent without any kind of heat issue or throttling. They are easy to fix, easy to upgrade laptops, so they will last longer.

If you don't care about the "looks" and only the performance any clevo is one of the best options. If you want pure "power" you can pucharse one from a prema partner like HIDevolution to get the prema bios (a full unlocked bios for the laptop). I would totally spend a little more money to get a 6820HK the laptop has enough room to OC it up to 4Ghz or more if you repataste it with Liquid ultra or IC Diamond, and get near the same performance as an i7 6700 desktop CPU.

Wizard reacted to LinusTech in Is the Razer Blade (1060) good yet?
Blade late 2016 CPU throttling bug is fixed on my unit that I flashed. Still got lower performance in GTA V compared ot the AW13 R3, but in other games it was neck and neck.

AW's thermal solution seems to have more headroom.

There are two "cheap" 1060 laptops:
Asus FX502 1060 (3GB) laptop. It's 1250us$ on Amazon and I have seen it on sale up to us$900, however with the less powerful CPU and soldered RAM it isn't a nice option. I only advice to go for it if it is on sale, you don't have more money for your budget and you REALLY want a 1060 and don't want to install windows yourself.
Another option you can get a Clevo P650RP6 for 1200 us$ on xotic PC, with a 1060 (6Gb), 6700HQ, 8GB RAM and 1TB HHD, And later upgrade the RAM and buy an SSD. I would personally go that way if you have a 1200 budget. This option is without windows 10, but you can get a windows 10 OEM Key on Kingui for 26 us$. You will get 8Gb less of ram, but it's totally worth it because you can upgrade it later and it's a better laptop.
If you want to spend less money, just wait for the 1050ti.

I wouldn't get the AW15 today. You CAN repast it, and adjust the screws on the heatsink for better performance, but you will have uneven core temps either way.

It won't make it perform better but it will make the cpu die sooner / perform not as good as it should in a couple of years. I don't think you should "accept" that in a us$2000 + laptop. I would personally wait for them to fix the issue or buy a Clevo P650RP6 if you don't mind the less "premium" feeling, because it's an incredible machine (I would actually get one if they have a warranty in my country,..).

Ha! no. Asus power locks everything. their 6820HK's can't oc as well as other because its locked at 75w for god knows what reason. everything is soldered on their big machines even when there is no need to be. their anti maintenance and repair internal design serves no purpose other than to prevent access, worse warranty in the world, terrible service. They are the flaws of every single laptop maker put together. On the side note, they make decent motherboards for my purposes so I have no idea wtf they are doing on their laptop motherboards.

I get where they are coming though... It's some kind of "social status" value, and you would have to make sacrifices for it.

I would agree that if you have to carry it around on a work environment, and you can only get ONE laptop for traveling, taking it around, and game with somewhat a nice performance, the Razer Blade with a D-brand skin that covers the logo it's like a nice option for now, because the 6700HQ is more than enough for web browsing, and excel, word, media consumption, and not heavy cad/bim work (you can work there and then render in your desktop), while being able to play some of the last games at 60+ fps even if the 1060 is power throttled (In the Razer benchmark thread the laptop surprisingly doesn't get THAT hot on gaming sessions playing ARK or Doom, CPU below 85 °C). However, you would likely need to know that you will have to RMA it once or twice until you get a good one (personally I would pucharse it from an MS store if you live in the US, or HIDevolution so you can talk to Donald and make sure you get a good one).

In some work environments having a "higher" social status gives you better opportunities. But if you want the laptop for gaming in your home, or being your primary gaming device?, For the same amount of money you would be better with a Clevo and some cheap Dell Outlet XPS13 for your work environment (if you are not doing some tasks that require a quad core).

However, that will change with some laptops like the XPS 15 getting a 1050 or a 1050Ti.

Well, there's one that's a 6820HK + 1070 + 1080p for 2,970,000. Again like I mentioned unless you're willing to tinker and mod it, it's not going to be the best out of the box. High core differential, shit pastes etc. If you're willing to massively work on your computer, it can be a beast.

LOL you must be joking, or you have no idea what build quality is.
It thermal throttles like hell, it power throttles, has so many QC issues, worst support ever.
    Build quality is:
    Hardware parts
    Screws
    Glue
how well it is put together
    The shell

And the blade basically suck at everything.

No? Grab Dell Outlet Precision 7510 with a 6820HQ and M2000M

If you are not gaming just grab a Dell Precision 5510!, that's a beautifull laptop, excellent build quality, customer support, light, and powerfull.

With a XEON, 256 GB NVMe SSD, and the bigger battery it's us$1776, but until the 26 (so hurryup) you have 12% cashback buying from ebates. (You can upgrade the RAM and SSD later).

So the final price is $1562,88, I know it's above your $1300 budget but the xeon is worth it. You could, however, choose a SATA SSD or an HD, the lower battery, and a 6820HQ buying from ebates to fit your budget.

no, sadly not. I just seen a couple of my friends do it, but I asked them about 30min ago and they said that you would have to mod some hardware and then mod the bios. didn't say what, but I don't think a normal person would be able to do it, they work daily with fixing hardware and they had a hard time doing it.

even if it requires a quadro, you could mod the bios, a M2000M is really just a slower clocked 960m and I have seen people making the 960m in a XPS into a M2000M (I might be doing that)

You don't actually "need" a Quadro card for Autocad if you are using it only for 2D plans... Believe me I used Autocad for years in a Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 with 1gb of Ram only for simple 2D plans... *Yes, it was very slow but it worked*
And now i'm using a Hp 2000-299wm laptop with 6 Gb of ram with Autocad 2016 for more complex plans... Because my Dell Workstation died
If he is only going to be doing simple plans, maybe a gaming laptop will work?
But if he is also doing Bim projects, thats a different story...

    Processor: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-1620 v2 @ 3.70GHz Memory: 16384MB RAM Card name: NVIDIA Quadro K2000
Needless to say hes gonna have to spend a pretty penny to get a fluid autocad experience on a laptop.

I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for black friday deals on a good laptop for his CAD work. Feel free to come back and let me know of any deals
