  1. I'm having the same problem. What was the fix?
  2. Hi All, This is my first post! I’m looking for some assistance on choosing a speaker for my desk. I currently have the SMSL SA300 DAC/AMP powering my Wharfedale 10.0 speakers. I use the desk for and even mixture of youtube, gaming and music listening. I live in Australia, so choice is very limited. I have done a lot of research and have narrowed it down to the following. I’m having serious trouble choosing one as they are all review well. I’m also not sure which one would be best for near field listening as I sit less than a metre (3 feet) away from them. The list is in price ascending order all within my budget from A$600 – A$1200. Jamo S803 KEF Q150 KEFQ350 JBL Studio 530BK KLIPSCH RP500m KLIPSCH RP600m Any assistance would be great! PS: I have also considered the KEF Q100 and KLIPSCH RP150m but these are unavailable in my country and very hard to find. Thanks!
  3. Service NSW in Australia is ditching all of their windows based devices for Google's Chom OS. For the non Australian's Service NSW is basically our version of the DMV. https://www.itnews.com.au/news/service-nsw-ditches-windows-os-497733
  4. Hi all, I have a home FreeNAS machine and I was looking at getting a UPS to protect it if the power goes out. I found this one on sale http://www.apc.com/shop/au/en/products/APC-Back-UPS-1400VA-230V-AVR-Australian-Sockets/P-BX1400U-AZ It seems good for the money but it only has one USB port for the shutdown signal when the battery gets low. I will connect this to the FreeNAS machine. I found a guide online here https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/www.cyberciti.biz/faq/how-to-install-apc-ups-on-freenas-server/amp/ As I want to have my main windows PC connected to the UPS as well, is it possible to have FreeNAS send a network signal to my windows PC and have that shutdown gracefully as well? -Thanks!
  5. This seems like something that would work. However I am not a programmer and have no idea what this is or how it works. Do you know of any guides that might help?
  6. Hi All, I'm after some recommendations for file level backup software (Free or paid). I'm currently running 2 home servers one FreeNas and one Windows 10 based one. The FreeNas has all of my files and media on it. The Windows 10 one has Google Drive and One Drive installed. I need some backup software to install on my Windows 10 server that can watch the (SMB share) folder on my FreeNas server for new files and make a copy of them to my Google Drive and One Drive sync folders. This way my data will be on my FreeNas server, on my Windows 10 Server and in the cloud in both Google Drive and One Drive. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
  7. Thanks for all of the replies! So if I wanted to turn on the snapshot feature, and keep say 15 days of a snapshots how would I set that up? And do snapshots use the same amount of space as what is stored in the share? I have 10Tb of free space and have used 2tb already, will each snapshot be 2tb? Thanks
  8. Hi All, I need some help, I just created a FreeNas home server and I have no Idea what I'm doing. I have followed a guide online and have set up a Volume and data set, created a SMB share in Windows so now I can put files on the NAS. However, I know that my wife is going to delete something one day so I need to set it up so that if something is deleted out of the SMB shared folder on my windows PC the files go to a recycle bin on the FreeNas machine. This way I can restore it if I need to. When setting up the share I checked the box "Export Recycle Bin" and the description says "deleted files are moved to a hidden .recycle in the root folder of the share; the .recycle directory can be deleted to reclaim space and is automatically recreated when a file is deleted". This is exactley what I need. But i don't know how to access this .recycle folder to see what is in it and restore the contents if I need to, and what is the "root" folder of the share? Is this folder accessed via the FreeNas web UI or can is access it on the Windows machine? Any help would be much appreciated, I have no clue what I'm doing. Thanks!
  9. Hi All, I'm currently planing my PLEX home server build and need some help deciding on which CPU to buy. I have narrowed it down to these three; E3-1220 v5 $285 E3-1225 v5 $339 E3-1230 v5 $389 I'm in AUS so thats why the prices are higher than in the states. I intend to run FreeNas and use it as a home file server and PLEX media server. I live with allot of people so at times there may be up to 3 or 4 simultaneous PLEX streams at the same time (currently running a i5 2500 and with three streams being transcoded from 1080p to 720p @ 4mbps it gets a little stutters and needs to buffer some times). I am leaning towards the 1220 as it is the cheapest, but for an extra $100 the 1230 has hyper threading and is clocked higher on the base clock by 0.4Ghz and 0.3Ghz on the turbo. Do you think springing the extra $100 for the 1230 is worth the money or will the 1220 do the job? Thanks!
  10. Hey Man thanks for looking into this! We went with this exact build and my friend was extremely happy with the results.
  11. Hi Al, I was recently asked by a friend to plan out a small factor gaming PC. The budget is ~$2000 Australian $ The requirements are as follows; Small form factor, the area he has in his room is very limited, the PC needs to be as small as possible without sacrificing to much functionality or performance, WiFi, there is no access to a wired network so the motherboard needs to have WiFi Mass storage, as this is going to be a gaming PC, he needs some mass storage for a steam library. This is what I have planned out so far: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/7tQ4qk What do you guys think? Any suggestions are welcome (as long as they are justified). Thanks -ces160

  15. Hi All, Can you please help me choose a PSU for my new home server. I know 650W is enough power but im not sure which one is the best. This PC will be on 24/7, so I need something reliable and quite. All of the PSU's in the poll are in the $140 - $150 AUD range. Thanks. -ces160
  16. Hi All, I am thinking about selling my PC and need your help in finding some software to prepare the HDD. I would like to "nuke" the drive before it gets sold, so the new person can not recover any of the data previously stored on it. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks -ces160
