  1. No these are all online, multiple other users use similar mapped network drives and in most cases have many more network drives mapped. No other user has this issue. This may be a Windows issue. Running an sfc /scannow, then a dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth has not resolved the issue either. I may just wipe the OS, reformat, and remake the OS.
  2. File Explorer usage spikes while trying to load "This PC". There are no external drives attached, just an extra internal M.2 SSD.
  3. In Windows 11 File Explorer, clicking "This PC" takes about 15 seconds to load its contents, showing the drives. I have searched on Google for solutions ranging from disabling the search service in MSCONFIG, to resetting the cache and it's still super slow to load. This is causing issues with programs as well showing a drop down menu to save files for instance. Six mapped drives appear in This PC, and each one of them is quick to open with no lag. This is a new Dell Precision i7-13700 that has been clean installed a couple of months ago with Windows 11 and is now up-to-date. Other computers, even Dell ones, do not have this issue of slow "This PC" load. Does anyone have any experience with this issue?
  4. Hey guys, A new system admin here in my fourth week. I am attempting to archive a 33GB .PST file downloaded from Exchange and move it to a dedicated Archive drive in a VMWare VM over the network. Attached I have a photo of what I am seeing before it errors out on me. The file transfer at the full gigabit speed until it drops and remains to a crawl. The host's drives are running a traditional HDD raid so I am assuming it may be a cache issue that the drive simply cannot handle/maintain the sustained writes? Let me know what you guys think and I can provide any additional details. Thank you in advance!
  5. Alright, guys, you are all smart on here I assume. So I work for a small IT business for health offices in which there are a few competitors in the area. A new competitor I have not heard of came to my attention, so naturally, I searched their website on Google. When I go to this competitor's website, the site forwards me to get Rick Rolled on Youtube! This only happens when I am connected to my home ISP network. My phone also gets forwarded to Rick Roll when I try to access the competitor's site when connected to my home internet. When on cellular, the website loads just fine as normal. My wife has a VPN for her job, and when she is connected to her VPN, the website loads as normal. So, I am clearly being rick rolled by this competitor, even though I have never spoken to this business let alone heard of them. My thought is somehow they got a hold of my IP address and forwards me to get rick rolled. My question is, how do you guys think this may have come about? And what should I do with this moving forward? I am laughing at this, but at the same time, I am a bit worried. Thanks guys!
  6. Hey guys, I am trying to squeeze out as much performance as I can out of my z170 platform. Within the past year, I have upgraded to a i7-7700k from an i5-6600k while still using 2400mhz Crucial RAM. I have recently upgraded to an RTX 3070 ti from a GTX 1070 ti. Currently, I am using a 144hz 2560x1080p monitor that I do not plan on updating anytime soon. Yes, I know the 3070 ti is bottlenecked by my 7700k at this resolution. The last thing I have yet to upgrade is RAM. Considering my components and gaming resolution, will I see a significant benefit from upgrading to 3600mhz RAM compared to my current 2400mhz RAM? Thank you all in advance. Let me know! - Andrew
  7. Hey guys, I am trying to use a virtual machine, I have tried VirtualBox and Hyper-V, to restore a Macrium Reflect system image. This Macrium system image was taken from an existing Dell PowerEdge server running Server 2012. My reason for doing this and my end goal is to create a virtual copy of this existing server that is a Domain Controller for a small business and use this virtual copy to practice a domain transfer before replacing the server for real. I have been working at this for a few days now and am at a point where I am stumped. I know from browsing help forums and Macrium Reflect themselves, that this is possible and has been done many times. Steps I have taken to get to where I am at now include all the following: Created a Rescue Media ISO from the source server and created a full image of the OS using Macrium Reflect Server. Using Disk Management, a new VHDX was created, Initialized, Formated, and the source Macrium server image moved onto it then unmounted the virtual drive. Using a different PC, installed Hyper-V and created a new Virtual Machine. Set this VM up using a SCSI based Seagate external HDD that has attached the Rescue Media ISO mounted as a DVD Drive, the VHDX drive attached as a SCSI HDD, as well as the actual VM attached as a separate HDD. Then booted from the Rescue Media ISO and selected the Macrium image that was attached previously and the Image Restore done on the VM drive. Once the restore finished, the Macrium ReDeploy tool was used to search for drivers and rebooted. It is at this point I am stuck since the source Windows Server 2012 is not booting and I suspect it is a driver issue. I do not know how to proceed from here. Does anyone have helpful information that can help me restore this Macrium Image onto a VM? Anything obvious I am missing? Anything incompatible that I am unaware of? Again, my goal is to create a virtual copy of this existing server to practice a domain transfer to another virtual machine running Server 2016. I can answer any questions that will be helpful to resolve my issue. Thank you!
  8. Hey guys, I work for a small IT company specifically specializing in small business dental offices of anywhere between 5-40 workstations in an office and always one Windows Server which is a Domain Controller with DHCP/DNS & Active Directory responsibilities. Our company replaces many workstations and servers for offices. A major issue we often face is transferring the office domain controller from the old server to the new one. We don't really have a good guide as to how to properly migrate domain controllers in a smooth, consistent, and reliable way. The sources we use are both from Microsoft, and they are quite old. Microsoft Source 1 Microsoft Source 2 I am asking for some help if anyone has any sources that can be shared with me as to how to migrate domain controllers. This is usually a headache process for us and I know there are better ways to go about this. We do server replacements typically from Server2012 to now Server2016/2019. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can answer any questions as well. Thank you!
  9. Yes, all the case fans are powered by a Silverstone fan hub, and the hub is plugged into sysfan2 on the motherboard. The power supply fan stays on too.
  10. Hey guys, I have recently assembled a custom PC and everything works fine and boots properly, however, the one issue I am experiencing is that the case fans and power supply fan stay on at a low RPM permanently. The only way to get them to shut off completely is by removing power from the power supply. Once the power to the PC has restored too after a full-power removal, the case fans act like they are trying to start to spin up but do not seem to get enough juice until the PC power button is pressed to boot the PC, then everything is fine. This is a strange issue so I am wondering if anyone has any insight or knowledge of the issue. Thank you so much for reading! Gigabyte B550 DS3H AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Corsair CX550M

  12. I currently am working for an IT firm that works specifically for dental offices. We have been in the process of replacing/upgrading old Win7 workstations to new Win10 machines to be up to date with HIPAA compliancy. With the workstations that only require an upgrade from Win7 to Win10 our office has been purchasing new Win10 keys to activate the upgraded workstations. I am fairly new to the company, and I realized on a job one day that we may not need these new Win10 keys in order to activate the license. Sure enough each of the old workstations that I upgraded to Win10 did indeed activate through Windows just fine with no new key required. My question is asking whether or not it is still necessary to purchase Win10 keys in 2019 to upgrade old Win7 computers? I know Win10 upgrades were free for a year when it was released, then Microsoft made it a paid upgrade after that. However I have never had a problem upgrading Win7 to 10 and the license not activating through Windows. Will I come across a problem if my company does not purchase any new Win10 keys? Any insight or thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you!
