Damn son.
My department at work just moved to another building and with that we got completely new setups.
That means I upgraded from
E3 1620 to i7 6700
16gig to 32gig ram
500gig 850pro to 500gig Samsung nvme (whaaaat?)
Quadro K2000 to K2200 (meh...)
As well as some insane bezel-less HP displays @1200p.
Pretty dank.

Keyboard received a downgrade to some chiclet shit though. Ugh...
-
@tjcater that's a very good question tbh
With everything opened that I'll ever open I'm using roughly 14gigs.
I'm doing CAD engineering work btw and pretty much always have a whole car side door open, but that's pretty much it.

Nah the quad core is fine actually. It should still be a nice step up from the sandy bridge Xeon I had before.
The only thing that really bothers me is the shitty quadro. I'd have loved to see a new Pascal or even just Maxwell card. The K2000 and 2200 really struggle at times. In CAD you notice frame drops quite a lot.
But yeah, ram is more than enough now, lol.

My computer webt from an HP Z420
E3 1607 (V0)
16GB DDR3 ecc ram
120gb random SSD
Quadro K2200/2000 (cant remember)
To:
I7 7700K
16gb DDR4 (ecc?) ram (I dont think I've maxed out 16 GB of ram yet, my modeling is far less intensive than yours)
M.2 500GB "HP" branded drive (also added 1TB drive for on computer storage of archives)
Quadro P1000
@FloRolf you're using Solidworks IIRC?
-
Nope, Catia Master Race
I am actually also using a Z240
Not sure why all of them are called Z240 but have different hardware inside.
Is the P1000 faster than the 2200 for you? It's newer but lower tier.
And i just realized my 6700 has HT disabled. Not sure if I should go to IT about it or if they'll think I'm a nerd then
