  1. This year I finally made a list of potential items to buy on black Friday and their before/after prices.

    Out of 14 items:

2 went on sale, one of which good.

5ish went on a fake sale (same price, just called sale)

1 increased in price and was called a sale.

So yeah, if you didn't know it already, Black Friday is a scam.

The bluray boxset of Avatar, the last Airbender 😅 usually goes for almost $1k and dropped to just under $500.

Edit: that's Mexican pesos, if it wasn't clear 😄

USD 1k for a DVD box of Avatar would be wild

  2. I am very happy with my 7900XT. It's well within your price range and is a beast for 1440p.

  5. Posting your email address is a great way to increase your spam. How much money do you plan on spending on that? Because it is possible but $$$
  6. actual footage of @TVwazhere's rank these days. #FoldingMonthMeme
  7. #93, lets goooo @NeutralChaotic and i are coming for ya! (although he'll probably leave me in the dust soon, but i'll ride this wave as long as i can)

    7900XT is suffering from success.

When life gives you Lemons you can... ...recrea…

Reminds me of that kid eating an onion like an apple. Though I think eating a lemon like an orange must be worse.
  11. yeah i recommend that too. But you know what i'd do for now? I'd honestly say "f#ck it" and install the RX580 with SATA Power and then immidiately downclock it a good bit. That's really easy to do. That way you limit the power consumption and make it usable with that PSU while you are getting a new System (Motherboard+PSU is enough for now).
  12. Oh but can you post a picture of the inside of the PC? You might have proprietary Motherboard connector which make a standard PSU hard to implement.
  13. NO! What?! Everyone said don't do it lol.
  14. I would say try to get a half decent used 500+ Watt PSU and install that RX580. I am sure you can either lowball someone on Craigslist or get another 20 bucks somewhere. it really is worth it over the R5 430.
  15. yes it should but PLEASE don't do it. You are better off getting a GTX1050Ti or something used.

Hmmmm pick up a Pixel 8 for $100 and then sell…

Where can you get that for 100 bucks?
  17. I would propose option 3: Store everything on the NAS and back that up entirely to either a second NAS (off site!) or to the cloud. Then stick a 4TB nvme or something into your workstation and download the files you are currently working on from the NAS and when you are done, push them back to the NAS. That way you get the redundancy and data structure of a NAS and the speed of local storage. I am assuming you don't need the entire 12 TB of data at all times, but rather smaller, 100 gigabyte chunks or whatever.
  18. The question is, should you? That's a 16 year old chip so it will be pretty slow and power hungry for what you get. There are many much newer and cheap used systems out there.
  19. leave it be. There's no need to upgrade any of that with the current usecases. Save the money and upgrade when you (he) needs it.
  20. That explosion at the power station in my city certainly cost me some ranks, but I am slowly catching back up with the Top100! At least I am still well ahead of @TVwazhere and that's all that counts tbh.
  21. tbh Link aggregation is always shit. I tried it a hundred times and never got a decent result. SMB Multichannel is much easier or just get a 2,5/5/10G NIC and Switch directly for both NAS and PC.
  22. That 5500X3D could be a ballin chip for lower budget gaming rigs. I am quite happy with the 5600X in my secondary rig though.
  23. He did, but in a separate comment. But I think you are right. System looks fine up to the crash according to the Afterburner graphs. I have had just 1 crash in Hogwarts Legacy in over 100h playtime, so I don't think it's the game, but you never know. So yeah, try disabling XMP first and settle for a lower Memory speed.
