Im looking to upgrade to X570... From z77.. My Asus Z77 Sabertooth has two miniature fans on it since day one and i don't hear them at all. I don't expect the fans to have a real world impact on noise.

My SSD seems to be incorrectly close to capacity?
kachel94 replied to jefftm95's topic in Storage Devices
Grab this program, it might help you find where all that space has gone. I doubt windows is reporting it incorrectly. -
What BIOS are you running? **EDIT** Sorry I"m mistaken on how the events occurred on my PC. Firstly I"m running a slightly different mobo Prime B250M-Plus. And i am able to slow my fan down (mentioned earlier) after updating the BIOS to the latest revision on the ASUS site
-
My work desktop has the exact same mobo and I also cannot use the fan curve in BIOS, unless I turn the fan off the lowest i can set CH1 fan is 70%. I think ASUS have a hard limit on what that header can do when running DC mode. **EDIT** When CPU fan is plugged into CH1 (PWM) it does not display these issues.

[SOLVED] Windows 10 black screen with system32 cmd prompt
kachel94 replied to phumkie's topic in Troubleshooting
Just to help out I think you're mixing up "restart" and "Refresh". FYI: https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/17085/windows-8-restore-refresh-reset-pc If you refresh correctly it won't affect your files. -
Weird rattling noise on aio cooler
kachel94 replied to PurpleCodes's topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
My HDD (WD RED) makes a weird noise if its doing some intense reads, yours could be doing something similar. if not could be an issue with the pump in the AIO -
Oh ok i use this stuff and it seems to work quite well. Id also look to install the quietest fans you can buy, and use low noise adaptors.

If your PC in in another room i doubt insulating it with foam will lower the sound coming out of the room, unless your PC is a 747 Dreamliner.

File Server & local game hosting?
kachel94 replied to uwotm869's topic in Servers, NAS, and Home Lab
I don't have that much to do with game servers and local hosting but i'm pretty sure most game servers run on vanilla w10. You could run a freenas file server for your home storage and use its built in VM capabilities to run a version of w10 just for game hosting. If you go the Freenas route you can search the freenas forums for an appropriate HBA that can deal with 12 drives. -
Pretty sure they're using the Sennheiser AVX's still.

2 x 16 GB vs 4 x 8 GB RAM on LGA 2066
kachel94 replied to Mixmaster5's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
As a rule of thumb, if the latencies and speeds are similar consolidate and get larger capacity sticks which will allow for easier expansion in the future -
Dang sexy

This same thing happened to me when i used PCI power extensions, make sure they're securely connected if you have them. Failing thattry and get a different PSU.

As shown above if you want to change the default location of "Documents' right click on it go to properties then "location" and finally "Move" point the folder at your new directory. You can change the drive letter assigned to your drive in "Disk Management" but i don't really see a massive necessity to do it if stuff is already pointing at it.

It can also be called a wireless bridge.
