Jobinx reacted to dizmo in SFF Parents build: Build it myself or prebuilt?
The build you have is probably the best you're going to find for the money. You can get something from Dell, but it's going to have less storage, a slightly bigger tower, and in the end you're only saving $100. Since you want a newer chip, that takes out most prebuilts on eBay. Still worth taking a look, sometimes you can score some really good deals, but as most decent SFF prebuilts are old office machines, you're unlikely to find anything too new.

It's a good deal for the PSU, not sure why you think a 50% price reduction is too expensive.
He doesn't need a GPU for what the PC is going to be used for.
Price is pretty high once you factor in all the additions, not really worth it.
I'd probably go ahead with the cheaper RAM, they won't really notice a difference for what they're doing. You don't need a graphics card at all, that's a complete waste of money.
Definitely not worth it, because you haven't factored in the WiFi module, RAM, and storage. You're looking at a substantially higher price.
There isn't really a prebuilt that's small and comes in under that price.

If you can try to search the one that already completely build, so it's more or less ready to run when you got it on hand, those probably is. Cheaper

If you're gaming at 1440p, you likely won't see any real-world difference between DDR4-3000 and DDR4-4000 RAM, because with an RX 6700XT, you'll be GPU bound in most scenarios. Even at 1080p, the difference will likely be unnoticeable in a subjective sense. Yes, you'll get more fps, but it won't actually feel any different.

Just get a couple sticks of 3200 CL16 or 3600 CL18 from a reputable brand on sale for a decent price and call it a day. If spending $40 more on 3600 CL16 helps you sleep better at night, I guess go for it. But unless you're the type of person that does benchmarking for fun, I promise you won't notice a difference.

Always stable, higher speed ram is not really going to change that. If you overclock, that is a different story.

Spending a lot more than usual on something with relatively short time before it's obselete (i.e. no longer supported by new hardware)? This doesnt make sense. Spending a lot on something you will use for a long time can help spend less, you're doing the opposite.

and I havent started on memory's pairing to the CPU. 10400F is definitely not going to benefit from 4400MHz memory over 3600MHz, the CPU will be the bottleneck out of the two. It's no good for upgrades either. You have two options, 11th gen with better IPC or 10th gen with more cores and threads. 11th gen needs to switch to Gear 2 to run memory above 3600~3733MHz which means worse latency and that's bad, even if you do run 4400MHz compared to 3600MHz Gear 1. 10700 or 10900 and variants then are the only CPU choices in the future that could make some sense to buy 4400MHz memory now. I don't recommend tying down your options like that.

Anything over 3600mhz is a waste of money imo. You are to keep in mind that faster than 3600 will have very little performance difference and that is only when the gpu isn't the bottleneck.

If you're willing to tune speeds manually, 3600MHz is definitely a worthwhile investment. You should be able to achieve reasonably fast speeds with the right voltage and latency settings without suffering.

I made a couple tweaks, it seems pretty good. The tweaks are getting a higher wattage psu since the 3070 likely will need more than 550 watt power supply, and getting the micro-atx version of the case since you are buying a micro-atx motherboard

Jobinx reacted to Godlygamer23 in How do phones prevent static electricity?
Static electricity is an issue with almost every electronic. But phones might be less affected by it due to the fact that it's pretty easy to discharge a static charge to the phone body if they're made of something conductive, and that most people are not touching the internal pins of the connector, and are handling a cable by the connector part.

No it's a completely sideways upgrade, the RX480 is marginally better. Not worth selling GTX 1060 and losing money for.

I say OP if you can return the GTX 1060 from where you bought it for full refund, then yes it will be worth it.

Depends how much extra performance you actually need. I believe it is a decent upgrade if you can sell your 1060 for a good price/return it.

Just to list some off the top of my head:
    Logitech's G930 or G933 Razer's Man O War Astro A50's I really wouldn't recommend getting a wireless headset unless you're rich af.
Something like HyperX's Cloud series of headsets are great. If you want something more for audio, Sennheiser is a great brand to look into.

Jobinx reacted to vanished in Corsair CX vs. CXM in terms of quality?
Consider that the PSU may be either breathing in your case air, or at least soaking in it, and if you don't have good ventilation, this creates an environment for it that effectively raises its ambient temps, so the heat production of the PSU itself isn't the only concern.

Jobinx reacted to W-L in Corsair CX vs. CXM in terms of quality?
The CXM is regarded to be a better unit as they use higher quality Japanese capacitors on the primary and where it counts with still some generic ones on the secondary which has improved the operation temps where the previous unit was not very fond of.
