  1. I personally really don't like the device. From a hardware perspective, the specs are good and it looks like it performs well. I don't know if you changed a display colour setting, Linus, but it looked like the saturation was turned up to 1,000,000. As for touchwiz, it's still a terrible skin, and the first thing I'd do if I got the device would be to install something like cyanogenmod with its great privacy features. I also think the ergonomics of the device are terrible. Why is the back of the phone flat?? Especially when the front is curved. I tried one at a local phone shop and I just hated the way it felt in my hand. The device was more comfortable to hold the other way round, which should never be right. If the back was curved as well, this would definitely be a device I would consider purchasing - if the curved screen didn't bug me either. I think the normal S6 is a much better purchase.
  2. Good old coco pops leave behind the best chocolaty and refreshing milk! Also I always look forward to eating Cookie Crisp because of the milk
  3. I think they'd have a chance if the thing wasn't bulky and ugly as hell. I don't think anyone wants anything that large sticking out on their wrist. It'll do well, but it's not going to sell like hotcakes.
  4. I'm currently on episode 24... It's all I've watched today! I'll be sure to check those out once I finished it, definitely!
  5. First of all, I just want to say thanks to everybody for all of the replies! I had no idea I'd get so many. I think I have a lot to go off! You know, I saw somebody recommend Steins;Gate at the beginning of the thread. I saw it involved time travel and was immediately intrigued. You're right, the first few episodes were a bit slow and I found it weird to being with, but I have just woken up having got 4 hours sleep after spending 4 hours watching the series! I'm hooked That's a good question! Umm, I really like BBC's Sherlock. I've watched Doctor Who, Breaking Bad, Heroes and Adventure Tinme. Can't think of others right now. As for movies, District 9, The Hobbit, The Dark Knight and Watchmen were just a few films I really liked!
  6. Hey guys, I know a lot of people here like their anime, so I thought this would be a great place to ask. I want to spend the evening watching some anime. I'll tell you a little about what I've watched in the past, but the list isn't very long. I don't really watch anime either, so I want to try something new! Pokémon Yu-Gi-Oh (although that was when I was very young, I find it a bit obnoxious now) Digimon I really liked Spirited Away if there's anything similar to that Now I think about it, that's it. Anyway, it would be nice if it has a great storyline and isn't too over the top. Theme doesn't really matter. I'd also prefer if it were English dubbed because I'm not a fan of reading subtitles - I prefer to take in the story by reading off facial expressions, not text. Thanks for any replies
  7. Yep, mine does that as it gets longer. It does what I want until it gets to a certain length, then it will do all sorts of different things no matter what I do, brush it, hairdry it, hairspray it - nothing
  8. Well after half a year of styling it the same way my hair just naturally goes in the direction I style it in. Except for the fact that I have such dense hair it all just grows outwards when it gets too long I need a haircut every 5-6 weeks...
  9. Well, this is me right now, sitting at my PC Haven't shaved my neck ( ) or done my hair, and as such it is exploding on top of my head, haha
  10. There was a thread in the PC master race subreddit that I saw some time ago which linked to a website that does just what you want. Unfortunately, for the life of me I can't find it. It was posted at most a month ago, I swear... If I do find it I'll let you know.
  11. It's annoying marketing at its finest. Normal people will see 2160p and go "what the hell is that" whereas 4K has a much more concrete sounding name. It's stupid because the resolution has noting to do with 4000 pixels, if that's what the K is supposed to mean. It just represents the fact that the resolution is 4 times the size of 1080p. I wish HD ready and Full HD were never a thing. Stupid names that don't mean anything. I just want resolutions to be called what they are...
  12. You've gotta love theories, haven't you? Well let's hope they can find evidence supporting it then
  13. Well, it's true, but after what ShadowCaptain wrote I can agree that's okay. Right. It's always the pedantic things that get me I actually didn't know there was a difference.
  14. I'd imagine science would be baffled by it as well! That is true. It's just science's way of saying "eh, well we've tested as much as we can so we can pretty much say this has to be true." But there are plenty of laws that were considered concrete and have since been changed. People used to think heat was a tangible force in ancient times, for instance. I do wish that will change to; unfortunately even light can't exceed the speed of light to our current knowledge. Looks like good old Alby's theory might stick for a while
  15. Well, it was just the 1/3 that I thought was wrong. 1/3 = 3^(-1) and -1 isn't in that list of numbers. Using indices is in Wikipedia's order of operations, but the factorial that was in the other solution you find online isn't I'm just curious, that's all. My dad's an A level maths teacher, so I'll ask him a bit later, but he's teaching right now
  16. Does reciprocation and the factorial count as an operation? I don't think that counts to be honest. He said you can use powers, but do the powers have to be any of the numbers he mentioned?
  17. Hey, umm guys? Do you know about caps case? If you're using a microsoft text editor you can highlight all the words you want to capitalise and then hold shift and press F3. It will make the first letter of every word capital, then capitalise every letter, then make it lowercase. I would have assumed OP knows this and is trolling... But I don't know. If you are telling the truth OP, then honestly I hate it. For one it's gramatically incorrect, and two, it actually makes it difficult to read. I keep reading each word as if it's the start of a new sentence which makes me read it slower.
  18. When it comes to any principal or theory in science, anything is possible until it has been fully investigated. This is the process of scientific reasoning. By testing something, you reduce the potential for other events to happen or other properties to be possessed. All of the classical theories in physics we have today are just that - theories. Some may state they are "laws" (like Newton's laws of motion), but that is only because they appear to be true for all bodies in the universe with mass. However, there is no way to ever test if these laws are 100% true - that would involve testing the laws on every object in the known universe, which is next to impossible. Instead, we test a theory as much as possible to increase the statistical likelihood of it being correct. This is true for every theory in all of science. For example, black holes. It is a perfectly valid hypothesis that, should I enter a black hole, I could be sent to an alternate dimension. It is also a perfectly valid hypothesis that I could be transformed into a sheep and placed back on Earth once I enter. But until we test the conditions inside a black hole, we can never know which is true or not. Additionally, once we do discover the properties of one black hole, we cannot say every other black hole in the universe will share the same/similar properties. There could be one black hole that will transform me into a sheep, while the others will take me to another dimension. But the more we test, the closer we come to finding the true answer.
  19. Beyoncé but if we're going professional dancer then Ashley Everett.
  20. I know, I had the alcohol on the die and started rubbing, and the moment I wiped some off I though "Damn!! I didn't take a picture!" It was just very thin, bad quality paste that had gone all crusty. I could see most of the mirrored finish of the die underneath. It was just an all around terrible thermal paste job. Haha, most likely! I'm glad too - I feel so bad for putting my poor GPU through those temps for so long...
  21. I think for the first month or so I was getting 70C. Then once I downloaded and played Dead Space about three months after building it, that was when I noticed it - especially with the shutdowns. I'm a novice builder so I thought it was just the card running hot (which it obviously was) - but not for the reason I thought. I just thought Dead Space was a terribly optimised game, that's all.
  22. Hey guys, thought this would warrant a post on the LTT forum. I saw Linus' video today about changing the thermal compound on my GPU, and I decided to go for it. I'll give you a bit of backstory on my GPU. So, I got my MSI R9 290 about 11 months ago, when I built my first ever rig, I was so happy with it - it gave me incredible framerates at 1080p, and after upgrading to 1440p it still performed amazingly. But the one thing that really got me was the noise of the thing. It would constantly be running at 100% fan speed. I thought this was normal since, well, why would it not be running at the speed it was "designed" to be spinning? The only other thing that worried me was the temperature. While at 100% load and fan speed, my R9 290 would be running at about 95 CELSIUS. Yep, you read that right. This was in games like Dead Space, Space Engineers, MGS 5 and Battlefield. Again, I thought this was normal since Linus made a thing of the reference R9 290 and 290X having a target temperature of 95C. So I thought this was all normal. Until my PC started shutting down because of the temperature. That made me stop playing Dead Space for a while. Since the time I owned my GPU, I told a few friends about the performance I was getting and they were really skeptical. They always said that's really hot for a GPU to be running, but I just shrugged it off. But Linus' video today made me take the plunge and put matters into my own hands. I disassembled the GPU and looked at the heatsink to see if it was bent/broken. It was fine. Then I looked at the thermal paste. HOLY SHIT. This thing had the crappiest thermal paste job I had ever seen. It had dried out and barely covered 40% of the GPU die. I wish I had taken pictures, but I was desperate to get it off there and replace it with some MX-4 I had. I put it on, put the heatsink back and put my R9 290 back into my PC. Lo and behold, the results! For those who can't see, in MGS5 I am getting 69C with 100% GPU load, and also 52% fan speed (which I forgot to include in monitoring). In BF3 I'm getting 70C with about 47% fan speed, and in Dead Space I'm getting about 75C with 50% fan speed. All of these are at 100% GPU usage. So I just want to say thank you to Linus for uploading this video. Without it I would never have solved my problem, and my temperatures wouldn't have dropped 25 Celsius, not 3C like you said Obviously I want to stress that my GPU wasn't properly constructed in the factory, and you might not see the performance gain I had. But if your temperatures are very high and you hit 100% fan speed often, I'd consider giving this a go. But you should remember this could void your warranty.
  23. I can't wait, personally I've got some savings put aside to buy one as soon as it releases officially!
  24. This is only partially correct. TV panels do have high refresh rates, but it makes no difference for watching video on it because the framerate is always 24fps for broadcast TV. The reason why they look a lot smoother is because they do something called frame interpolation. What this does is calculates the difference between two frames and blend them together, essentially "adding" another frame. It's a cheap way to enhance the refresh rate on a display and by filling in the gaps between frames you can make the perceived motion seem smoother, but is not the same as having a high refresh rate. If you have a fairly modern TV there should be a setting for frame blending or interpolation. Turn that off and you'll get exactly the same experience as you would on a PC monitor. Check this out for more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_interpolation
