Shutter Boy reacted to brob in Mid range video editing build.
In that case the additional power of an RTX 3060 would be better than an RTX 3050.

Only video editing and nothing else?

I'm pretty sure there's no need to use both 8pins on the motherboard if you're not overclocking the CPU..

What I'm not sure of is the CPU cooler.

If it's truly just for video editing, there's really no need buying a fast GPU, unless your frined uses other programs that may use the GPU more..

The mobo dosent need both 8 pin connectors to work, just the 8 pin should be sufficient.
Since Video editing relies more on the cpu then the gpu, something like this might work. The igpu is useful for quick sync, which is a pretty solid video encoder

The i5-13600K offers better performance than the i7-12700K.

Focus G cases have an acrylic window. Acrylic tends to scratch rather easily.

The mATX motherboard will look small in the ATX case.

It will be.  It's a motherboard with one of the latest chipsets for socket AM3+.

Supported CPUs are listed here: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-970A-DS3P-rev-10#support-cpu

FX-8350 is supported with BIOS version F1 which was published in 2013, and version F2j  (newest bios, adding support for more CPUs) was released in December 2014
And if you get Revision 2.0 of the board, FX-8350 is supported with bios version FA and that one was released in 10th month of 2014, and there's 2 more bios versions since then. You'd probably get the latest bios, FD... so pretty much guaranteed to support FX-8350

Lexar is closing shop. Micron, its parent company, has decided to end Lexar products after 20 years in selling all sort of memory cards and flash drives. Micron said that they are looking into selling Lexar brand.
While I never liked the brand my self it's really to bad to see the competition go. Hope somebody takes over and keep it going rather than bury it.

    Good new everyone.

"As of Dec. 1, cellular providers will have to unlock your phone free of charge
The era of having to pay cellular providers to unlock your cellphone will end this year.
As of Dec. 1, cellphone customers can ask their provider to unlock their phones free of charge, the CRTC announced Thursday. At the same time, it said, all newly purchased mobile devices must be provided to customers unlocked.
"It's a big step forward," said Rose Behar, senior reporter for the tech site MobileSyrup in Toronto.
Telecoms often order locked phones from manufacturers that are programmed to work only with their service. Then they charge a fee — typically $50 — to unlock the phone if a customer wants to switch providers.
"Essentially a locked phone did keep consumers tethered to their service provider," because they faced paying a fee to flee, said Behar.
"Now there's going to be so much more flexibility in being able to jump from plan to plan, from carrier to carrier. That will likely spark more competition."
