  1. I am using the info I got last November when I was shopping, it was around double. But it doesn't matter much, the performance improvement over the 5700XT is still really huge. I couldn't max Forza Horizon 4 at 1440 without it getting frame drops into the 40s, and even at medium it sometimes had trouble getting a stable 72fps, and with the 6800 I can not only max it, it runs at a stable 120fps+
  2. I went from a 5700XT to a 6800 which is roughly double the performance. The 6800XT/7800XT would be a bit above that. But I agree, AMD usually improves the performance over the years with drivers, the 7800XT would probably be the better choice if they are the same price, or a small difference.
  3. I didn't mean that as a guess, but yeah, that might be interpreted as one. Sorry.
  4. It's way more likely he was fired for poor performance or other issues than a silly comment, but could be anything, really. But we'll never know, so probably best not to try and guess/cook up more drama.
  5. He's on Reddit posting too, and he seems mad because Tim got fired and about other decisions. And the fact that it took all of this drama for LMG to change
  6. Both are very expensive products that are barely better or even worse than competing products, have flaws that Linus pointed out as important to have in mind (the clearance and ease of use in the water block, and the "ghosting" and need to manually refresh the Dasung's monitor). In the end he points the same conclusion, that it is a very expensive product, with limited uses, but that the company has some promising skills and that in the future they may be able to release a way better product that will satisfy a certain niche. The difference between Billet Lab's waterblock review, and Dasung's monitor review, is that they didn't test the water block as they should, and so left out some very relevant information, which is the actual performance, while with the monitor, there isn't actually much to test besides browsing, productivity, and gaming, which they did, and concluded it was barely usable a lot of the time.
  7. Steve himself (on his Linkedin) says that his specialities include "writing & journalism". He's either an amateur who doesn't know better, or we start upholding him to his own standards and demanding him following the journalistic rules, as he himself says he is a specialist in "writing & journalism". He can't have his cake and eat it too. Can't go around claiming to be a journalist and making journalist investigations, and then create his own rules to justify his errors. The same way we demanded LMG to be better, we have the right to demand GN to be better, or drop their content.
  8. I don't regularly watch GN, because I can see the paint drying up while he talks, and I need more than that when I put a video on background. But when I need to check a review on something, I will always check his channel to see if they have a video on that, as I will check LTT, Jay, Paul's Hardware, etc. My problem right now is that he stirred all this drama, painted himself as a paragon of morality and ethics in journalism, and when called on it, his response is to deflect criticism, make up his own rules, and when called on it again, he makes the video private and makes an empty statement about "not reading the room". Never did he own up to his mistakes, and that makes me sad, because I want them to have quality, as it is good for everyone. He calls himself an expert in journalism (in his personal Linkedin page), but then proceeds to ignore one of the basic foundations of journalism to stir up drama and take a competitor down a notch. If this was about the true story, he would've given us both sides. And when he didn't, he should've apologized for that, instead of doubling down. And hopefully, LMG can actually fulfil their promises to do better, it would be great for everyone if they can get the Labs running full steam ahead with great precision.
  9. He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword. It was a matter of time before GN would be caught with their pants down, and this was just somewhat minor. But the issue is, they can't be claiming they are journalists fighting for ethics and morality, and disregards basic journalistic rules with the justification that "we created our own set of rules, so you are wrong" and go "yes we do the same as what we accuse them of doing, but it's different because reasons" I just hope everyone can step back, reflect on their mistakes and do better, because we all benefit from a strong GN, LTT, Paul's Hardware, Jay, etc.
  10. I am of the same opinion. It seems he knew he wasn't capable, wanted Terren as a CEO, but because he was never available, Linus just kept going. I understand his position, he wanted someone of trust, that could handle Linus, and that understood Linus' vision for the company. In the end, all of this is the result of a company growing too much too fast, under a CEO who admits he doesn't have the knowledge or patience for the usual CEO demands, and never was able to shake the "swim or die" mentality from when they were a small company. He wanted a culture of everybody is everybody's friends, everybody joking and having a good time, but that doesn't work when you reach 40, 50, 60 people, because at that point, you stop knowing everybody there, and you start having people who are there not because it's a cool company, but because it's a job. Bringing Terren was the right choice, and it's clear why Linus wanted him there, but it's also clear that they needed a more experienced and professional CEO than Linus a long time ago.
  11. Oh yeah, I agree. But I can't discount the possibility of her just wanting revenge or something, even if I don't believe that to be the case at all. At most, I'd say she wasn't ready for what LMG demanded (which we know is a lot, being a fast-growing company and all), wasn't in her best mental health (and I speak from experience, I've not been well lately, and sometimes make a mountain of a molehill, or take any small thing as a personal slight) and didn't take certain jokes or actions as they were intended, or misunderstood certain things (which I think is a better possibility than revenge) But that is what the investigation is for, to try and uncover the truth, and what needs to be addressed inside the company. I will trust her accusations, as she has not much to gain from them other than ruining LMG's reputation, but until the end of the investigation, I will remain sceptical, and then I will do what I feel is right depending on the facts presented, and how both parties handle that. These are serious accusations, and I am happy that LMG seems to be doing what is right, and investigating both internally and with the help of external companies.
  12. I will say that no matter what happens, both sides lose. Even if it's all proven true, and LMG apologizes, and gives money to Madison, and fires the culprits, both sides will get endless shit forever. Madison will still be called a liar and attention seeker, and everyone at LMG (specially Linus) will be called a sexual predator.
  13. Doesn't matter much, she'll be harassed either way. If found true, she'll probably try to capitalize to gain some followers on social media/streaming service, or get a job somewhere where she can lay low, depending if she wants more or less attention on her. If false, she'll do a half-ass apology or double down claiming LMG is lying, and then go into hiding until it passes, because she made very serious accusations and I wouldn't put it past LMG forcing her hand into an apology under the threat of suing, and will be used as another example of how women lie about these things and cannot be trusted. If found inconclusive, I'd say she'll double down and maybe try to also pull some following, or joining an org where she'll be one of the faces of how women suffer in tech, and how these accusations aren't taken seriously enough. I will also say that LMG will have its reputation damaged forever, even if it's a lie, but Madison will get a rabid and toxic subset of LMG fans harassing her even if it's all proven true. EDIT: and don't forget the "<removed by staff>" that don't care about LTT, but will suddenly use it as an excuse to harass Madison. And the LTT haters that will ignore whatever happens and use Madison as an excuse to attack Linus and LTT's workers at every turn. Yeah, I don't really have much hope for the internet, much less after take a stroll through Reddit last week (and honestly, even way before, like before LTT started making so many mistakes, there was a rabid LTT hate club lurking in r/pcmasterrace, r/technology, and r/hardware)
  14. If they are found true, the lynch mob will come and nothing LMG do to make it right will quench its thirst. If they are found false/not proved, they lynch mob will accuse LMG of lying and covering it up. In real terms, I think any outcome will make LMG make changes to how issues like these are handled, and they'll probably start having annual training meetings to make sure everyone is on board with what is or isn't acceptable, and the ways to proceed in case some interpersonal conflict arises. The company grew very fast, and it's clear Linus wasn't fit to handle it (and he admits it). Having an experienced CEO will more likely than not mean that a lot of things would be changing already, but with last week's drama, and Madison's accusations, he'll probably have more leeway to make big changes. I also believe that if there are any hints of truth found during the investigation, the involved staff will be let go, either "amicably" (in case the evidence isn't able to 100% prove it), or full on kicked out (if they find really damning evidence), and they'll probably reach to Madison to bury the hatchet and reach a monetary deal, and a public apology, detailing the steps taken to try to prevent future cases like that.
