  2. I recently got an imac because of work, would be awesome to upgrade it to an ssd. hoenstly everyone should have an ssd installed now a days, it makes such an amazing impact on how snappy even older computers can feel
  3. omg so excited, my keyboard is looking pretty worn after using it for personal and work use. the keyboard looks solid would need to see how it fairs to linues "can you beat someone with it" test. The headphones look so comfy i wanna sleep with them
  4. like woah 4k video recording, hope this bad boy can fit an extra sd card for all the vids i wanna take!

  6. found this article and was laughing so hard because it reminded me of the macbook watercooling Linus did awhile ago. they attached different heatsinks to the phone and getting different results http://weekly.ascii.jp/elem/000/000/364/364818/
  7. just found out you can run parallels on raspberry pi, so you could run disk images from your server to the pi, might make a cool video to try since you guys have all that new server stuff

  12. I have loved every minute of watching linus. ill be honest if i got the surface pro i would install OSX, still cant stand windows 8 will forever be excited to see what you guys bring to the table
  13. ha ha, love how much coverage those pictures were given. what about the thousands of creditcards that were stolen recently from the homedepot and dozens of other stores since their security sucked. honestly if someone wants to get access to your account they will find a way to get around the security, computers are fast enough that crunching passwords really doesnt take that long anymore.
  14. if your iphone is still under warrenty that is something that apple can replace for free check the link below to check for eligibility https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
  15. i had to do a similar mod for my bitfenix case, the window was causing my temps to be 10 degrees higher, i removed the window and tossed a 280mm magnetic fan grill on the side, works well! also about those bolts sticking up at the bottom for the fans, ever thought about turning them around so the round side is up, or adding some of those scuff proof pads for couches to prevent case scratching
  16. woot woot linus edition wraps, this needs to be a thing! putting hats and mustaches on your pet is a cool thing, definitely needs to be the new thing
  17. im pretty new to lol, would be happy to play with someone if they are ok with a newb
  18. linus why didnt you try switching out the fans for noctuas and see if the temps/noise change. #ballinnoctuas
  19. every laptop just needs to upgrade their fans to noctuas, problems solved!
  20. the iphone 4 is good, i would make sure to stay away from the iphone 4s they have had a weird problem with the wifi in those units not sure if they have fixed it. -Usage of the iphone 4 with ios7 i heard isnt great, the last set of updates improved things abit but still not worth the sluggishness the iphone 5 line is sturdy and has great battery life, and i believe the bigger screen is a must the iphone 5c is basically the iphone 5 just in a plastic shell iphone 5s the big feature you will notice is the camera and the touch id, everything else will seem the same even though it has a faster processor the next set of iphones should be coming out in september so you might consider waiting if you can so you could get the previous model or just get the new one depending on what you prefer. -nice thing about buying the iphone new is that you can get applecare for $99 which will cover your iphone from defects for 2years and even accidental damage, nice to know that while your iphone is covered while you have your 2yr contract One more note, if you buy it used make sure to connect to wifi or data before purchase, you will want to make sure the icloud feature "activation lock" is removed, this is a security feature thats enabled by the owner of the iphone and if not removed then your iphone will be locked until the owner removes it -And no apple will not remove it, its ment for preventing theft, so if the iphone is locked then most likely it is stolen since in order to do a restore on the unit it asks for you to turn it off if you do the restore normally http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4515
  21. this kind of thing happens when im using a passthru or hub, or even sometimes with my usb 3 ports. i would also suggest trying the usb ports in the back of the computer
  22. i think the biggest thing i like about my mac is that the battery life lasts 10+ hrs, where as my windows machine would last maybe 5-6. apples software does alot of cool tricks in the background that truly helps the battery life, I use a windows desktop and a macbook for portability since i know my macbook wont break. Im actually considering upgrading to a broadwell cpu myself, since there is a chance for them not to have a fan needed for the cpu or if there is one then the noise from it wont be very loud, also not having a fan running will also allow for longer battery life since thats one less moving part in the system. Only real benefit for going windows is the extra apps or games you could install, and the touch screen options, which rumors have it that the next upgrade to apple will be the touch screen which i hope holds true. So yes you could get a pc for cheaper and hopefully it will last for your next upgrade, or buy a mac that is sturdy and has a high re-sell value since they are still a hot product that people know will last.
