  1. Hey, I am currently doing a training as system integrator and wanted to build my own little server. I havent seen anything comparable to what I want to do so I turn to you to hopefully help me what level of hardware I need for this project. My budget for that is pretty flexible. I'd imagined something about 1000-1500€ max 2000€. Here is what I want to do on that server. NAS for general storage and some sort of FTP access from outside to be able to get on the files on the go. Being able to run multiple VM's for: Minecraft ARK Some extra room to set up some small systems for experimentation. First I have no idea if this is even possible in the way I want it. The VM's themself only need to be able to handle like up to 5 people each(as I dont have enough friends for that). Second the NAS doesnt need to be huge. I was thinking of putting like 4-6 2TB HDD's in it. It is mainly for the sake of setting up different RAID options if I want to. Some other things that came into my mind: Would you host the server from the NAS storage or put in like an extra SSD in there from where the games would load? Is it secure to run VM's for game servers on the same system as your NAS? What OS would you recommend for something like that? From what I have seen I'd imagine running something like FreeNAS with something like the OwnCloud addon to sync pictures/music with my phone.
