@AustinJ The NZXT H500 has 2 mounts for hdds and 2 mounts for ssds. You could probably put the other 2 ssds in the psu shroud and no one would know that they arent mounted unless you take off the back panel https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16811146289

o-rings only quiet the down stroke. The release sound is unaffected. These will do both.

Wouldn't be too worried about the writes on the ssd. Compared to what Windows does it is nothing. Linux will follow links just fine or better yet adding a line in /etc/fstab would probably be the better option. If you really wanted to you could stop the logging daemon if you really don't care for logs. Now it would be nice to have if your system decides to start do funny things.
sudo systemctl stop rsyslog.service sudo systemctl disable rsyslog.service

AustinJ reacted to spwath in Hifiman Massdrop HE-4XX Review
No, these have not shipped yet, but I have ways of getting things. Sure, we will go with that.
I have used them for about a week.

    Build Quality
Better than I thought. I have heard bad things about Hifiman's build quality. These however feel excellent to me. Solid feeling plastic cups, matte soft touch Massdrop blue. The yoke/hinges are all metal and feel solid. Headband seems good as well. No creaking or cheap feeling parts on this. Removable cable too. Build quality is more than up to par for its price.

Solid metal hinges and yokes feel quite sturdy and premium
    Comfort
They have a standard headband, unlike all the newer Hifimans. I prefer this to the weird suspension design found on many headphones today, but it depends on the person. They come with hybrid pads, a mix of velour and pleather. Feel nice, don't feel like they will get to hot. I find the clamp a bit too much, but over time, it doesn't bother me, like top of the head headband pressure would, of which this has very little. Not as comfortable as my HD650, but still very solid.

    Sound
These sound good. Better than I thought. I use Sennheiser HD650s mainly, sometimes Fostex TH-X00. They are in a different price class than these. However, the HE-4XX gets surprisingly close to their quality. There is an emphasis on bass, which one may like or not. I like it. Bass is really solid, not boomy, just seems very present, but tight. The midrange does seem a bit recessed, or something else seems a bit off, at least compared to my other headphones. Treble seems a bit rolled off, which I like, as I do not like a bright headphone. You may be different. Overall the sound is very good, with strong bass, but something in the mids just seems a bit wrong for me.

    Conclusion
With solid build quality, solid comfort, and great sound, these are a no brainer at $169 for open headphones. You may need an amp though, despite their marketing. But you may not. But if you want an open headphone for under $200, these are for you.

Serial number to make you feel special. I have "acquired" #0004 here.

Os's and hardware are just other tools. If the tool gets the job done does it matter? Sure some tools are better than others and you are more comfortable with some tools than others. Use what works best for you.

I used windows for some time in my early years. Ages 5-14 probably. 22 currently. Linux was just a better experience. Especially since I was heavy into modding my desktop with custom themes and things. My linux desktop is awfully boring though... Openbox and tint2 with clearlooks window theme and arc gtk theme. Gets the job done and is out of my way.

Yeah I think linux and mac user can never got used to windows. Just like windows users can never got used to linux and macOS.

I used to use a lot of windows, however during the last few years of my life I realised that gaming isn't doing the trick for me anymore... And I started game less and less. Until one point my desktop is literally sitting there collecting dust, and I rather use my old ass 2012 non retina macbook pro than using my i7 windows pc for everyday tasks. Then i thought, that's it I am selling it. I sold the whole system piece by piece for about $1000 then I sold my macbook pro for like $500 and bought a 2017 macbook pro (13inch non touchbar one).

I think linux is even more command line based. On mac for everyday tasks I don't have to touch terminal. But linux is diff.

About windows 10... It is good, but for gaming only.. at least that's what I thought. If I don't game, I have no idea why I should touch windows ever...

Themes are very important to get right  I ended up making my own theme for gedit to get it just right. Linux ofc though

Haven't tried them or read too much up on them, but being beyerdynamic they are probably neutral sounding. You may find something like the Fostex TH610 more to your liking. I personally have the Fostex TH600 and perfer those over my DT770/DT880/DT990 line up.

Watching YT, playing games, eating while watching things. Things that are not jamming out. If you have ever had your ears plugged and were annoyed with yourself eating or talking you may go with semi-sealed headphones like the DT880/DT990's. I am sensitive to noises like that so that is why I bring that point up.

Ah so it isn't that big of a deal. I don't think you can go wrong with any distro these days. It is more about package selection and how close do you want to follow the bleeding edge.

    @Damascus
Buy a chisel tip soldering iron (look for the yihua ones and just buy a 20¢ chisel tip)

    Get some flux

Flux each side of the cap and PCB pads

Just touch the soldering iron on each side until the solder melts, add a bit more solder to each side

The solder should flow onto each lead of the cap and pad, making an electrical connection

    Done

Alternatively you could send it to me for the price of return shipping, and I'll fix it free if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself

It's extremely different, unless you've had experience repairing mobos or GPUs before chances are you won't be very successful at it. Don't see it as something to actually try making money off, just as something as a sort of hobby.

As others have mentioned, you should check out Louis Rossman, it might give you some idea as to what you should be doing.

From what I can see now, these miner cards are no cheaper, if not more expensive than gaming cards. In this case, miners will get the gaming cards since they can resell them as gaming cards in the future, but not with mining only cards.

Dumb idea. You'll die in a crash before you're twenty.
If your parents are gonna get you a new car, they should get you something with much less power, that is also much safer. If you're gonna be spoiled AF, at least be spoiled safely so you don't die to your parent's bad decisions.

I'm 27 and pay about $65/mo for 500k/500k (liability only).

    OP:
Personally, if my kid needed a car to get around for work or school or whatever I would offer him 50/50 on a typical teen car cost (<$4k), if he wants more for his first car then the difference is on him/her if he settles for a beater he can get away with paying almost nothing. Any increases in insurance cost due to getting a nicer car or any tickets/accidents is also on him/her. Doesn't matter how rich I am, teaching a kid financial responsibility is extremely valuable and giving them a car that even the average middle class adult can barely afford is not doing them any favors and IMO asking for trouble. Getting a shitty job as a teen to pay for things you want is also very valuable. Having to work retail or fast food as a kid can give you a lot of perspective and maybe keep people from gaining an elitist attitude and respecting those who are not as well off as they are.

This is what my parents did with me (despite them not having to), and although I didn't like it at the time, in retrospect I appreciate them instilling responsible values in me. Especially when I see my peers that have very good paying careers squander it due to poor judgement and lack of financial education. If you're making more than $50k a year, don't have kids or medical debt and still are struggling financially, you are not making good choices. Re-learning good financial habits as an adult can be very tough and the things you learn as a kid stick with you for life. A car might be a very small part of the big picture but it definitely contributes to the overall result. Think of what all that money can be used for if properly invested, or used to educate yourself, or as a startup fund for an entrepreneur. Wasting it on an expensive car at that age is just dumb...

Not to mention, for those kids who have a passion for cars and really love them, the best option would be to buy a fix-me-up and some tools and rebuild your own car. You get way more sentimental value, learn a lot more, get a lot more enjoyment out of it, and it costs way less and feeds your passion.
